Farai Dziva|Warriors star Khama Billiat has spoken about his side’s upcmoming ABSA Premiership clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.
The two giants meet at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, a place where Billiat made a name for himself while still with the Brazilians prior to his move to Amakhosi.
The 29-year old however insists that he does not have anything to prove to his former paymasters.
“Do I owe them? No, I don’t owe them. I don’t want to say I was born ready, but I just love playing football and when I get injured, I get so worried,” said Billiat according to Kick Off Magazine.
“So, when I have a chance to play football, I love it so much.”
The Zimbabwean winger also refused to accept credit for Chiefs’ win against Masandawana in the Shell Helix Cup recently, when he and Castro shared the goals in a 4-2 win at the FNB Stadium.
“It was Kaizer Chiefs, it wasn’t us. Everyone worked hard as you saw, and on the day, everyone tried to be on their best form.”
Farai Dziva|Round 3 of the UEFA Champions League continued on Wednesday with a number of fixtures across Europe.
In the early kick off, Michy Batshuayi scored a late winner as Frank Lampard’s Chelsea recorded an impressive 1-0 win away to Ajax in Amasterdam.
Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain netted a brace as holders Liverpool thumped Belgian side Genk 4-1. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were also on the scoresheet for Jurgen Klopp’s men as they ran riot in Belgium.
Leo Messi scored as Barcelona beat Slavia Praha 2-1 in Group F. In the same group, Inter Milan saw off Borrusia Dortmund 2-0 at the San Siro.
Farai Dziva|The Zimbabwe Warriors have moved one place up to number 117 on the latest FIFA Rankings.
Zimbabwe were not in action during the October international break but gained two points on the table to 1167, and the rise is ascribed to Kazakhastan’s slump. They remain on number 29 on the continent.
The national team reached their lowest 2019 FIFA Ranking last month after falling six places to number 118.
In Africa standings, Senegal retained the top spot while Belgium remain the best ranked team in the world.
The recent invitations extended to the foreign based players in Europe, who have Zimbabwean roots is more than welcome and a great development for the football fraternity whose passion for the national team is very high.
Joey Antipas the current interim coach is like a second ‘Daniel’ who has come to judgement, our football direction and pedigree was crying out loudly for a brave and intelligent personality that takes the bull by the horns. For more than ten years we have been crying out loudly for such bold and decisive steps but, without much success and headway as coach after coach dithered, succumb to inertia and moments of madness when they ignored these young fledgling talents in top European leagues.
It is an understatement to say Zimbabwean football is a product of high failure as anyone can witness the world rankings of above 120 plus under Fifa global ratings, we have the undisputed talents to take us to positions below 35 in global rankings and this much anticipated invitation by Mafero brings an air of confidence and stability right from the onset, as we steadily drift into the dreamland of our aspirations in rebuilding the national teams. He who casts the first stone in the foundations, is a great builder of note and Joey Antipas has that tenacity and fortitude to help starting to re-organise the future templates of the national football teams as he directed his compass to the north. Joey Antipas has always been a good choice for genuine football development and progress since his days at Arcadia, Motor Action and currently, at Chicken Inn where he has brought a very good coaching and management style that has stabilised the ship. Mafero is one such coach that has got good qualities of discernment, introspection and pragmatism in junior football development programs right up to the senior levels of the game. Coaching young players is like engraving in stone, Mafero has this quality that he has silently unleashed on the unassuming doubting Thomases whom we have been clamouring and seeking to enlighten all these years back- that our football development needs a new module and author.
By inviting Martin Mapisa (Velez fC), Jordan Zenura (Bournemouth FC), Tivonge Rushesha (Swansea FC), Macaulay Bonne (Charlton FC), Cliff Moyo( Kidderminster Harriers FC), Douglas Nyaupembe (Stockport County) and Jonah Fabisch (SV Hamburg) for availability during the upcoming Afcon fixture against Botswana is too sweet news to contemplate as we salivate on the presence of all established stars like Nakamba, Kadewere, Mudimu, Khama Billiart, Munetsi and Hadebe.
Surely this is a new page, a new mindset, a Damascene moment of our football and indeed, a broad declaration of our future football journey. This is the minimum we have always asked for and as such, we look to the future with hope and confidence, we can robustly implement our pervasive strategic plans that tie in with this broad statement of intent. Since i have known Joey Antipas at Arcadia FC when i used to train with him, whilst turning out for the reserves, i always had great respect for his ethical approach towards the game as a player and later, as a gaffer. He is very fair, professional and hardworking in everything that he does for football, such rare qualities will make our national team far better and when i had the chance to second a candidate for this interim position: Mafero was my first choice and preferred candidate.
Our foreign players should come and complement the hardwork that Mafero has embarked on, they should bring even better qualities of top professionalism that are blameless, far better than the disaster we witnessed in Cairo when we timidly rolled and surrendered in Egypt during the recent Afcon finals. We need to banish the disaster in Djibouti, where Somalia reduced us to a laughing stock, we need to hit the ground running once everything is in order and prove to the world that we have the spine and vigor, we have the X Factor to change history and become the first generation of Zimbabwe to qualify for the Qatar World Cup 2022 qualifying team. We want to re-write history and claim our slot in African football as worthy winners of the Afcon as we prepare for the next tournament, we want to bring a new mindset that is indexed on the modern day football development programs that we have slowly entered into, in top European leagues and create an everlasting impression of how we rose from the dead. Hail Joey ‘Mafero’ Antipas our new judge, a second ‘Daniel’ has come indeed.

An average Zimbabwean family of five people required at least ZWL$2 192 in September this year to meet its basic needs for it not to be deemed poor, a 20 percent jump from the previous month, data released on Thursday shows.
In August, the same family required ZWL$1 827 according to the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat).
Prices of goods and services have continued to go up since the beginning of the year on the back of a loss in value of the local currency against major currencies, especially the United States dollar.
“The TCPL (Total Consumption Poverty Line) for an average of five persons stood at $2 191.62 in September 2019,” Zimstat said.
“This means that an average household required that much to purchase both food and non-food items for them not to be deemed poor.”
The TCPL is commonly referred to as the Poverty Datum Line (PDL).
While the quantities of commodities in the food basket is fixed, Zimstat said the PDL varied by province, with the lowest being $2 0007 in Mashonaland Central and Matabeleland North being the highest at $2 365.
Zimstat said during the same month, an individual required $176.61, up from $145.06 in August.
The continued rise in the cost of living places the majority of workers below the PDL as many of those in formal employment are earning below ZWL1 000.
Government is facing pressure from its employees who recently declared that they were incapacitated to come to work due to the continued rise in the cost of living against stagnant incomes.
Workers are demanding that their salaries, like most critical goods and services, be pegged to the interbank rate.
A MARRIED woman packed her belongings after her husband discovered that she was bedding his brother for over a decade.
Panashe Takavarasha, 33’s shenanigans with Brasington Gohwe, 37, a cousin to her husband Redson Barson, 34, came to light after 10 years living the marriage on the rocks.
Barson discovered some nude photographs of Takavarasha in his wife’s phone memory card, audio messages between her and Brasington.
Gohwe’s marriage is reported to have also collapsed following a family meeting over the infidelity.
“When men cheat, they can be caught within a day but women keep it silent in order to protect their marriages but when women cheat it is only grace that can lead you to discover it,” said Barson.
“My wife has been bedding my cousin for the past 10 years and I could not discover it. This is poisonous, inhumane witchcraft shown by my brother.
“I married my wife in 2006 and the two have been seeing each other behind my back since 2009 according to her.
“I feel betrayed by my brother and see it best to do paternity tests to have a peace of mind maybe two of my three kids might be his,” said Barson.
He chronicled his conversations over the phone with Brasington when he was out on business while he was seeing his family.
“Many times I would leave him at my house going out for work unaware that he was defiling my bed, ruining me and my family.
“Brasington is heartless, cruel and similar to a dog by bedding my wife and giving me a plastic smile and a Judas kiss,” said Barson.
Takavarasha said she was insulted by Barson’s relative and some of the WhatsApp messages in the hands of H-Metro showed that she viewed her actions as common not to deserve divorce accusing Barson of rap_ing her in 2006 leading to their marriage.
Contacted for comment, Takavarasha blamed Barson for disturbing her love affair with the person she wanted to marry.
“Barson forced me to have se_x with him and that led to our marriage in 2006,” said Takavarasha.
