Dzamara And Linda Masarira Clash In Public

Own Correspondent|MDC-T Spokesperson Linda Masarira on Thursday clashed with Rights activist Patson Dzamara over Linda’s outcry that people are investing too much time in invading and analysing her social life.

Linda was responding after a video of herself drunk and threatening to beat a reveller at a bar went viral.

“We are stuck in the mud as a people because we major on ‘moralities’ and holier than thou attitudes.” Linda said. “We have too many life prefects and less problem solvers. The energy wasted on analysing my social life should be used productively on cross pollinating ideas on developing Zimbabwe. Have you ever heard me speaking of morality? Handirwadziwe zvekumhanya ndakadhiniwa kudhara.”

Patson Dzamara responded to Linda accusing her of being and attention seeker who uses unorthodox means to be a public figure.

“The energy you waste trying to make yourself a public figure through unorthodox means and kindergarten charlatanry could as well be put to good use.
“When some fall for your theatrics and give u the public figure status that you are shockingly desperate for…then live with it.”

Linda Masarira broke ranks with the opposition movement when she told the August 1 shooting Commission of Inquiry that Nelson Chamisa’s MDC Alliance youths received military training in Zambia and South Africa to rise against the Government in the event that they lost the July 30 harmonised elections.

“I can speak with confidence and evidence that there are two groups who were trained to lead protest though it is said that they were trained to do an uprising in a non-violent manner which is contrary to the actions that prevailed on August 1,” she said.

Since then, Linda has been at the receiving end of the opposition party members and political activist who are accusing Linda of selling hers soul to ZASNU PF in exchange of money.

Mudzuri Bunks Standing Committee Meeting

Elias Mudzuri
MDC vice-president Elias Mudzuri on Friday did not attend the party’s standing committee meeting.

The state owned Herald alleges that Mudzuri failed to attend the crunch indaba for fear of heckling, as happened to him last month at an MDC demonstration held in Harare.

The man was booed down when he tried to address the crowd and had to be whisked away from the event by the party’s security.

The Herald report claims: His attendance will obviously draw heckling, booing and, at worst, violence like what happened to former deputy treasurer Elton Mangoma just before the last split in 2014.

It is now a tricky situation for him because his continued absence can be used as a basis to take disciplinary measures against him.”

Dire Conditions At Govt Hospitals, Doctors Forced To Use Condoms In Place Of Latex Gloves

THE Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) has revealed that medical doctors have been forced to use condoms due to the shortage of disposable gloves in order to protect themselves when working.

The junior doctors have been on strike since December 1, protesting against inadequate allowances, poor working conditions and lack of essential drugs and equipment at public hospitals.

They have also demanded to be paid in foreign currency citing inflation and the increase in the price of goods.

In an interview with ZimLive, Prince Butau, the treasurer of the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA), said: “People are dying under our watch.

“As doctors, we’re also not psychologically in a good place because of the effects of the economy including price hikes and fuel shortages. There’s no personal protective equipment.

“Sometimes we’re forced to wear condoms when checking patients. Doctors are asking, until when practising bush medicine?”

The doctors have also accused the government of negotiating in bad faith and of using state media to spread “propaganda” about the state of the strike and the negotiations.

Twice now, the doctors have come out and exposed Minister of Health and Child Care Obadiah Moyo of lying about the negotiations after the minister lied that the strike had been resolved.

VID And Police Officers Raid Fuel Queues To Fish Out Unlicensed Vehicles

Correspondent|THE Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) has begun taking advantage of the ongoing fuel crisis to pounce on unregistered vehicles in fuel queues.

VID Officers check cars at a fuel queu in Harare

The VID, working in conjuction with the police, are also smoking out motorists driving without a valid drivers’ license, checking for car registration, insurance and all other required documents.

The operation has drawn mixed reactions from Zimbabweans.

Motorist Brain said “Maybe it’s just me, but I see absolutely nothing wrong, why would one drive without a licence or why should one’s car be on the road when it’s not supposed to be? “

A ZRP officer accompany VID Officers to check vehicles in fuel queues.

Amos Moyo said: ” I find it inhumane. You can’t beat a man when he is down, people sleep in queues and you make that an opportunity to collect fines! Are garages public or private spaces?”

Transport minister Joel Biggie Matiza yesaterday was reported as having said: “People were given a deadline and those that complied have no reason to be scared.

“We are after those that have failed to regularise their licenses as required by the law. Beginning today (yesterday), we will have officers inspecting all fuel queues to check vehicle registration and related issues.”

The latest move will also help us deal with those using unregistered vehicles as conduits to hoard fuel for resale on the black market.

Some people have taken advantage of the reduction of the number of police roadblocks to avoid paying their vehicle licences, which has put a dent on the government’s revenues.

Matiza said some of the cars targeted for deregistration were being used for hoarding fuel.

“The latest move will also help us deal with those using unregistered vehicles as conduits to hoard fuel for resale on the black market,” he said.

Chiyangwa Responds To Allegations Of Deliberately Bunking ZANU PF Conference, Tells ZimEye, “Gossip Ain’t Gonna Change Lives”

Philip Chiyangwa

By A Correspondent| ZANU PF Central Committee member, Hon. Phillip Chiyangwa has responded to allegations of deliberately bunking the ongoing Zanu PF conference in Bulawayo.

Social media was rife with reports claiming that he disrespected his leadership. But Chiyangwa told ZimEye in a brief response, that his bosses are already aware of the reasons why he could not attend.

He told ZimEye, “Zanu Pf has leadership, can I see a statement from the Party that you and them are relying upon?

“My party officially knows my disposition.

“Opinion manipulators know their dreams.

“In Zanu PF there is order , there [are] serious admin rules , thus rumour mongering and gossip ain’t gonna change lives but constructive engagement productivity and faith.”

“Its Payback Time” Vice President Chiwenga Tells Chamisa

By Own Correspondent| Vice President Constantino Guvheya Chiwenga has revealed that its pay back time for opposition MDC who initially spurned an olive branch from President Emmerson Mnangagwa following his landslide victory in the July 30 harmonised polls.

VP Chiwenga said this at the ongoing Zanu Pf national people’s conference in Esigodini Bulawayo.

He said:

“Cde President, you personally stretched out your hand to the opposition after zanu-pf’s July 30 landslide victory.

