Ndozvakazoita kuti VaMugabe vazvione semusiki – Mapfumo

Two weeks after Chimurenga guru, Thomas Mapfumo warned musicians against creating a new cult which is Mugabe style, a new regalia has been launched and today, Friday, the President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived at the ZANU PF congress wearing an exact Grace Mugabe replica save for the face inked thereon.

The cultic fashion also has President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s signature and name all printed in pure Gushungo style. With Jah Prayzah’s song “Kutonga Kwaro Garwe, taakuchinja mutemo(we are now changing the laws)!” featuring prominently at the congress, the message seems even louder as critics said, that Mnangagwa is now not only Mugabe’s successor, but perhaps his exact morph.

“Garwe” President the centre of all entertainment & worship

By Dorrothy Moyo | Chimurenga Music guru, Thomas Mapfumo last month warned fellow musicians against getting carried away writing songs that idolize human beings. Mapfumo was specific and said he means national leaders.

That statement (CONTINUE READING) was followed by other comments by observers who said that Zimbabwe could soon turn into another North Korea if its citizens allow the worshipping of mortals, something some described as daylight idolatry.

North Korea has one of the most oppressive regimes where the President is the centre of all entertainment and day to day discourse.

Mapfumo’s warning comes against the backdrop of the Jah Prayzah frenzy which has seen Emmerson Mnangagwa being praised beyond the human conscience.

The elderly Mapfumo said this is what eventually led to the former President Robert Mugabe becoming difficult to remove.

word of advice…Thomas Mapfumo

“Kind request to all our musicians: Let us avoid music that idolizes our national leaders. Ndozvakazoita kuti VaMugabe vazvione semusiki,” said Mapfumo.

  1. Nobody said Obama is the signature mark or standard for portraits and regalia. Everybody is free to do their own thing . Freedom of expression as in dress

  2. stop insulting the president because he does not agree with you. you are free to think like you do but just do not try to impose your obviously unpopular belief

  3. nothing wrong with regalia. Obama potraits, magazines, caps t-shirts produced big business every country does it . tibvirei

  4. Tibvirei apo. Mapfumo said this after Kutonga kwaro was already there. Musada kuita sezvinonzi kune a new song yakanyorwa after Maopfumo. We can only think Mapfumo as a musician ane jealous ne mwana akaimba kutong akwaro. You cannot expect people after they identified their political momemnt song to change it midway nokuti Mapfumo said so. Whthe hell is Mapumo to dictate how people should celebrate? Allow people to do their own thinking. This imposition of ideas is typical zimbabwean mentality. Thinking he knows it for everybody. Iye he is not a zanupf member. Rega vane musangano wavo vaite zvavanoda without prejudice. Its called freedom of expression

  5. Back to the clown regalia then…. shame I was expecting something more mature form ED, obviously I was wrong.