“He disturbed me from getting married to the person I wanted so he must not bother me about all this; after all I was in love with another guy besides his brother.
“I am not the one who posted the nud_e photographs he discovered in my memory card but he is parading them to everyone.
“When he discovered it he was furious that he wanted to kill me that is why I replied in the manner I did nekuti ndozvaaida kunzwa izvozvo,” said Takavarasha.
In the photographs unearthed, she took her time capturing her private parts, breasts and displaying her knickers and legs to seduce whoever was to receive them.
Gohwe could not be reached for comment with reports that he was put in remand prison over indiscipline at his work place.

By Brian Nichols| Blessed with abundant mineral resources, rich farmlands, ideal weather, stunning national parks, and a well-educated, industrious people, Zimbabwe should be the economic powerhouse and the breadbasket of southern Africa, and even more popular as a tourist destination and business investment opportunity, as it once was.
What then, is holding Zimbabwe back? It’s not sanctions. There are only 141 Zimbabwean people and companies on the United States sanctions’ list. That’s right, just 141, in a country of 16 million. They are on the list for good reason. These are people who have engaged in corruption, committed human rights abuses, and undermined Zimbabwe’s democratic process. Blaming sanctions is a convenient scapegoat to distract the public from the real reasons behind Zimbabwe’s economic challenges —corruption, economic mismanagement, and failure to respect human rights and uphold the rule of law.
There is no United States trade embargo on Zimbabwe. American companies are interested in investing in Zimbabwe but are deterred by the massive levels of corruption, economic uncertainty, and weak rule of law. So, investors turn to other promising opportunities in the region and wait for the country to embrace the political and economic reforms that would make it a more attractive destination.
The greatest sanctions on Zimbabwe are the limitations the country imposes on itself. Zimbabwe is ranked 160 out of 175 nations on Transparency International’s corruption list. Zimbabwe loses more than US$1 billion per year to corruption. That’s huge compared to the size of Zimbabwe’s entire economy — around US$26 billion. The government says fighting corruption is a priority but have government and government-connected perpetrators been held accountable? No. If the country’s laws were evenly applied and enforced, government coffers would be full and the economy would be humming; tax revenue and foreign exchange would not leak from the Treasury, and government would recover some of the money that has made a privileged few extremely wealthy. It’s not sanctions, it’s corruption.
Passengers intending to travel to Harare have been left stranded at the Victoria Falls International Airport after an Air Zimbabwe flight that was due to fly at 730am was delayed.
Now it’s over five hours and they are still seated inside the airport waiting endlessly for the flight to take them to Harare.
Appearing before Magistrate’s courts yesterday, Spenlodge’s employee (name withheld) spilled the beans on the cleric’s alleged bogus miracles, claiming that she was employed to assist him in stage-managing the miracles at his shrine.
After every service, I am the one who receives money from Madenyika to pay these people.
On the day the incident occurred, I had gone to see him to collect money to pay people whom I had brought to church, and he asked me to get into his car and I complied.
He drove to a secluded place which was more like a dumping site and he raped me. After raping, he told me that I should not tell anyone about the incident and that even if I was to report him to the police, nothing would happen to him since he is well connected and a member of a political party.
The court heard that on August 27, Madenyika called the complainant to meet him at a service station in Southerton so that he could give her money.
At around 7-45 pm, Madenyika arrived at the service station and asked the complainant to get into his car on the pretext that he wanted to give her the money in private.
The court heard that the complainant got into the back seat and Madenyika drove along Harare Drive and parked the car near Willow road. It is alleged that Madenyika went to the back seat and began molesting the complainant before he raped her.
He reportedly ordered her not to tell anyone before driving away from the scene. Madenyika then later dropped off the complainant.
The complainant left her panties in the car and went to her friend’s house. The friend then accompanied her to their pastor’s house to report the rape.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is alleged to have refused to open a criminal case against Vice President Kembo Mohadi. In March, Mohadi allegedly went berserk and attacked his estranged ex-wife Tambudzani Mohadi using an axe to break down doors as well as threatening to shoot her in a dispute over property.
However, more than 6 months later the police are still to open a docket against Mohadi despite Tambudzani’s efforts. After futile efforts to have the VP brought to book, Tambudzani finally approached lawyers Scanlen and Holderness.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda yesterday barred MDC-Alliance legislators from directing questions at Government ministers, saying they will only do so after they recognise President Mnangagwa as the legitimate Head of State and Government.
The ruling was made after Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Leader of Government business in the House Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi, rose on a point of privilege and sought guidance if it was prudent to allow opposition legislators to ask questions to Government ministers when they had refused to recognise President Mnangagwa, who is the appointing authority.
The ruling by Adv Mudenda followed the MDC MPs’ boycott of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Mnangagwa early this month.
The opposition legislators walked out of the Chamber while the Head of State and Government was delivering his speech.
“I hear you Honourable Minister that in terms of the Constitution, Ministers belong to Cabinet and that Cabinet is comprised of the President,” said Adv Mudenda.
“Until we resolve the issue of acceptance by members of the opposition, the request by the Leader of the House stands.”
The ruling by Adv Mudenda resulted in chaotic scenes in the National Assembly as opposition members led by Zengeza West MP Mr Job Sikhala became rowdy and disorderly.
A call by Adv Mudenda for Mr Sikhala to restrain himself was not heeded as the opposition legislator became abusive.
Mr Sikhala rallied his colleagues to rise and resist the directive by Adv Mudenda for him to leave the House as punishment for being disorderly and unparliamentary.
“I am going to invoke the Constitution for Members who create despondency against lawful order of the Chair,” said Adv Mudenda.
“If this continues I shall not hesitate to name and shame members who shall be punished accordingly.”
Adv Mudenda was responding to Mr Sikhala’s conduct who abruptly took the platform and began to direct abuse at Adv Mudenda as tempers flared in the House.
MDC Deputy Spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka has reportedly alleged that members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police were plotting to plant weapons at the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House.
Said Tamborinyoka,“We are getting information that these rogue police officers want to storm MRT House this afternoon and possibly plant weapons in the melee, now that the helmets script is collapsing.”
Tamborinyoka statements come after police officers were deployed around the MDC offices and road leading to the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning.
The Supreme is set to make a ruling on the legitimacy of Nelson Chamisa as President of MDC.
By Nomusa Garikai| “The era of painful austerity measures is over and the country should brace for positive growth and productivity in 2020, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, said yesterday,” reported The Chronicle.
“The country’s economy is expected to register a growth of plus 4,6 percent in 2020, from a negative three to six percent this year.”
This is just wishful thinking, of course!
Both Mnangagwa and Professor Ncube have known all along that Zimbabwe would never pull itself out of the economic mess it was stuck in by its own shoe strings. And hence the reason they have invested so much time, sweat and treasure in attracting investors and financial support from the IMF and WB. Sadly, they have nothing to show for all their efforts.
“Zimbabwe is open for business!” has had no takers. The flood of investors President Mnangagwa was cocksure would answer his clarion call have not materialised.
President Mnangagwa has failed to end corruption and, most notably, failed to keep the promise to hold free, fair and credible elections and thus confirmed that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state ruled by corrupt and vote rigging thugs. No one wants to do business with thugs.
Professor Ncube’s austerity program was doomed to fail; it targeted the poor whilst doing nothing to stop the unsustainable criminal waste of resources from the gross mismanagement and rampant corruption.
The Zimbabwe economy has been in decline for most of the last 39 years. As a rule of thumb, the Zanu PF has never acknowledged responsibility for any of the economic decline. Each time the regime has acknowledged the economic decline it was only to give a myriad of excuses; the drought, sanctions (its hot favourite), etc.
The regime has, without failure, offered solutions galore to all the economic problems including the dreaded sanctions. Not that the people had any meaningful democratic say in who ruled the country, since the party has always rigged elections to stay in power. So when the desired economic recovery never materialise, the party got away with it. History has the habit of repeating itself.
Professor Mthuli Ncube promised that inflation with be less than 10% by the end of this year. At present it is 300 to 500% and rising!
The Minister said the projected growth next year would be driven by several factors.
“First of all, we expect better rains in the 2019/20 season because that will mean agricultural output will pick up again. It also means the power outages that you see will ameliorate because we can have more hydro-power when water in Kariba is up.
“But also, we expect the budget to be more supportive of growth. We have said the 2020 budget is about growth and productivity in the main and job creation, supporting competitiveness and of course making sure that we have shared growth.”