But the opposition spurned that hand. You have since withdrawn the well stretched hand. All of us follow, principally those of us in Parliament are very happy that our Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs (Ziyambi Ziyambi), acting in his capacity as leader of the House (in Parliament), sent a clear signal of paying back the opposition in the hard coin they have tossed us. They have chosen to disrespect our leader who is the Head of State of our nation (President Mnangagwa).

We have no reason to handle them with the respect they have voluntarily rejected,”

Last week, Minister Ziyambi chastised opposition parliamentarians for seeking to raise questions with Government ministers yet they chose not to recognise President Mnangagwa, who appointed the ministers.-StateMedia

Acid Test For Mandi Chimene’s Self Imposed Exile

By Own Correspondent| Vocal former Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Mandiitawepi Chimene could be forced to return from her self imposed exile anytime soon following Friday’s passing on of her 35-year-old daughter, Ellen Zimondi.

Zimondi, according to sources, had been admitted at the privately owned Murambi Gardens Clinic in Mutare over a two week period suffering from an undisclosed ailment.

In July this year, Zimondi appeared before a local magistrates’ court facing charges of impersonating Lands, Agriculture and Resettlement Minister Perence Shiri to fraudulently acquire farmland which she later sold to unsuspecting buyers.

She denied the charges.

The court heard that Zimondi claimed to be daughter to Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) boss, Paradzayi Zimondi.

But a lot of interest shall be centred on whether her once powerful mother, Chimene would finally decide to end nearly a year of self-imposed exile to attend her funeral.

The controversial former Zanu PF politician became more known for her fanatical opposition of then Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s presidential ambitions during former President Robert Mugabe’s rule.

During her time, Chimene, once a member of the infamous Generation 40 camp that was fiercely opposed to Mnangagwa’s succession plot, often organised solidarity marches in support of Mugabe and his wife, Grace.

She once led a war veterans splinter group after the mainstream war veterans association led by Christopher Mutsvangwa had braved a Mugabe backlash by standing firmly behind Mnangagwa’s bid to become President.

All came to a dramatic end when Mnangagwa, with the help of the military, November last year staged a coup against Mugabe, leaving his once fierce rivals at his mercy.

To save her own skin, Chimene reportedly skipped the country into neighbouring Mozambique and little of the once larger than life character has been heard since.-ZoomZim

“Forget About The MDC” Chiwenga Tells Mnangagwa

Correspondent|PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa reached out to the MDC Alliance after his July 30 election victory, a gesture the vanquished opposition party rejected as they chose to disrespect him, hence ZANU-PF would return the gesture, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said at Esigodini yesterday.

In his Vote of Thanks after the President’s keynote address, VP Chiwenga slammed MDC-Alliance for disrespecting the country’s leadership.

The MDC-Alliance attributed its loss to alleged rigging despite the fact that they lost in the country’s widely hailed electoral contest to date.

Said VP Chiwenga: “Cde President, you personally stretched out your hand to the opposition after Zanu-PF’s July 30 landslide victory.

“But the opposition spurned that hand. You have since withdrawn the well stretched hand.

“All of us follow, principally those of us in Parliament are very happy that our Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs (Ziyambi Ziyambi), acting in his capacity as leader of the House (in Parliament), sent a clear signal of paying back the opposition in the hard coin they have tossed us. They have chosen to disrespect our leader who is the Head of State of our nation (President Mnangagwa).”

“We have no reason to handle them with the respect they have voluntarily rejected,” VP Chiwenga said to applause from delegates.

Last week, Minister Ziyambi chastised opposition parliamentarians for seeking to raise questions with Government ministers yet they chose not to recognise President Mnangagwa, who appointed the ministers.

Minister Ziyambi said ministers would only respond to questions from opposition parliamentarians once they recognise President Mnangagwa as the winner of the July 30 Presidential elections.

The MDC Alliance has, ironically, been agitating to be included in Government.

VP Chiwenga said zanu-pf stands by the President to see him attain his Vision 2030 that seeks to ensure the country attains a middle income status in 12 years’ time.

President Mnangagwa, he said, had reset the direction of the party.

Determined Ministry Officials Find Body Of Drowned Colleague After Police Gave Up Search

UNDETTERED Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education officials continued to search for their missing colleague whose vehicle was swept away in heavy rains on Monday and ended up finding the body yesterday after police had called off the search.

Mr Richard Nyandoro, an Education Ministry accountant was travelling with Ms Samukeliso Dlamini, who was the Gwanda District Schools Inspector (DSI) when their vehicle was swept away following heavy rains on Monday evening at Mamsisi River Bridge in Ntalale Ward, Gwanda South.

Their vehicle was found by villagers on Tuesday morning along the river about 200 metres from the bridge lying on its roof.

Ms Dlamini’s body was recovered on Wednesday at around 6PM in a dam about eight kilometres from the bridge where the incident occurred as they were driving from Ntalale where they had gone on duty.

Since Monday efforts to locate Mr Nyandoro had been fruitless.

The police sub aqua unit from Bulawayo decided to abandon the search on Thursday at around 6PM after a two day search.

Matabeleland South Provincial Education Director Mr Lifias Masukume said a team comprising Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education officials, Gwanda Assistant District Administrator, community members and Nyandoro’s relatives continued with the search yesterday morning which led to recovery of the body.

A Ministry official found the body on the edge of the Mhenebolamba Dam.

Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele said police were called to the scene.

“I can confirm that the body which was still missing has been found at the dam. Police have been alerted to attend the scene, “he said.

Ntalale Ward councillor, Mr Coster Ndlovu who spent the whole day on Thursday at the scene said police called off the search at around 6PM.

He said the sub aqua team advised villagers to visit the nearest police station if anything arose.

“I spent the whole day at the scene where the sub aqua team was conducting the search. They searched the entire dam but found nothing. As villagers we ended searching from the dam going back to the bridge where we had started.

“The sub aqua team told us that they were calling off the search as they had done their best without luck. They told villagers to visit Guyu Police Station once we discovered anything and then they will be summoned. They also tasked us as community leaders to mobilise community members to continue with the search, “he said.

Meanwhile, teachers have bemoaned the death of their colleague, Ms Dlamini.

The Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association chief executive officer, Mr Sifiso Ndlovu, said it is sad that the Ministry lost the only female DSI in the province at a time when Government is advocating for gender balance through putting women in decision-making positions.

“This loss came as a blow to both Government and us because we have lost a hardworking woman who had put women on the map. This is a time when Government is advocating for gender balance through women empowerment,” he said.

Mr Ndlovu said it is the union’s desire to see more women in the Ministry taking up leadership positions.

“Ms Dlamini was a dedicated worker and l believe this incident caught her by surprise. I encourage my colleagues that as we are carrying our professional duties let’s be careful about our lives. Life lost cannot be compensated,” he said.

Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president, Dr Takavafira Zhou said the fact that the two met their fate on duty makes them academic heroes.

“We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the education fraternity at large. Their loss is our loss and their untimely death has robbed the education sector and the nation of dedicated cadres,” said Dr Zhou.

Furore Over Chivhayo’s Acquittal

By Own Correspondent| Citizens here have expressed concern following a High Court ruling that cleared controversial businessman, Wicknell Chivhayo of any wrongdoing in the Zimbabwe Power Company tender saga.

Addressing Zanu Pf delegates in Esigodini Bulawayo (Friday), President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he did not understand how the judiciary operates following the acquittal of the controversial businessman.

Independent legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa described the judiciary system as shaky accusing it of failing to deal with corruption.

Said Mliswa in a tweet:

“Corruption lives another day….What’s wrong with this country? Is the judicial system captured too? How will we deal with corruption now? I’m one who had faith in the judiciary now the 3 pillars are looking shaky… it’s very difficult.”

Chivayo’s court victory leaves Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) with the onus of paying him $25 million for breach of contract or to allow his company to proceed with the Gwanda solar project.

ZPC and Intratrek had signed $172 million agreement for the construction of the Gwanda solar project which Chivhayo failed to deliver.

Human rights lawyer and former education minister David Coltart  said failure by the Mnangagwa led administration to prosecute corruption cases was damaging the country.

Said Coltart:

“If this catch and release strategy of the Mnangagwa regime was not so damaging to #Zimbabwe this would be funny. The gulf between the rhetoric of “zero tolerance of corruption” and real action is widening. Mnangagwa and the ruining party’s smoke and mirrors game are now clear to all.”

Chivhayo’s acquittal follows revelations by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Dr John Mangudya that the central bank had absolved four of its officials previously implicated of illegal forex deals.

Said the RBZ in a statement:

“Members of the public will recall that on 22 October 2018 the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (the “Bank”) suspended, for an indefinite period, four of its staff members namely Messrs Mirirai Chiremba, Norman Mataruka, Gresham Muradzikwa and Azvinandawa Saburito pave way for investigations following some public utterances by Mr William Gerald Mutumanje (also known as Acie Lumumba) that the four directors were involved in corrupt activities and illicit currency dealings. At the time the Banlk advised that it would follow through and investigate the allegations and advise the public of the outcome.

The Bank and the law enforcement agents carried out investigations which on conclusion have revealed that Messrs Chiremba,  Mataruka, Muradzikwa and Saburi were not involved in the corrupt activities or an impropriety as alleged by Mr Mutumanje. The Bank would thus like to advise the public that the quarter has been accordingly absolved of any wrong doing.”

Mutodi’s Koreans Rush To Clear Him As One Of The Criminals Surrounding Mnangagwa

Own Correspondent|A grouping of would be Korean investors has released a joint statement claiming that they never paid Deputy Minister of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services Energy Mutodi money to meet President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In a statement the Korean based cult Universal Peace Federation refuted allegations that they paid Mutondi $500,000 as a ‘facilitation fee’ to meet President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Defense Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

SEE THE FULL STATEMENTS BELOW:

The Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) in conjunction with the Universal Peace Federation would like to make it clear that it never paid anyone anything to have access to His Excellency The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Reports that the Deputy Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services demanded a bribe to allow our officials to meet the President are false. Our regional Group Chairman has previously on couple of occasions met His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa.before meeting Hon. Mutodi without the need to buy favours.

Anybody interested in the truth can have access to the veracity of this information including visuals.

The allegations against Mutodi came after President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday told ZANU PF Central Committee that an official in his party charged a potential investor five million Rand to connect them to meet him.

“They say before I take you, pay up. One person told me that he was charged 5 million rand to come see me. He was told that three quarters of the money would go to the president (and the other quarter to the fixer),”Mnangagwa said. “So corruption, corruption, corruption, down with corruption. Being asked to pay to see (Defence minister Oppah) Muchinguri, down with corruption.”

Mandi Chimene’s Daughter With Zimondi Dies

SELF-EXILED former Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Mandiitawepi Chimene could be forced to abandon her Mozambican hideout anytime soon following Friday’s passing on of her 35-year-old daughter, Ellen Zimondi.

Horror As Teenager Kills Own Father, Cuts Off Genitals Dumps Them In Storm Drain

A 19-year-old Harare man allegedly murdered his father in cold blood before he sliced off his genitals following a dispute over a debt, a Harare magistrate’s court heard Friday.

The teenager committed the heinous crime on December 12 midnight before he cut off his parent’s genitals in a bid to stage manage a ritual killing.

Basilio Simbi, who is from Glen Norah high density suburb, was hauled before Harare magistrate, Rumbidzai Mugwagwa facing murder charges.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to a date next year.

It is alleged that the teenager committed the heinous crime on December 12 midnight before he cut off his parent’s genitals in a bid to stage manage a ritual killing.

Court heard, on the fateful day, the two were the only ones at home when a dispute arose.

The deceased, whose name was not mentioned in court, retired to bed as usual before his son later attacked him.

It is alleged that Simbi armed himself with two knives and a scissors which he used to stab his father.

The now deceased, court was further told, tried to resist the attack but was overpowered.

Simbi only sustained a deep cut on his arm.

Court heard, after stabbing his father, Simbi used the scissors to cut off his genitals.

Prosecuting, Shepherd Makonde said Simbi then took the naked body of his father to a local primary school and dumped it at an open space near the gate.

He allegedly went back home and cleaned his weapons and soiled blankets.

The teenager then took his father’s genitals and dumped them in a storm drainage nearby.

The body of his father was discovered by passers-by the following morning.