Ever since the chaotic seizure of the farms to give them to Zanu PF loyalists, mostly; the agricultural sector has collapsed and never recovered. The country would have done very well indeed if we produce enough to meet most of our food needs. It is rich to expect agricultural production to recover to its pre-farm seizure level to finance the economic recovery.
What budgetary support can the minister offer when the country’s economy has shrunk 3 to 6%, by the Minister’s own admission!
First we were promised economic mass prosperity and get mass poverty instead. And ever since we were asked to endure short term painful austerity for the sake of long term prosperity only for the austerity to last now 39 years and counting with nothing to show for it.
In Zimbabwe, where those in power enjoy absolute power to impose painful austerity measure insisting the measures will bring about economic prosperity. When the prosperity fail to materialise the whole sad story is brushed aside with no explanation or apology only to be replaced by fresh austerity proposals.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, …” Charles Dickens, A Tale Of Two Cities.
In Zimbabwe, where those in power are accountable to no one, we the people ever get is the worst of times, the age of foolishness, epoch of incredulity, season of darkness, etc., etc.! Until we curse ourselves of the curse of rigged elections the country will never know a day of wisdom and hope.
“The era of painful austerity measures is over!” said Professor Ncube. Speaking with the arrogant indifference of one who has never suffered any of pain, knows that he is lying and, most important of all, knows he will never ever be held to account for anything! – SOURCE: zsdemocrats.blogspot.com
By Own Correspondent| ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa demanded a bribe of USD20 million for food aid to be released to his own people, a top ZANU PF senior Simbarashe Marumahomo has alleged.
Can you urgently respond to the allegation by your own party member, Simbarashe Marumahoko who alleges that you demanded a bribe of USD20 million in order to permit food aid for your own people @edmnangagwa@InfoMinZW
The allegations are contained in a leaked audio Maumahoko is heard screaming in anger. Says Marumahoko in the clip:
“Mnangagwa sokd the country. What kind of the president is that? Dont talk fuc**ll about Mnangagwa he is an idiot. He is not ZANU PF, Our musangano of ZANU PF has collapsed because of him.”
Another unnamed man is then heard in the background as Marumahoko tells him to go ahead to record the allegations.
“Record this I don’t care. I am Simbarashe Marumahoko. I don’t care about this. I am Simbarashe Marumahoko. Imagine a person who demands 20 million bribe in order to allow his own children to access food aid. What kind of an idiot are you when you even call yourself a president?”
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo has hailed nurses and doctors at Chitungwiza Central Hospital for their commitment to duty after they decided not to join their striking colleagues.
Dr Moyo was previously employed as the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital before being hand picked by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to be Minister of Health.
When he left, staff at the hospital publicly expressed disappointment at losing him as they claimed he was working well with them.
Minister Moyo paid the compliment while delivering his keynote address at the Chitungwiza Central Hospital graduation and prize-giving ceremony for midwives and nurses.
The event saw 150 nurses, midwives and clinical managers being capped.
“I would like to thank the chief executive of Chitungwiza Central Hospital, Dr Enoch Mayida, and his team, the hospital management board, consultants and all health workers for attending to their work commitments when others are on industrial action,” said Dr Moyo.
“When I came for a tour of the hospital, everything was going on smoothly and patients were being attended to. I, therefore, urge you to keep up the good work that you are doing.”
Dr Moyo urged the graduates to adhere to the ethics of the profession and shun corruption.
“Now, as you go out there to look after the sick, please adhere to the ethics and moral standards of your profession that you have been taught over the years by your tutors,” he said.
“Resist the temptation to engage in corruption of any kind. Your patients look up to you.”
Dr Moyo said the role that clinical officers were playing was critical and in line with the ministry’s vision to strengthen primary healthcare.
The ministry, he said, was scaling up the training of clinical officers and very soon another central hospital will start training nurses.
He hailed President Mnangagwa for his efforts in ensuring that hospitals were well-stocked with medicines.
“I appreciate the efforts being done by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa from which Chitungwiza Central Hospital has also benefited,” said Dr Moyo.
“Government continues to engage its local and foreign partners to ensure that hospitals are well-stocked with medicines, as well as equipment which are essential tools of trade for our graduating professionals as well as doctors.”
Dr Mayida said Chitungwiza Central Hospital was striving to become a five-star hospital and there were plans to expand its maternity wing and spruce up the infrastructure.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Seke, Chief Chisora, Harare Central Hospital and Parirenyatwa Hospital management teams, among other officials.
Overally the Africa netball cup ended with Zimbabwe ranked 4 out of 7,having managed to beat Zambia, Lesotho, and Kenya, and they lost to South Africa and Malawi after they were walked over in their first game against Uganda.
Considering this was the first tournament after the world cup, with 3 players having retired fans were not too sure of what to expect from the team. As for the tournament overall South Africa continued to dominate but here are the individual price winners and best players.
? BEST SHOOTER Beauty Nakazwe ZAMBIA ?? ? BEST CENTRE COURT PLAYER Takondwa Lwazi MALAWI ?? ? MOST VALUABLE PLAYER Mary Cholhok UGANDA ??
Here is how Zimbabwes players rated.
GK – Tanaka Makusha Started the tournament as the first choice after the retirement of Rudo Karume but failed to grasp the chance and didn’t really dominate when called upon, she hasnt grown since Liverpool 4/10
Queen Sigauke – came in as backup but grasped the chance when it was presented to her and really showed what Zimbabwe has in that position and had a very good understanding with Felisitus, did her chances of another call up no harm, actually it’s looking more like her position to lose now 7/10
GD – Felisitus Kwangwa, there was obviously one person to play that position and it wss obviously her, the best player from Liverpool now the captain, led from the front, even in the court when the chips were down she would be heard encouraging when some silly mistakes were happening she would also rebuke that, looks a very good leader played well struggled against South Africa but then who didn’t picked up after some rest and those intercepts started coming up. She didn’t do particularly well as a GK, sge if a GD and Zimbabwes best in that position. 6/10
WD Claris Kwaramba the position was hers in Liverpool and again in cape Town it was the sane issue and looks like someone who needs a challenge, struggled to make the right passes when not in motion but her energy is commendable for that position. 5/10
C – Patricia Mauladi having been Zims best centre for a while the position was Savannahs to lose and looks like she is losing it if she doesn’t pick up her game anything soon, struggled with her game even with centre passes and looks unfit. 4/10
Lorraine Manjoro started the tournament as WA and had an encouraging display and was moved to centre for the remainder of the tournament and had some very good performances there are times she really put her in print on the game at times sge tried changing things up but teammates ran wrong lines, a very good utility player, could be part of the new furniture. 7/10
WA – Progress Moyo whilst most players started off slowly, sge just started off on fire and continued like that for the remainder of the tournament, she provides movement and incesion, if she continues like this Perpe will b long forgotten soon enough 8/10
GA – Ursula Ndlovu – started off in Liverpool on a high note but then started to slide down and in Cape Town her regression continued and its worrying for someone of her talents, something must be done fast and she looks unfit as well. 3/10
Sharon Bwanali – every time she was given a chance in Liverpool she impressed and gave a different dimension to the game and again at the African Champs she looks more like she is the dimension now, had a good tournament and has that knack of losing opponents creating space, she is now the best in that position. 7/10
GS – Joice Takaidza she is Zimbabwes favorite Gem and Joice was being choice taking all the chances that fine her way and bulldozing when there is need, sadly injuries to both legs slowed her down. 6.5/10
Linda Nkorongo – called upon to at the last minute after Tafadzwa Mawanga could not travel, she came in and did her job when she was called upon, it’s difficult to replace the country’s favorite player but with the few minutes she got she did her job. 6/10
Coach – Ropafadzo Mutsauki, standing in for his senior partner who couldn’t travel because of school commitments. Been with the team a while now and continues omto make the same mistakes they have been making, some questionable calls on the starting seven, needs to judge players on the now not over names or what they have done before, also responded to some crowd calls and the same mistakes from Liverpool, not being able to rotate players and not using our bench enough, some girls never got a minute. Learnt nothing and forgot nothing 4/100
SADCNews|Using heavy artillery and high-caliber mortars, the army on Tuesday began shelling several key points in the province held by the rebels, the official statement from the Ministry of National Defence said.

The authorities confirmed the artillery bombardment resulted in the deaths, however, the exact number of casualties among the insurgents has not been disclosed.