Investigations started and when the police went to Simbi’s place for interviews, they discovered he had a deep cut on one of his arms.

After questioning, it is alleged he confessed to having killed his father.

Simbi also led the police to where he had dumped his father’s genitals, court was further told.

Mphoko To Spend Christmas In Prison

Correspondent|FRAUD-accused Siqokoqela Mphoko, son to former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, on Thursday appeared before a Bulawayo regional magistrate in leg irons and was remanded in custody to 21 January next year.

He is facing up to 170 counts of fraud and theft for allegedly looting a total $80 000 worth of cash and goods from some Choppies Supermarkets.

Mphoko had his $200 bail revoked last week for allegedly interfering with state witnesses in violation of his bail conditions.

A subdued Mphoko appeared before regional magistrate, Trynos Utavashe clad in a khaki prison garb and in legs irons.

The former VP’s son, who was used to lavish and comfortable life outside prison, will now spend Christmas and New Year holidays behind bars unless his application opposing the revocation of his bail pending trial succeeds.

His lawyer, Professor Welshman Ncube of Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers on Tuesday this week filed an appeal at the Bulawayo High Court challenging the revocation of bail pending trial. He cited the state as Respondent. The application is still pending hearing.

Mphoko, who is shareholder and non-executive director within the supermarket chain, is accused of abusing his powers to “loot” cash realised from sales at different supermarkets and replacing it with bank transfers.

Between July last year and June this year, Mphoko allegedly went to various Choppies supermarkets to demand varying amounts of cash, goods and services from employees without approval from the board.

He is accused of collecting cash, groceries and some building material and later ordering the chain store’s finance department to deduct the money from his salary.

Although he was not supposed to be directly involved in the day-to-day operations of Choppies, Mphoko allegedly masqueraded as the owner of the company in Zimbabwe and even allegedly threatened to either dismiss or deport employees of Indian origin for defying his orders.

Former VP Mphoko and his son on one hand are battling for control of the chain store after partners within the Botswana registered retail giant have insisted the family owned just seven percent shares in the company while the Mphokos claim they own the majority stake with 51% of the business.

The wrangle has spilled into the courts.

On A Lighter Note, Chamisa Caught Up In Stonyeni Wave

Correspondent|THERE is a light side to politics, as MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa showed on Twitter when one of his followers greeted him.

Chamisa had tweeted serious business regarding City of Harare’s smart schools campaign. He said: “SMART SERVICE DELIVERY.. Had a wonderful time to witness the consummation of the VISION to make Harare a world class SMART CITY by 2025.

“The Harare City Council is set to construct a SMART primary school in ward 44, Kuwadzana Extension, Harare.”

Chamisa showed he has also caught to the “stonyeni” wave after one user by the name of ‘Minister of ‘Stonyenilisation’ commented on his SMART City launch tweet.

“Good evening Mr. President,” said the weirdly named Twitter user.

Chamisa’s response:

“Minister Minister ummm ministry yenyu iyo!!”

The term ‘stonyeni’ was first coined by singer Jah Signal who has a song bearing the same title.

According to Jah Signal Stonyeni means love however some have subverted the meaning.

Magistrate In Soup Over Biti Trial

By Own Correspondent|A regional magistrate here presiding over the trial of MDC deputy chairperson Tendai Biti, has landed herself in trouble after she unsuccessfully tried to recant her earlier ruling allowing for media livestreaming of the trial, saying she had made the decision in “error”.

Gloria Takundwa, who this week was labelled “very stupid or very brave or both” by Michael Reza for allowing livestreaming of the case before consulting her boss, filed for a review of her decision before the High Court, saying she had erred.

However, her bid hit a brickwall, with the High Court saying her earlier decision should stand.

Biti, who stands accused of illegally announcing results of the July 30 poll, had through his lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa applied for livestreaming of the matter, arguing it was of public interest.

Chief law officer prosecutor Reza, who was recused from the case, in a leaked message early this week, allegedly described the magistrate as “very stupid or very brave or both” for allowing livestreaming of the case without consulting Chief Justice Luke Malaba.

Mtetwa then complained to Takundwa seeking to have Reza held in contempt of court, but the magistrate postponed the matter, saying she wanted to seek guidance from the High Court.

In her letter to the High Court, Takundwa said she granted the order for livestreaming in error.

“May you urgently place before a judge to review these proceedings on the grounds as stated that I am of the firm view that jurisdiction was absent in light of the fact that the application for media livestreaming was done in terms of the right to access to information,” she said.

“I granted the order in error in that no specific media house was appointed nor mentioned and whether such media house is licensed. There is no law regulating such an application, so the court acted outside the confinement of the law.”

But High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa declined to consider the review, saying Takundwa filed her letter without submissions of the proceedings for the State and defence.

Musakwa said he had no idea of what Takundwa considered in granting the application and said she should have accompanied her letter with detailed reasons that had been cited in court.

“I also note in passing that the trial magistrate granted livestreaming to unspecified media houses.”-Newsday

Chiyangwa’s Challenger Arrested

ASPIRING Zifa president Felton Kamambo, who is challenging incumbent Philip Chiyangwa for the post, was yesterday picked up by the police on allegations of threatening violence on the association’s general secretary Joseph Mamutse, last month.

Kamambo spent about at hour at Highlands Police Station and was later released after signing a warned and cautioned statement.

He was charged under Section 186 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. The former Zifa executive committee member is alleged to have threatened violence on Mamutse and the case was first reported on November 6.

He is set to appear in court on Tuesday to answer the charges.

After his release, Kamambo said he was confident of winning the election tomorrow, adding his arrest was part of dirty tricks being employed by the Chiyangwa camp to stop him from contesting tomorrow’s polls.

“I was surprised when I was invited to the police station. I didn’t know what I had done, but I was told of the charge and I will be appearing in court next week,” he said. “I am looking forward to the elections and I will trounce Chiyangwa.”

Three Fifa observers arrived in Harare yesterday, while a Caf representative is set to come in today to observe the hotly contested polls.

Meanwhile, Kamambo has predicted a 40-20 victory against Chiyangwa in Zifa’s executive committee elections set for tomorrow

Kamambo and Chiyangwa are the only candidates vying for the top post, while Zifa deputy president Omega Sibanda and former Southern Region chairperson Gift Banda will tussle for the vice-president’s post. For the other four slots for ordinary executive committee posts, the tussle involves Sugar Chagonda, Mlungisi Moyo, Chamu Chiwanza, Stanley Chapeta, Philemon Machana and Brighton Malandule.

However, focus will be mainly on the contest between Kamambo and Chiyangwa – two of the game’s figures who have been wrestling since the former resigned in March arguing the mandate of the then Zifa board had expired.

Chiyangwa unsuccessfully tried to bar Kamambo from contesting on the grounds that he was serving a suspension – an allegation dismissed by world soccer governing body Fifa, who ordered that the former Zifa board member be allowed to contest.

Kamambo said he had the backing of football stakeholders and would trounce Chiyangwa.

He predicted a 40-20 victory against the Harare businessman, whose reign as Zifa boss has been characterised by a lot of hostility among football stakeholders. That hostility has continued to alienate Zimbabwean football from the corporate world. Kamambo said he has done his home work and expressed confidence he would defeat Chiyangwa in tomorrow’s elections.

“Generally, football stakeholders are not happy with the way the Zifa leadership has been managing the game. They are disillusioned and want a change in the way the game is being run. There are a lot of clashes of conflict in our game and that does not augur well for the development of football. Football should be run as a business and the environment in our football is toxic and not conducive for the smooth flow of business. I have got the support of football stakeholders and I am confident of a comprehensive victory against Chiyangwa – a 40-20 victory,” he said.

Kamambo pledged a more efficient, richer, transparent and successful administration if he wins the mandate to lead the football federation.

The former Mhangura player worked under Chiyangwa’s stewardship in the board from 2015 until February this year before he quit the executive committee, arguing that the Zifa board’s term of office had lapsed.

But Chiyangwa, Sibanda and Machana have stayed in the board since then.

Kamambo, in his election manifesto, also promised the football public to include the re-establishment of the FA Cup, the introduction of the Zifa awards, channelling more funds to football development as well as construction of a building to house the association’s offices.

Under his administration, Kamambo wants to see Zifa open up more revenue streams so that it efficiently finances all its activities. He wants to see Zifa owning, among other things, mines and farms other than relying on Fifa and Caf cash handouts.

90 DAYS ADONIJAH IS KILLED: Apostle Chiwenga Humiliated As Guvheya Backs ED To The Fullest

By Dorrothy Moyo| The populist and Harare preacher, Talent Chiwenga was humiliated yesterday when his cousin brother came out in full support of his boss, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Talent Chiwenga’ s “prophecy” in July in which he claimed that within 90 days “the election thieves” would fall on each others’ throats, came to naught as Chiwenga said he is backing Mnangagwa for a full two terms (10 years).

Talent Chiwenga has also claimed that an Adonijah and a Joab who perforned a coup on the King would both die.

Talent Chiwenga has recently also made false claims that Emmerson Mnangagwa is clueless about who sent soldiers to kill civilians on the 1st August 2018, blaming everything on his cousin brother, Constantino.

Yesterday, Constantino Chiwenga took to the podium to praise his boss, Mnangagwa calling him a consistent revolutionary who has never betrayed the revolutionary party. He dispelled long standing reports that he wants to be President of the Party.

Chiwenga read his speech saying,  “President and First Secretary, I would like to assure you that as a party we are fully behind you as our Political commander in chief. We have heard your orders and we will fully implement them to the letter.

“We also heard Your Excellency, the call for all of us to discuss the National question. Your clarion call for the strict adherence to the party line has been heard and shall be listened to.”

Chiwenga also took a turn to endorse Mnangagwa as the sole candidate of ZANU PF in 2023. He said, “your Excellency, from now until 2023 you are our one and only presidential candidate. Our constitution allows you two full terms and you shall have them. This we are doing it so that the party Zanu PF continues to draw from your wise compassionate leadership. We are starting now to prepare for your victory which we know is sure to come.”

Chiwenga Endorses Mnangagwa, Is He Being Genuine?

ZIMBABWE is in the hands of a leader with a vision that does not need to be disturbed and President Mnangagwa will have a Constitutional mandate to serve his two full terms, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said here yesterday.

Giving his vote of thanks after the President’s keynote address, VP Chiwenga thanked the President for charting a clear course for the party.

His sentiments were echoed by national chairwoman Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri who rapped detractors who claimed there was infighting in the Presidium.

“Cde President, I rise on behalf of the entire collection of delegates to the 17th Annual National People’s Conference, to register and express this conference’s profound gratitude and heartfeltness for the directional address you have just given.

“The direction of our party is now clear than ever before. The orders from yourself as our Commander-in-Chief are as clear as daylight.

“The pace we must pursue in fulfilling your orders is well said. Equally the goals are clear and beckoning. It is now business, business, business. It is now economics, economics, economics.

“We must recover the economy, we must grow the economy. We must create jobs especially for our youth. You set vision 2030, by which our country should attain Middle Income status. The Transitional Stabilisation Programme is now underway to take us thus towards that goal.

“ . . . on behalf of all the delegates who have come from all the corners of our country, I want to thank you, Shumba Murambwi. I can say to you, from now until 2023, when the next elections fall due that you are our one and only presidential candidate.

“Our national Constitution allows you the full two terms, so you shall have so that the party, Zanu-PF, continues to draw from your wise leadership,” VP Chiwenga said.

The founding ideals, values and goals of the country’s liberation struggle, VP Chiwenga said, should not be tampered with.

“As our leader, you have reset the campus, stood up to point the direction of the national party,” said the Vice President.

“Henceforth, all feet must march and thud in unison. All eyes set on the goals yonder. None must march out of step. None must look away from the set goal.

“ . . . indeed let us all be found and abide by the highest moral code that
bequeath genuine revolutionaries.

“We in leadership must exhibit and be found very high in impeccable moral standards.”

“You underscored the need for unity and discipline in the party. And discipline means strict adherence to the party line, respecting and advancing the corrective path of the party.”

Muchinguri-Kashiri, who spoke after the VP’s vote of thanks, rapped deytractors who were spreading stories of alleged infighting in the Presidium saying they should stop trying to divide the leadership which was focused on addressing the prevailing economic challenges.