The violent attacks conducted by the rebel movements in Cabo Delgado have claimed hundreds of lives since the start of this year. The criminals were seen not only murdering the civilians in the area but also raping the women and children while taking some of them hostage.

Former radio disc jockey, Caleb Thodhlana popularly known as Mr CT, has died.
He was 60.
According to his younger brother, veteran journalist Barnabas Thodhlana, Mr CT collapsed and died on Monday in South Africa due to high blood pressure complications.
The former presenter worked for ZBC’s then Radio 3 in the ‘80s and ‘90s and has been described as “one of the best rap DJs,” by those who worked with him.
Former colleague on the then Radio 3 Kudzi Marudza aka “Mr Cool”, who is now with ZBC Classic 263, said the whole team that worked with Mr CT was “deeply saddened” to hear of his death.
During the 1990s, Mr CT was popular among his peers, and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
“Mr CT was an instrumental DJ during the early days of Radio 3. He joined ZBC in 1981 as a librarian. I joined him in 1982 in the library department as well. I was then selected as ‘a standby voice’, and joined Mr CT when he moved to radio as a presenter,” said Marudza.
“Away from radio, we played together in a disco outfit called Easy by Night after I moved out from mine called Kool and the Gang. We will miss his energy, dedication and his commitment to radio. During the days of Easy by Night, we went as far as Gweru and Mutare playing music with Mr CT.
“Caleb Thodhlana was popular on Sunday slots between 3pm and 6pm, and because of his signature jazzy tune by the Victoria Falls-based group Mandebvu, everyone loved his shows.
Mr CT left Zimbabwe for Botswana where he worked as a radio DJ before joining South Africa’s Radio Bop in the late 1990s, where he proved his mettle.
In the later years the likes of Tich Mataz, Alice Chavunduka also joined Radio Bop, while Marudza went on to have a stint with BBC in London.
When Mr CT took over the Drive Time Show he became one of the station’s leading presenters when he launched the “MR CT” Fan Club.
“His love of music will be dearly missed by those listeners, who loved the music of the 80s, especially his other signature tune, ‘It Must Be the Music’ by the group Secret Weapon.”
“How sad to hear of his passing. Mr CT as he was known during his Radio 3 stint, was a cool fellow,” said entertainment journalist Vivian Maravanyika, now based in the United Kingdom.
Among those that worked with him during his early days on the then Radio 3 are Mike Mhundwa, Marudza, Josh Makawa, John “The Boss” Matinde, Busi Chindove, Eunice Goto, Musi Khumalo and Admire Taderera.
Mr CT also presented ZBC/TV Sounds on Saturday, among other musical television programmes.
Friends and colleagues also took to social media to pay tribute to Mr CT. One said he was in awe of his style on radio, bubbly attitude and musical knowledge, while another said he will be sorely missed.
Born to Reverend and Mrs Thondhlana of Rugare Baptist Church, Mr CT went to St Peter’s Kubatana High School in Highfield, where he met broadcasters-to-be Noah Pashapa and Ben Mauchaza of the popular Rock n Roll Radio 3 programme.
According to Barnabas, the family is now working on bringing his body home this week, “if all goes according to plan.”
State Media|Zanu-PF has thrown its weight behind the SADC-organised day of solidarity against sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and called on the people to come out in large numbers for the event.
Government has since declared tomorrow a public holiday to allow as many people as possible to participate.
The main event will be at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
SADC member states will also have activities on the day, to press the West to lift the sanctions.
In a statement yesterday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Simon Khaya Moyo said the sanctions, which the party claims are crippling all developmental endeavours, should be removed.
“October 25 is beckoning,” he said.
“A day set aside by the regional body, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government at its 39th Ordinary Summit held at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, on the 17th and 18th of August 2019 to unequivocally call for the unconditional lifting of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West.
“Since the imposition of these illegal sanctions in 2002, they have been an overt declaration of asymmetrical warfare on the country and its citizens.
‘‘They have impacted negatively the socio-economic sphere of all the people irrespective of their political affiliation.
“Further, sanctions are at the core of economic challenges bedevilling the country. It is now common knowledge that the United States of America and its allies have instructed its nationals sitting on corporate boards to block any intended financial flows into Zimbabwe and the subsequent forfeiture of any money which would have passed through it.
“These criminal and diabolic acts have led to the collapse and closure of industries and retail establishments wherein people derived their livelihoods. The clarion call is for these illegal sanctions to be removed NOW.
“Let every citizen be heard on this matter. Zimbabweans are therefore urged to gather in their multitudes across the country on Friday October 25, 2019 and declare that ENOUGH is ENOUGH.”
Khaya Moyo said the sanctions were an act of terrorism against Zimbabwe.
He said the cost to the Zimbabwean economy have been estimated to be in billions of United States dollars.
“While the nation is resourced abundantly with minerals, it has been difficult to access capital to exploit them due to the created perception of a high risk destination,” said Khaya Moyo.
“Economic opportunities and hope for the indigenous people have been destroyed due to these machinations.
“The sanctity of human life has always been of paramount importance. The sad tale of our hospitals bears testimony to the ravaging effects of this man- made scourge.
‘‘These multi-faceted sanctions have caused the shortage of medicines and critical equipment in hospitals.
‘‘Lives have been needlessly lost leading to the emergence of child-headed families, widows and orphans. These are the debilitating effects of this catastrophe which has been foisted upon Zimbabweans.”
Khaya Moyo said the party was grateful for the leadership of President Mnangagwa, who they claim has navigated the country through the difficulty epoch.
By Own Correspondent| ZANU PF MPs deserted Parliament when speaker of parliament Jacob Mudenda clashed with MDC MPs.
It all happened when Mudenda had ruled that Zengeza MP, Job Sikhala together with Hon Toffa should exit the house.
The two refused and swiftly obtained protection from the rest of their party colleagues.
Mudenda also ordered police to eject Toffa and Sikhala, but the cops did not comply. The law says that no police officer should enter the house. Mudenda wanted the officers to enter the building and eject the MPs, albeit to no avail. The MDC MPs then broke into song to the tune of “Chamisa Mai Mwana!” Somewhat responding to the “electricity” in the house, the singing, ZANU PF deserted the house.
Aside this, Mudenda also caused chaos by announcing that MDC MPs are now banned from asking questions.
Below is a clip from the latter animated moments, as well a news roundup catchup:
Paul Nyathi|Former Botswana President Ian Khama has denied having an affair with former South African Energy Minister Jeff Radebe’s wife, Bridgette, and he said cronies of his successor Mokgweetsi Masisi made up the story.
South Africa and Botswana had to mend relations after a telephone conversation in which Radebe was accused of hatching a plot to unseat Masisi was leaked and Botswana slapped her with a travel ban.
Khama sat down with South African Eyewitness News for a wide-ranging exclusive interview, where he confirmed that he voted for the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) and shunned the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), which made him president.
Khama defended Radebe, saying all she did was try to mediate his differences with Masisi, with Radebe saying she would never destabilise another country.
Khama said he regretted that South Africa had to be drawn into his public disapproval of Masisi.
He said the party he voted for, the BPF, would take support from the BDP.
“I think there will be a dent. I don’t know how much, but we decided to not stand in all constituencies and our project was to form an alliance with the main opposition party.”
The Botswana media reported recently that Khama was the cause of troubles in the Radebe home, but he denied this.
“I’m not having an affair with her. I can tell you categorically that is fake news put out by Masisi’s cronies. I take my hat off to her for trying to reconcile my differences with Masisi and his differences with me.”
Meanwhile, Radebe is contemplating suing Khama for wrecking his marriage.
Radebe and Motsepe are currently on separation with the former minister still staying at their Sandhurst, Sandton mansion while Motsepe has moved to a five star hotel – Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff in Sandton.
Radebe has already engaged one of South Africa’s top lawyers Themba Langa to institute divorce proceedings. Langa has also been instructed to explore possibilities of civil proceedings against Khama in Botswana courts for breaking up Radebe’s marriage. This was after a private investigator engaged by Radebe intercepted SMS communication in which Khama allegedly gave Motsepe ultimatums to break up with Radebe or never hear from him again.
Molapowabojang — A 77-year-old man has been reported to have passed away at Molapowabojang, while waiting on the queue to cast his vote.
According to the Botswana Police Spokesperson, Mr Dipheko Motube the man collapsed at Molapowabojang West Polling station at Tshweneyagae Kgotla, which is under the Mmathethe-Molapowabojang constituency.
He said the man was rushed to Molapowabojang clinic, where he was certified dead upon arrival.
ZIMBABWE’S central bank deputy governor Jesimen Chipika says the nation is grappling with symptomatic challenges instead of tackling structural problems in the economy, and has vowed that the multi-currency regime will not comeback.
Addressing guests at the Zimbabwe Independent’s Banks & Banking Survey awards-presentation ceremony in Harare last week on Thursday, Chipika made it clear that there were no prospects of Zimbabwe returning to the United States dollar.
“We are grappling as a nation to separate the structural challenges versus the symptomatic challenges and a lot of times it is the symptomatic challenges that have appeared more frequent than the structural,” she said.
“We should go back to addressing the structural challenges and I would want to agree with those of you that keep on saying let’s go back to production. The real economy is on production. Those are the structural issues of the economy.”
Chipika said prices of basic commodities were no longer rising at a brisk pace on a month-on-month basis. The pronouncement drew murmurs of disapproval from the guests.
Zimbabwe’s official year-on-year inflation rate was last recorded at 300% in August and computed at 353% in September 2019.
Just last week, the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB) advised that there was broad consensus within the accounting and auditing professions to apply International Accounting Standard 29 (Financial Reporting in Hyperinflationary Economies), when reporting on accounts in Zimbabwe.
Chipika said the introduction of the Zimdollar has seen a sharp decline in parallel market activities and an increase in the demand for the local currency.
On the untimely introduction of the Zimbabwean dollar and the outlawing of the US dollar as legal tender in June, she said there was no way an inter-bank exchange rate was going to coexist with a multi-currency regime.
“The opportunities for arbitrage were totally out of control. This led us to the June 24 decision. Multi-currency was no longer working in our country. We had to go back to the monocurrency. The Zimdollar helped hold other worries of post-dollarisation,” she said.
Chipika said the US dollar, a strong currency, made local production uncompetitive. The Zimdollar’s introduction has also assisted companies to re-enter the export market, she added.
Chipika said the monocurrency was the new normal for Zimbabwe although it might not be perfect.
“We have seen from analysis that it was very difficult for exporters when we had a 1:1 parity policy. The exporters are our lifeblood,” she said.
“Remember the bond notes were in produce as an incentive.”
Chipika said exporters were failing to enter other markets as they were producing in a high-value currency.
“The Zimbabwe dollar may not be perfect but we are getting there,” Chipika said.
“We have seen the reduced trading of foreign currency on the black market and we are seeing stronger demand for the local currency.”
She said this comes at a time foreign currency receipts plunged 24% to US$2,58 billion on the forts half of the year as the capital-starved southern African country battles to lure investment. Total foreign exchange receipts included exports, international remittances, offshore loan proceeds, income receipts and foreign investment proceeds for the period January to June 2019.
The major foreign currency earners, which include mining, whose earnings plunged by 19% to US$1,24 billion from US$1,54 billion and agriculture (including horticulture and tobacco) dropped 9,9% to US$318,2 million from US$353 million.
In the midst of the various economic turmoils, Chipika said the central bank’s monetary policy stance going forward will be premised on confidence building to minimise adverse inflation expectations; credit enhancing policies to support domestic production and productivity, necessary to guarantee stability of the local currency.
8“Savings mobilisation to support domestic production, macro-prudential policies to safeguard the health of the financial sector and general macro-economic performance; and responses to technological innovations, climate change and broader sustainability issues to enhance survival of financial institutions under the fourth industrial revolution,” she said.
State Media|A GOLD dealer (31) is battling for life in hospital after he was shot by six men who got away with over US$40 000 cash, 400 grams of gold and other valuables including cellphones all worth over US$65 000.
Thulani Moyo is admitted to the intensive care unit at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo after he was shot at his home in Ilanda suburb on Tuesday at around 2PM.
When The Chronicle visited his residence where the gold dealer’s office is also located, relatives said Moyo was lucky to be alive.
“He was lucky to survive but the situation is very bad. He is in the intensive care unit and we are hoping that he recovers soon. We cannot give any further information,” said a relative who refused to be identified.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Chief Inspector Precious Simango said the gold dealer received a phone call from an unknown person who said he was selling gold.
“The complainant instructed one of his employees, who is the company driver to go and fetch the clients at Townsend Girls High School gate. When he arrived, he found a white Fun Cargo parked at the school gate and could not see the total number of occupants. He gave them the signal to follow him,” she said.
On arrival at the gold dealer’s house, the suspects, numbering about six, according to sources, allegedly disembarked from the Fun Cargo which drove away and they were led to the smelting room.
“The person who had called gave the smelter 13,5 grams of gold. After smelting, the accused persons proceeded to the office for weighing and selling where they found the complainant (the gold dealer) in the company of another male adult who is a gold buying agent of Fidelity Printers,” said Chief Insp Simango.
She said one of the ‘clients’ drew a pistol while the gold was being weighed and demanded money.
“Whilst the gold was being weighed one of the accused produced a pistol and pointed at the complainant ordering him to lie down. When the complainant was trying to get down the accused shot him in the abdomen,” she said.
The other accused person allegedly produced a revolver, pointed it at one of the gold dealer’s employees and ordered him to surrender money and gold.
Chief Insp Simango said the employee allegedly took 400 grams of gold worth about US$20 000, US$40 000 and gave the armed robbers.
She said the robbers allegedly demanded more money, force-marched the employee to another room where the safe is kept and discovered that it was already open and empty.
The armed robbers allegedly ordered four of the complainant’s employees to get inside the kitchen and lie down.
They allegedly tied them, took two Huawei cellphones, a Samsung cellphone and hit one of the employees on the head with a pistol butt and he suffered a deep cut on the back of the head.
Chief Insp Simango said the accused persons took the complainant’s car keys, left his car and fled through the gate on foot to a waiting car.
Moyo was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital. Chief Inspector Simango urged people and businesses to employ security personnel from reputable security companies.
“Police in Bulawayo are appealing to members of the public to employ security guards from reputable security companies to safeguard their valuable property and to avoid keeping or moving around with large sums of money at their homes or on themselves as this will aid or help in reducing armed robbery cases,” Chief Insp Simango said.
State Media|JSE-listed entity, Pick n Pay, says its Rest of Africa half year to September earnings were 80 percent lower, weighed down by its Zimbabwe based operations.
The retail giant said the economic challenges in Zimbabwe, where it has a 49 percent stake, had significantly affected its earnings.
“Reported earnings from the Rest of Africa division were down 79,8 percent year-on-year, reflecting difficult economic conditions in Zimbabwe, with the group’s share of associate income now recognised under hyperinflation accounting,” reads the company’s statement accompanying results.
“TM’s trading result in Zimbabwe was at par with last year, although its contribution to income fell on the back of foreign exchange losses and hyperinflation.”
Zimbabwe is going through a challenging operating environment with inflation having reached 175,6 percent at the last official count.
The month-on-month inflation has, however, slowed and stood at 17,7 percent in September down from 18,03 percent in August. The exchange rate also continues to weaken and has lost 84 percent of its value since it was floated back in February.
“Economic conditions in Zimbabwe have been particularly difficult, with businesses and consumers grappling with political and social instability, high levels of inflation, currency devaluation and shortages of staple goods and services,” Pick n Pay said.
In line with the hyper-inflationary environment in Zimbabwe, the group had to apply the provisions of IAS 29 in the recognition of its share of associate income in Zimbabwe.
“This has resulted in a hyperinflation net monetary gain over the period, and a related capital impairment.”
The group’s net asset value was impacted by a reduction in the foreign currency translation reserve of R132,3 million as a result of the translation of its investment in TM Supermarkets at a rate of 12,4 Zimbabwe dollars to 1 US dollar (FY2019: 3,3 Zimbabwe dollars to 1 US dollar).
“The fair value of the group’s investment in TM exceeds its carrying value of R50,4 million and no further impairment is required.”
Although the local business faced some challenges, it was, however, on an expansion drive and recently it opened a state-of-the-art Victoria Falls branch. The Victoria Falls branch brought to 55, the number of retail stores under the group countrywide and is targeting to increase the number to 60 in the foreseeable future. The new retail outlet is one of the anchor shops in the new Victoria Falls (Sawanga) shopping mall whose construction was financed by ZimRe Properties.