“Manzinzwa moga kuti hapana vacancy. Mazvinzwira moga kuti hapana zve infighting. Vari kuzvitaura hameno kuti muri kuzviwana kupi,” she said the deafening cheers and chants of ‘’2023 ED Pfeee’’ from the over 6 000 delegates.

‘‘Vanhu vanoda kudivider vatungamiri batai miromo yenyu, musakanganise vatungamiri vari kuda kugadzirisa nyika … ishoko guru ratinofanira kuenda naro kumisha kuti zviya zvenhema, zvekunyepa kuti kune kurwisana kuriko, kunyepa,’’ Muchinguri said to thunderous applause.

There has been a sustained campaign in certain sections of the media alleging infighting in the presidium with some claiming Vice President Chiwenga’s absence at state functions when he was recuperating was ‘‘evidence’’ of alleged discord in the Presidium.

Woman Dumps Lover Over Too Much S*x

A man from Insuza area in Matabeleland North was dumped by his lover over his excessive sexual desire which saw him demanding sex everyday.
Mqabukho Sibanda (38) from Village 2A was deserted by his lover who sensationally accused him of wanting to kill her with too much sex.
The 36-year-old woman who also claimed experienced problems with her womb as a result of Sibanda’s frequent sex romps started locking herself in her bedroom each time Sibanda came to her place.
Sibanda who apparently can’t live without sex, forcibly gained access to his estranged lover’s “secured” bedroom through the window before he forced himself on her.
He did it for a number of days until she decided to seek refuge at the headman’s homestead for a month.
When she returned to her employer’s place where she was staying alone, Sibanda came and using the same modus operandi gained access into her bedroom to sexually abuse her.
Fed up with her ex-lover’s forced sex romps, the woman reported him to the police leading to his arrest.
For the offence Sibanda appeared in court charged with rape and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment of which three years were suspended
for five years on condition that he is not convicted of a similar offence within that period.
Sibanda who pleaded not guilty but was convicted and sentenced has since appealed against the sentence saying he was “unhappy” with the
conviction while adding that there were several factors that were overlooked during trial that could
have seen him being acquitted.
Meanwhile, the script of Sibanda’s excessive love for sex, which also led to him being a guest at Khami Prison for the next seven years read as
follows: Sometime in January 2016, the complainant secured employment as a caretaker at a homestead in Village 2A before Sibanda proposed love to her and
she agreed. It was proved that from February to early December that same year, the two would occasionally engage in unprotected sex.
It is reported that towards the end of December, Sibanda started demanding sex on a daily basis until
the victim complained that she was now experiencing problems with her womb. The complainant pleaded with Sibanda to give her rest but the latter would have none of it and told her off that she was his lover and should not deny him sex.
The seemingly fed up complainant then told the accused that she was now terminating the relationship as she could no longer endure the pain
of having sex everyday.
In a desperate bid to stop Sibanda from abusing her she started locking herself inside her bedroom each time the accused came to her workplace.
Sibanda would then force himself into the complainant’s bedroom through the window and would have sex with her without her consent.
It was further proved that sometime in September last year; the complainant went to the village head
Giye Ndlovu and told him about the abuse.
The village head then summoned the accused’s relatives so as to solve the issue but they refused to come to the meeting.B-Metro

I Will Retire When I Die: Mapfumo Declares

IN a tiny changing room at the back of the Large City Hall stage in Bulawayo, timeless Chimurenga music icon, Thomas Mapfumo, was a calm and collected fellow before stunning all and sundry with a non-
stop four-hour show last Saturday.
He was in a jovial mood as he was happy to be back in Bulawayo after nearly two decades.
Perhaps at the back of Mukanya’s head, he was nervous to be met by a paltry crowd as was the case at one of his last shows at the Large City Hall in 1999, but he covered that
with a wry smile.
In the packed changing room, Mukanya was surrounded by male members of his Blacks Unlimited group and the setting was like a
traditional idale/dare where male elders would converge to deliberate on serious issues. The three female singers had left the room to prepare to take to the stage.
The changing room was hot, stuffy and it was engulfed in a cloud of smoke that came from a “special cigarette” that was lodged nearly
at the tip between Mukanya’s index and middle finger of his left hand. Slumped on a chair wearing his trademark straw hat, his thumb, small and index fingers were holding
the rest of the bunch of his “special
cigarettes” in a small rectangular transparent plastic sealed bag.
The mood backstage in the dressing room was jovial and Mukanya was prepping his band, cracking one or two jokes and giving a word of advice here and there.Chronicle

Corruption Headache For ED

HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa, blew his gasket on Wednesday and put his ministers on notice, after he received damaging
reports that some of them were demanding bribes from investors to facilitate meetings with him and deputy president Constantino Chiwenga.
So rampant was the corruption by his lieutenants that Mnangagwa told stunned Zanu PF bigwigs during the party’s central committee meeting in
Harare that in one of the more egregious cases, a Cabinet minister had demanded a whopping R5
million bribe from a foreign investor to arrange a meeting with him.
An insider who spoke to the Daily News yesterday said Mnangagwa was “fed up” with claims of corruption involving senior government and Zanu PF officials — and was determined to “deal decisively” with all those caught on the wrong side of the law.
The allegations of sleaze involving bigwigs are not new. In 2012, ousted former president Robert Mugabe also told Zanu PF delegates at the
party’s conference in Gweru that two Cabinet ministers had demanded US$10 million from