ZimRe Properties said it spend more than $13 million on the shopping mall that has changed the complexion of retail business in the resort town.
Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza
State Media|THE National Social Security Authority (NSSA) board has sent 24 executives on forced leave to pave way for investigations after they were implicated in wrongdoing by the recently published forensic audit report.
In an interview yesterday, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza could neither confirm nor deny the developments, but a document seen by state media shows that 24 executives had been affected.
The document is believed to have been authored by NSSA board chairman Dr Cuthbert Chidoori.
Minister Nzenza, however, said the board would act on the recommendations of lawyers who unpacked the audit report.
“The board is taking necessary action based on recommendations from the expert lawyers who unpacked the forensic report,” said Minister Nzenza.
“To date, the chairman and the board have stated that all current staff who are implicated in the forensic report will be asked to go on mandatory leave for an indefinite period, to give ample time for the board to deal with the issues raised against them.”
Minister Nzenza said after the investigations, those found to have committed offences will be fired, while those cleared will return to work.
“As soon as the responses are received, they will be analysed to determine whether the employees should be reinstated or not,” she said.
“The board is working closely with relevant lawyers. The ministry continues to ensure that good corporate governance is followed.”
Minister Nzenza said sending implicated staffers on forced leave was part of a process aimed at reforming NSSA, which she said is a “long-term project”.
A team of expert lawyers and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) are looking into all issues raised against current employees, with the board steering the process.
The courts will deal with any issues that fall under their purview.
The forensic audit report unearthed shocking corruption, fraud, criminal abuse of office and theft that saw the authority being prejudiced of over US$175 million.
Executives are alleged to have awarded themselves unapproved loans and benefits to the tune of US$306 195, while non-executive directors got US$86 322. The forensic audit report also exposed unfair labour practices, including cases where those that performed badly during interviews got jobs at the expense of those who excelled.
State Media|The Supreme Court yesterday reserved judgment in the matter in which MDC-Alliance leaders Nelson Chamisa and Morgan Komichi are appealing against a High Court ruling in May this year which declared that Chamisa was illegitimately acting as the party leader.
Dr Khupe yesterday asked the Supreme Court to throw out Mr Nelson Chamisa’s appeal on legitimacy to enable her to hold an extraordinary congress and pick up the pieces.
Giving submissions to a bench of Supreme Court Judges Justices Bharat Patel, Paddington Garwe and Antonia Guvava during proceedings beamed live on ZTV, Dr Khupe, through her lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku, said the dismissal of the appeal will reinstate her as the proper leader of the Movement for Democratic Change.
“If we get the order we will go back and start from February 15, 2018,” said Prof Madhuku.
“All the meetings that took place after February 15 are unlawful. The meeting of February 15 was held hours after the death of MDC founder Mr Morgan Tsvangirai. It appears the people came for a funeral and convened the meeting.
“By that time, the party already had an acting president, Khupe, and only she had the power to convene such a meeting. The meeting was invalid and in contradiction with the party constitution.”
Prof Madhuku said the court aquo was correct in saying that the constitution of MDC did not provide for two deputy presidents.
He said a proper interpretation of the party constitution revealed that only one deputy president was elected at their 2014 congress.
“The president did not have the power to appoint persons that ought to be elected,” said Prof Madhuku.
Advocate Thabani Mpofu, who is representing Chamisa and Komichi, said the party’s national council mandated Tsvangirai to appoint his deputies.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda yesterday caused a major pandemonium in the House of Assembly after he barred opposition MDC legislators from directing questions at Government ministers, saying they will only do so after they recognise Emmerson Mnangagwa as the Head of State and Government.
The ruling was made after Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Leader of Government business in the House Ziyambi Ziyambi, rose on a point of privilege and sought guidance if it was prudent to allow opposition legislators to ask questions to Government ministers when they had refused to recognise President Mnangagwa, who is the appointing authority.
The ruling by Adv Mudenda followed the MDC MPs’ boycott of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Mnangagwa early this month.
The opposition legislators walked out of the Chamber while Mnangagwa was delivering his speech.
“I hear you Honourable Minister that in terms of the Constitution, Ministers belong to Cabinet and that Cabinet is comprised of the President,” said Adv Mudenda.
“Until we resolve the issue of acceptance by members of the opposition, the request by the Leader of the House stands.”
The ruling by Adv Mudenda resulted in chaotic scenes in the National Assembly as opposition members led by Zengeza West MP Mr Job Sikhala refuted the ruling.
A call by Adv Mudenda for Sikhala to restrain himself was not heeded as the opposition legislator became abusive.
Sikhala rallied his colleagues to rise and resist the directive by Adv Mudenda for him to leave the House as punishment for being unparliamentary.
“I am going to invoke the Constitution for Members who create despondency against lawful order of the Chair,” said Adv Mudenda.
“If this continues I shall not hesitate to name and shame members who shall be punished accordingly.”
Adv Mudenda was responding to Sikhala’s conduct who abruptly took the platform and began to direct abuse at Adv Mudenda as tempers flared in the House.
CAPS United failed to stomach defeat at the hands of title rivals Chicken Inn and resorted to violence in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.
Caps United fans, the club’s security team and players all displayed the ugly side of the beautiful game in what had otherwise been an entertaining duel until all hell broke loose in the 73rd minute.
Referee Happy Mabhena awarded the hosts a penalty in the 73rd minute after livewire Obriel Chirinda was felled by the visitors’ goalie Tonderai Mateyaunga inside the box.
Unhappy with the decision, the Caps United fans housed at the Mpilo end of the stadium rained missiles onto the field of play in protest.
Just like their fans, the Caps United players also lost their cool and walked off the pitch to their dugout after their aggressive confrontation of Mabhena proved fruitless.
They staged a six-minute protest, while Ronald Chitiyo continued to confront the referee.
After all the heated drama, defender Passmore Bernard kept his cool and sent the keeper the wrong way to thrust the Gamecocks into the lead.
Caps United pushed for an equaliser, but one could tell from their body language that they had lost their composure, as they resorted to long balls.
Soon after Mabhena blew the final whistle, Caps United substitute Blessing Sarupinda manhandled the referee. Some of his teammates tried to restrain him and suddenly it was a free for all, as more Caps United players menacingly charged at Mabhena.
Big striker Dominic Chungwa peeled off his shirt and attacked Mabhena before being stopped by Chicken Inn bouncers and police details.
But the “war’ wasn’t over as Caps United players and security team led by the trio of John Zhuwawu, Chungwa and Chitiyo were involved in a brawl with PSL bouncers, baying for Mabhena’s blood.
The shameful situation only calmed after more police details were deployed at the dressing room area. Away from the drama, Chicken Inn were the better side on the day.
Chirinda outran the Caps United defence on three occasions, but his decision making was horrible.
The visitors’ first real chance came in the 15th minute when Hardlife Zvirekwi broke on the left side and sent in a low cross, which was met by Chitiyo inside the box. The midfielder controlled the ball with ease and shot at goal, but his effort was blocked by a sliding Moses Jackson.
The Gamecocks had a penalty appeal turned down in the 23rd minute after Simon Munawa was hacked down inside the box by Dominic Mukandi, but Mabhena was unmoved.
On the stroke of half-time Innocent Muchaneka found himself free inside the box only to sky his effort from six yards.
In the second-half, the visitors fortified their midfield by bringing on a more defensive player in the form of Sarupinda. The move paid off as the Gamecocks midfield dominance waned.
The victory ended the Gamecocks’ three-game winless streak and brought them back into the title race. They now trail Caps United by four points with seven games to go. Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was happy to collect maximum points against their rivals.
“It was good to collect all three points. Of course, it’s just 1-0, but it gets us back into the title race. “We should have buried Caps United in the first-half, but we wasted a number of chances,” said Antipas.
His opposite number Darlington Dodo did not make it to the post-match interview following the dressing room brawl. The Caps United bus had to be escorted by police out of the stadium.State media
MP for Harare North Rusty Markham reports that on Friday 18th October, 2019, at 2.00 pm he received a call from local councilor Ian Makone regarding a shooting incident by the police at an area known as “Masawe” in the constituency.
Masawe is an informal settlement made up of unemployed and some ex-farm workers, located about 800m from the Enterprise Road tollgate going out of Harare, between the Shawasha/ Umwinsidale area.
The local councilor was already at Highlands police and was proceeding to the scene with the police. I arrived just after 3.00pm. Over 200 residents had gathered, and the police were there including investigating officers and the notorious fully armed riot police.
At the scene I saw a man in his 20s, lying in a small reed thatch shower/bath. His small hand towel was still over his shoulders, and the loose fitting sandals had fallen off his feet.
Residents reported that the man, Bruce Luka, had been accused of rape by his partner whom he lived with and already had a small child. The investigating officer, with 3 others, arrived and after some words shot Bruce Luka.
Police were investigating the scene, took notes, loaded the body and left with the riot squad at about 4.10pm. The body was taken to Parirenyatwa hospital morgue. On Sunday, the family was taken to the morgue but no report or contact had been received from Highlands’s police station. The post mortem date was set for the 31st of October.
With little to no cooperation from the Highlands police, the family reported the incident to PGHQ Complaints for internal investigations. The report reference number is 421/19. Residents from the Masawe area reported that the partner and the child, assisted by police, had been assisted by the police to go to their rural home in Buhera.
On Monday 21st October 2019, with the help of the councilor, the full report and complaint to the PGHQ complaints was filled in. The post mortem has been brought forward to Tuesday 22nd of October. The Minister of Home affairs was contacted and is now aware of the incident.
MP Markham voiced concern on this killing due to the impunity that police are working. A policeman cannot be killing and then investigating themselves. This is the third incident in that week, after one vendor was bludgeoned to death and died in custody after being denied medical treatment.
Further to this latest incident, the police officer involved has not been arrested or charged. No police apology or explanation has been forth coming. We are concerned that the policeman will carry on with their acts of impunity.
PRESIDENT Mnangagwa, in his capacity as chairperson of the Sadc Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, has called for calm in Mozambique as that country awaits the announcement of official results of the recent elections.
The country held presidential, legislative and provincial elections on October 15 and indications are that incumbent President Filipe Nyusi and his Frelimo party are poised to garner more than 70 percent of the total votes.
However, the opposition Renamo has dismissed the elections as a “fraud” and threatened to reject the outcome, raising fears that the disagreements over the polls could shake the Peace and National Reconciliation Agreement between President Nyusi and Renamo leader Mr Ossufo Momade, signed in August this year.
Against this background, President Mnangagwa yesterday called on all stakeholders in the polls to remain patient and calm while the results continue to be compiled for final validation and proclamation by the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Mozambique.
“Sadc further encourages contesting political parties and other stakeholders to observe the spirit of the Peace and National Reconciliation Agreement of 6th August, 2019, and maintain peace and stability, which is important not only for the Republic of Mozambique, but also for the entire Sadc region,” said President Mnangagwa in a statement.
“In the event of electoral disputes, Sadc further urges all political parties and contestants to resort to relevant legal mechanisms for the settlement of electoral disputes, including the District Judicial Courts, and the Constitutional Council, and appeals to Judicial institutions to determine electoral disputes within established timelines.”
President Mnangagwa affirmed the regional bloc’s support and commitment to the enhancement of democracy in Mozambique and the region as a whole.State media
ZPC Kariba kept intact their unbeaten run on an afternoon in form Highlanders striker Prince Dube saw red at Nyamhunga yesterday.
The home side opened the scoring in the 20th minute through Samuel Makawa.
The forward could have doubled the tally from a freekick after Tawanda Nyamandwe was deliberately pushed by Adrian Silla moments later. Highlanders then won a freekick in the 38th minute when Collen Muleya fouled Silla.
But the home side goalkeeper, Future Sibanda, did well to save the effort and while he was still on the ground, Prince Dube, deliberately fouled him. The Warriors forward was given his marching orders.
Bosso goalkeeper, Ariel Sibanda, then denied Nyamandwe in a one-on-one situation.
However, with nine minutes remaining Peter Muduhwa ghosted in from the blind side for the equaliser. “Today we never played very well, in terms of keeping the ball and creating chances,’’ said ZPC Kariba coach Godfrey Tamirepi.
‘’But we were a better team. ‘’We are actually dropping points at a very crucial time and it’s becoming very difficult for us to be in the championship race.’’
Bosso coach, Pieter de Jongh, was satisfied with the point. “The field was not even but the important thing is that we collected a point away,’’ he said.State media
Poor Zimbabweans will be forced to walk from Robert Mugabe Square to the National Sports Stadium while ED who is on the sanctions list will be escorted in an expensive car to the same venue by a huge security convoy.
After the event, he will be whisked away and the poor will walk home in the heat, hungry with nothing much to look forward to.
The next day after the march, Ed will jet away in a private chartered plane to sign Memorandum of Agreements and mega deals with his imaginery investors.
In the meantime:
You have no electricity; no job; struggle with school fees; no freedom of expression whilst ED and his chums live the high life.
Chivi Central MDC Youth Assembly Chair Chibhebhe is no more
At a time when the struggle for change has reached a crescendo as an assembly we have been looking at continuing working with tried and tested leaders like Chibhebhe.
During the 2008 one man run-off, ward 11 where the Chibhebhe family hail in particular managed to thwart ZANU PF violent machinery.
Through the visionary leadership of people like Chibhebhe ZANU PF failed to set torture bases.
And as an assembly we are saddened by such a loss of human resources at a critical time when we need to confront the ZANU PF regime in rural areas.
At one time after the inclusive government overzealous soldiers battered him at Chivi Growth point. His only crime was his unwavering support for the people’s struggle.
We would like to console the Chibhebhe family on the untimely death of Cde Chibhebhe.
May the family find comfort in the Lord, in a trying time like this. We would like to pass our condolences to Chivi Central MDC structures, let’s soldier on comrades and ensure we deliver the wish of Cde Chibhebhe.
Farai Dziva|Zinedine Zidane is not worried about star forward Eden Hazard’s form after the striker missed some good chances in front of goal in Real Madrid’s 1-0 Champions League victory at Galatasaray.
The Belgian has struggled to adapt since arriving at the Spanish giants after a big-money move from Chelsea in the pre-season.
The 28-year-old delivered a disappointing performance on Tuesday and was guilty of a particularly bad miss in the second half.
Hazard had an open goal in his sights after beating the advancing keeper but missed the target.
Commenting on the miss after the game, Zidane said: “It doesn’t worry me. He’s better, and he’s going to improve more.
“The important thing is that he continues to have chances because he’s going to put them in.”
Hazard, however, was credited with an assist after his intended pass to Karim Benzema was picked up by Toni Kroos who executed it.
DUE TO THE HEATWAVE AND HIGH TEMPERATURES CURRENTLY IN AFRICA, SNAKES, ESPECIALLY COBRAS, SEEK REFUGE IN COOLER PLACES LIKE INSIDE HOMES.
SAFETY TIPS
Avoid leaving windows open for too long. Cobras and Mambas can reach heights that are very high.
Avoid leaving your front doors open for fresh air in the evenings. These reptiles are absolutely STEALTHY (too quiet). You won’t hear or see them go inside your house.
3 Before sitting under the tree that has that cooling shade, check the branches that there are no snakes lurking in the branches.
Check your bed and surrounding before you go to bed, cobras are notorious for hiding under the sheets.
Avoid the age old trend of liking to chill outside of the house, with mattresses and wrappers in the evening. Most reptiles are nocturnal (hunt at night and more effective)
Not only snakes might bite you, but also the age old human enemy; the centipede (Mosithaphala), which is fast and very venomous.
Clear bushes round your house. They attract rats and mice which are the favourite snacks of the most dangerous snake’s favorite meal.
Buy snake repellent powder and pour it round your yard. You will definitely decrease the chances of a snake ever visiting your home by 90%.
Beware of confronting snakes that get into your homes. Some snakes can be killed easily, others like the black mamba are very cocky. If threatened, they will chase you at an alarming speed and give multiple bites while still on the chase; and bitten victims may not live to see the next forty minutes. So, just be very careful when trying to kill those snakes.

The British Ambassador to Zimbabwe has reportedly said Britain is ready to work with Zimbabwe the state media reports.
Mrs Robinson said this after paying a courtesy call to Speaker Of The Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda.
The Herald quoted the British envoy:
The Honourable Speaker and I had a good discussion this morning and the first thing we discussed was the continuation of trade between the UK and Zimbabwe.