No Bread During Festive Season As Broke Gvt Fails To Pay Major Wheat Supplier

HARARE – Zimbabwe’s major wheat supplier has threatened to cut supplies due to non-payment,
the Daily News can report.
The cash-strapped government is reportedly failing to pay Holbund Limited, one of the few remaining companies that is still supplying wheat to the landlocked nation.
In a letter seen by the Daily News,
representatives of Holbund Limited said although wheat supplies have already docked, they cannot
be transported to Zimbabwe because of non- payment.
To supply the 30 000 metric tonnes of wheat to the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ), Holbund requires an upfront payment of $12 million, an amount they say has not been complied with.
“We have not received any payment to date, hence if we don’t have any payment by close of business Tuesday, we apologise that we will not be able to reserve wheat and we will be forced to offload the quantity assigned to Zimbabwe in Mombasa port as we need time to make new
documents for Kenya, hence we have a cut-off time,” read part of the letter addressed to GMAZ chairperson Tafadzwa Musarara seen by the
Daily News.
Zimbabwe is expecting 30 000 metric tonnes of wheat. Holbund is the only supplier left which still
accepts to be paid well after loading the grain.
Sources said if the consignment which docked at Beira is not paid for, “the implication is that it takes 90 days to source and receive another
consignment.”
Musarara said: “We have talked to the RBZ governor …John Mangudya who has promised to pay and what we can say at the moment is that
everything is under control.”
National Bakers Association of Zimbabwe president Ngoni Mazango said bread supply cannot be guaranteed this Christmas as RBZ has not supplied bakers with foreign currency to pay off legacy debt from other suppliers of raw materials such as enzymes and glute.
“Bakers are not getting enough flour so I cannot guarantee that we will have enough bread for Christmas. We are not getting enough foreign
currency and the legacy debt has not yet been paid so the suppliers have also cut off supplies until it is paid, ” he said.
Zimbabwe consumes 1,8 million loaves of bread per day. The country needs 400 000 tonnes of wheat per year and is producing less than half of its annual requirement.Daily News

Mohadi Is Missing And Oppah Lies Claiming He Is On Assignment When The Truth Is He’s Unwell

There was drama yesterday when Emmerson Mnangagwa’a unwell 2nd deputy, Kembo Mohadi was found missing at the ZANU PF Conference and Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri claimed that he is away on assignment back in Harare.

Mnangagwa said Kembo Mohadi was unable to attend the 17th Zanu-PF Annual National People Conference as he is unwell.

Mohadi and his wife are absent from the conference that is underway at Umzingwane High School, Esigodini as Mohadi was being attended to in Harare.

The Chairperson for Zanu-PF Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri had announced that the VP was away on assignment but it was later clarified by Mnangagwa. He said the VP indicated that should he get better, he would attend the conference.

“Hatinavo pano. Hanzi na chairman pane kwavatumwa, ah bodo, vakati batikanei. Vanga vachiti kana vakazwa zvakanaka vanokwanisa kuzosvika. Variko kuHarare. (VP Mohadi is not here. The chairperson has said he is away on assignment but he said if he gets better, he will come to the conference. He is in Harare),” Mnangagwa said. Mohadi has been in and out of hospital following the bombing incident that occurred in June this year at White City Stadium in Bulawayo which saw him sustaining some injuries.

On the day, he survived the bombing, Mohadi was detained at Mater Dei Hospital in the city before being taken to South Africa for further management.- state media

Dead Body Found 8km Away From River Spot

The vehicle when it was recovered without the bodies
Undeterred Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education officials continued to search for their missing colleague whose vehicle was swept away in heavy rains on Monday and ended up finding the body yesterday after police had called off the search.

Their loss is our loss and their untimely death has robbed the education sector and the nation of dedicated cadres,” said Dr Zhou.- state media

I Have Other Kids, Police Officer Tells Magistrate

A police officer from Bulawayo was yesterday dragged to the maintenance court by his ex-girlfriend who said he has never contributed anything towards their child’s upkeep.

Ms Athel Mpofu was claiming $100 from Mr Raymond Madyara. She said her ex-boyfriend was not supporting their three month old baby.

“I’m claiming child upkeep because my ex-boyfriend here has never given any support what so ever towards this child. I’ve asked him numerous times to help me get a birth certificate for the child but he gives me excuses every time,” she said.

The magistrate Ms Ulukile Mlea asked Mr Madyara to respond to what his ex-girlfriend was saying and to also state how much he was offering for the child. He produced birth certificates for his other five children.

“Well I’m married and have five other children. I can’t offer much especially now because the baby is still young. I’m only a mere police officer who has a large family to take care of so I’m offering $50.

“As for the birth certificate issue l did not refuse to assist her but l told her that when l take an off day or if l’m free we can go and get the birth certificate,” said Mr Madyara.
Ms Mpofu seemed to be shocked when she heard that Mr Madyara had five other children and hers is the sixth one.

“Your worship, I was not aware that he has other children. This is news to me and he even produced the birth certificates to prove that indeed he has other children.
All the same I’m unemployed and I need him to support his baby, that’s all I’m asking for,” said Ms Mpofu.

The magistrate ordered Mr Madyara to pay $65 as maintenance with effect from the end of the month.“This money has to be deposited into Ms Mpofu’s account and order will remain in force until the child reaches 18 years,” said the magistrate.- statw media

Chiwenga Says Chamisa Spurned ED’s Hand

Constantino Chiwenga busy reading his speech at the ZANU PF conference

ZANU PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa’s deputy, Constantino Chiwenga has said ED reached out to the MDC Alliance after his July 30 election victory, a gesture the vanquished opposition party rejected as they chose to disrespect him, hence Zanu-PF would return the gesture.

In his Vote of Thanks after Mnangagwa’s address, Chiwenga slammed MDC-Alliance for allegedly disrespecting the country’s leadership.

Said Chiwenga: “Cde President, you personally stretched out your hand to the opposition after Zanu-PF’s July 30 landslide victory.

They have chosen to disrespect our leader who is the Head of State of our nation (Mnangagwa).”

“We have no reason to handle them with the respect they have voluntarily rejected,” Chiwenga said to an applause from delegates.

Last week, Minister Ziyambi attacked MDC MPs for seeking to raise questions with Government ministers yet they chose not to recognise Mnangagwa.

Ziyambi said ministers would only respond to questions from opposition parliamentarians once they recognise Mnangagwa as the winner of the July 30 Presidential elections.

Chiwenga said Zanu-pf stands by Mnangagwa to see him attain his Vision 2030 that seeks to ensure the country attains a middle income status in 12 years’ time.

Matemadanda Has Rushed To Scream About Presidential Age Limit, What About More Crucial Matters Like Disabilities And Equality?

RG Mabaudhi with Emmerson Mnangagwa
By R.G Mabaudhi | I would like to challenge War Vets in particular Cde Matemadanda to put their leverage, power and influence to good use.

The next election is years away and the Presidential age limit politics can be played even in 2020. There is a pressing issue of self representation for persons with disabilities and domestication of the UNCRPD. These are battles in which war vets can really be useful and influential and it benefits those comrades who were injured during the war.