We have excellent trade relationships at the moment over US$400 million of trade in goods from Zimbabwe go to the UK and just recently I was in the Eastern Highlands looking at one of the tea estates of which 95 percent of that tea goes to London and we were talking about ratifying our agreement to continue that trade so that the UK and Zimbabwe can continue the same level of trade after the UK has left the European Union so I was assured by the Speaker that that process is underway
The Britons have been reportedly looking the Zimbabwe way especially after Brexit is finalised. However other reports say Britain is preparing sanctions for Zimbabwe after Brexit.

“I was going to the dairy at around 3AM and I saw a bright light just like lightning. It streaked across the sky twice from the south. Later, I was surprised to hear women who were fetching firewood saying someone was dead,” said Mr Dube.
“I went to the scene and I saw the lifeless body of a man. I called the police, it was around 7 AM. We discovered another body that was burnt beyond recognition towards midday,” said Mr Dube.
Recently, President Mnangagwa said Zesa workers have a hand in the rampant vandalisation of electricity infrastructure.
Responding to questions from the floor at a Zim-Trade annual exporters conference in Bulawayo last week, President Mnangagwa said for one to tamper with Zesa infrastructure, they must have information on how to handle electricity because there is danger involved.
“We are convinced that those who steal transformers either work for Zesa or are related to Zesa workers because you need some degree of information and technology to steal these transformers and you must know that there is some danger involved,” said the President.

By Own Correspondent| Mystery surrounds circumstances which led to a local businessman being gunned down in a spray of bullets at Maphisa growth point.
Tapson Ncube, who had several business interests including mining, transport, retail, died on the spot following a shootout with unknown gunmen.
His killers however took nothing from the house and left Ncube’s terrified wife cowering in a bathroom as they fled the scene.
Sources said Ncube anticipated the attack as he allegedly told his wife to hide in the bathroom before his attackers sprayed their bedroom with bullets. His relatives said they were still in the dark over the issue.
“We were not there so we really don’t know what happened. What we know is that he was shot dead when unknown individuals raided his home this morning. His wife is the only one who could shed light on what transpired but she is not in a position to speak..
“No one saw the attackers. His wife was in the bathroom. That’s how she escaped. We don’t know the reasons behind the fatal shooting. We don’t know whether it was related to his business interests or personal life. But they did not steal anything from the house,” he said.
A source at Maphisa claimed Tapson’s killing, which he described as an assassination, was not a random attack.
“From what I’m gathering, Tapson might have had legitimate businesses but it’s not all he was doing. Some of his businesses could have been just a way of cleaning his dirty money.
“There are claims that he was involved in several cash in transit heists in South Africa. As it stands there are claims that his attackers could be some of his close relatives who left him with substantial amounts of cash when they conducted raids in South Africa but he was no longer forthcoming in giving them back their loot.
Other sources claim his son was involved with nefarious characters whom he cheated out of the spoils of a robbery.
Tapson is said to have refused to divulge his son’s whereabouts leading to his death which was a form of retribution. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he would comment on the matter today.

By A Correspondent| Opposition MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has urged Zanu Pf political elites to stop using the masses to march for the removal of targeted sanctions.
He urged Zanu Pf to instead implement laid down procedures that guarantee citizens’ peace for sanctions to be removed.
Said Chamisa:
Sanctions can not be removed just because someone marched. Those that imposed the targeted sanctions may not even notice that someone was marching.
The story of sanctions has always been filled with the lies. The truth is, at most 200 individuals including entities were slapped with sanctions following unprecedented human rights abuse, corruption and mass electoral malpractice.
That’s the truth. Zimbabwe as a country is not under sanctions. There are laid down procedures that may be followed if ever someone is serious about having sanctions removed.
Don’t use the poor people to march for you just because you want to withdraw money from frozen foreign accounts. Give people the peace. Make peace with all men.

Southern African Development Community (SADC) member countries will this week join the international campaign that is calling for the removal of sanctions against Zimbabwe.
This is in line with the African Union resolution to support Zimbabwe as the country struggles to rebuild its economy.
Among countries that have already shown for support for the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe are Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa and Zambia.
Many believe this call will not yield positive results while others says it will put pressure on the Western countries to review their position on Zimbabwe. Marches in solidarity with Zimbabwe are planned to take place on Friday in the different SADC countries.
The main march is expected to be in Harare where the ruling party – ZANU-PF is mobilising support for the action.

The continuation of human rights abuse by the Zimbabwean government clearly shows that there is no sign of joy for the people of Zimbabwe.
Arrests, abductions and torturing of civilians, opposition leaders, opposition members and artists has become the order of the day.

A group that was formed to terrorize opposition supporters, according to a band member who declined to be named for security reasons, he said “lnnocent lnnoman the band leader of The Harare Afros and his brother were attacked! Since then, they ran away we do not know their whereabouts.”
Chipangano is a group which was controlling the Mbare musika bus terminus during days of Mugabe’s rule.
Innocent and Brighton were accused of providing their bus services to MDC political party which was led by the late former Prime Minister and opposition leader Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.

Kasukuwere has been living in South Africa since the 2017 November coup. Reports have been circulating that the death of former President Mugabe might have resuscitated G40 party even though nothing has been confirmed.
By Jacob Mutisi- It is time for the youth to take the leading role as economic drivers. Zimbabwe is not in this economic turmoil because of sanctions, government policy need to shift 180 degrees.
How did Rhodesia and South Africa prosper under sanctions. With the white Afrikaners building the biggest economy in Africa. We do not need to create a wheel but just follow what these regimes did during their days of isolation.
We pride ourselves of having the best educated workforce but we do not have the industry to employ these educated individuals. That is why it is easy for a Zimbabwean to migrate to the west because we train managers.
The facts in Zimbabwe are here for all to see, Zimbabwe’s capital city,Harare has six universities and only one polytechnic, its seems the national policy is focusing on producing managers without the workforce to do the practical work. We need a complete shift, our government now needs to relook at the national policy which focuses on introducing more vocational institutions.
For Zimbabwe’s economy to kick-start, we now need to fully introduce apprentices and artisan programs. This strategy was used by Ian Douglas Smith to build Rhodesia during the white regime’s sixteen year rule. NRZ, Air Zimbabwe, Hwange, ZiscoSteel and SMM are all products of apprenticeship and artisanship programs.
These institutions are battling because Zimbabwe did not continue producing workforce to keep up with the exodus of the workforce to regional and international markets. The Rhodesian government national policy was focused on producing a practical workforce who would start as apprentices and end up being artisans.
An artisan is a worker in a skilled trade, that involves making things by hand. Bricklayers, builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, Welders, Fitters, Turners, Millwrights, Sheetmetal Workers, Boilermakers, Mechatronics, Mechanics, Toolmakers, Patternmakers, Joiners, Shutterhands, Steel fixers, Glaziers, Plasterers, Tilers, Sound technicians and Instrumentation and electronic technicians, just to name a few are all classified as artisans.
It is government policy to focus on producing a lot of graduates, our artisans are ageing and younger people are not exposed to the opportunities that are presented by Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF). ZIMDEF role is to finance the development of critical and highly skilled manpower through a 1% Training Levy paid by registered companies in Zimbabwe and this is not being fully exploited.
With the projected growth of universities, generally there is fear and concern that, in the next two decades, artisanship might disappear almost completely from the development landscape of Zimbabwe. While unemployment is a major concern in Zimbabwe, the lack of skilled artisans is a major barrier to job creation and economic growth.
Artisans play a huge and important role in the economic growth of our Zimbabwe and if we had more skilled artisans, it would also help our industries who are now often forced to look outside the country to find the right skillset due to the declining numbers.
There is also a theory that artisans are key because they all end up being entrepreneurs which is the prime cause of economic development which is critical now. The rapid disappearance of technical labour skills and services is a bad omen for Zimbabwe’s future development, since master artisans are now entrepreneurs.
Yet, our government and industrialist appear oblivious of this serious problem, as there are no concerted and concentrated researches and policy regarding this ominous development challenges taking place in our country.
There is now an urgent need to quickly increase numbers of artisans by increasing the number of vocational institutions as well as the need to improve the quality of artisan training which is a key driver of both economic growth and employment opportunities in Zimbabwe. With the current economic challenges, the demand for new artisans has become more limited to mining and manufacturing.
However, with the “Second Republic” push for economic growth, hopefully this situation will change as economic conditions improve and it is essential for Zimbabwe to maintain and increase its number of qualified artisans in the long term.

Stay well and be safe. It’s snake season. It’s very hot and they are highly active and get agitated and angry very fast.