I post this as an open challenge and I say to every War Vet fight for persons with disabilities, no one is fighting for them

WATCH: The Shock Moment Crowd Labelled Mnangagwa A Lonely Lion Roaming Alone In The Forest

“Blatant Vote Rigging Source Of Zim’s Woes”

The facilitation of dialogue by Kenyan Judge between ED and Chamisa dialogue can be likened to a hyena playing midwife to a goat writes Patrick Guramatunhu

He identifies Zimbabwe’s protracted political and economic crisis, exemplified by the 38 years and counting of blatant vote rigging by Zanu PF, as a sad development which was bound to attract attention.

He writes:

“Sadly, many of those now poking their large noses in the matter are about as useful as a hyena playing midwife to a goat!

“While President Emmerson Mnangagwa this week ruled out and a power-sharing arrangement with the MDC Alliance, saying Zanu-PF has won a two-thirds majority in the July general elections, it has emerged that dialogue is unfolding behind the scenes, facilitated by prominent for Kenyan chief justice Willy Mutunga,” reported Zimbabwe Independent.

Everyone with even a half functional brain has said the recent Zimbabwe elections were “biased, unfair and failed to meet acceptable international standards”. In layman’s language, the elections were blatantly rigged and Zanu PF does not have the people’s mandate to govern.

This is all too familiar ground for Zanu PF and the party has done what it has always done – ignore the criticism and stoically maintain its position that the elections were free, fair and credible and that it won with a landslide victory.

Presented with a fait accompli of a Zanu PF government, the Zimbabwe public have always accept the regime’s authority as a matter of fact and fate. The rest of the world has shown some resistance but sooner or latter they too bowed down to the reality of Zanu PF rule.

President Mnangagwa rigged the 30 July 2018 elections, has ignored all condemnation of the elections being flawed and illegal, and has seized all the lever of power and government. All except the economy which was decidedly in bad shape before he took over from Mugabe but he had hoped to fix but failed and now is getting worse by the day.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state there is absolutely no chance of the Zimbabwe economy recovering. None! The economy is in such a mess the situation is morally, politically and socially unsustainable. It is either Mnangagwa steps down to allow the nation to finally resolve this pariah state curse and then finally focus on rebuilding the economy.

Or Mnangagwa can hang on to power whilst the country continue its economic nose dive which is bound to lead to social unrest as the limit of people’s patience and fear of the regime’s thugs is finally reached and breached. The accumulated anger in the nation, after 38 years of brutal repression and abuse, is so great that once breached it will unleash a tsunami wave that no one will be able to contain.

Mnangagwa and his cronies will be held to account for all the death and destruction that violent revolution will bring since they are the one refusing peaceful change.

What Zimbabwe needs right now is for Mnangagwa et al to accept they are illegitimate and step down. The last thing the country needs is these idiots telling these Zanu PF thugs can still hang on to power if they allowed Chamisa and a few MDC Alliance a few seats on the gravy train.

Zanu PF is illegitimate because it rigged the recent elections. Bringing in Chamisa and a few others into the illegitimate regime will not change anything; Zimbabwe will still be a pariah state with or without Chamisa in government.

Chief justice Willy Mutunga, we do not need a Mnangagwa and Chamisa dialogue because all the two would talk about is how to extend their rule.

Zimbabwe has no legitimate government because the recent elections were flawed and illegal. We need Zanu PF to step down and you are wasted our time with your foolish suggestion. Please go back to Kenya, we do not want you here!

My fear is as Zimbabwe sinks deeper and deeper into the abyss we will have more and more people like Chief Justice Mutunga from Kenya and our own local ones like Pastor Munyeza and Chamisa and his MDC Alliance all offering all manner of solution with one common theme – to appease Zanu PF thugs by keeping them in power at all costs.

Get one hyena or vulture homing-in on a potential meal and all the hyenas and vultures from far and wide will all be gravitate to the same spot. The danger is the voices of reason are being drowned out by all the yapping and gawking from the hyenas and vultures.

The hyenas are all ignoring the fact that Zanu PF rigged the elections because keeping the illegitimate regime in power serves their selfish interests; as long as the Zimbabwe crisis remains they are guaranteed a job – mediating in the crisis, of course! They are determined to sell us the idea that Zimbabwe can still be a prosperous nation and keep the corrupt and vote rigging dictatorship.

The yapping and gawking is now fever pitch high, one cannot hear oneself think! After 38 years of this charade and with the nation’s future hanging precariously on the edge of the precipice we cannot afford to waste time arguing endlessly with these selfish scavengers. We need a shoot to kill all the marauding scavengers policy!”

WATCH: 4 Days Left, Will Mnangagwa Release Motlanthe Report Which Narrates That Chamisa Is The Real President Of Zimbabwe Or He’s Cooking Another One?

Nation Likely To Spend Festive Season Without Bread

Zimbabwe’s wheat supply is expected to be negatively affected by local companies’ failure to pay for imports.

Reports indicate that wheat
bound for Zimbabwe has been docked at Beira port in Mozambique for some time now and will not be released until cash has been paid up-front.
A Daily News report claims that the major wheat supplier to Zimbabwe, Holbund Limited, has written a letter to the Grain Millers Association of
Zimbabwe (GMAZ) threatening to sell the docked wheat to other regional consumers. Part of the
letter written by Holbund Limited to GMAZ reads as follows:
We have not received any payment to
date, hence if we don’t have any
payment by close of business
Tuesday, we apologise that we will not be able to reserve wheat and we will be forced to offload the quantity assigned to Zimbabwe in Mombasa port as we need time to make new documents for Kenya, hence we have a cut-off time.
National Bakers Association of Zimbabwe president Ngoni Mazango had this to say Bakers are not getting enough flour so I cannot guarantee that we will have enough bread for Christmas. We are not getting enough foreign currency and the legacy debt has not yet been paid, therefore, the suppliers have also
cut off supplies until it is paid.

Dynamos Could Be Relegated If They Fail To Handle Epoupa Issue

Terrence Mawawa| Harare Giants Dynamos are facing FIFA sanctions amid revelations that the former champions are yet to pay Cameronian forward Christian Joel Epoupa Ntouba US$16 755.

The world football body ordered the Harare Giants to pay Epoupa the money within 30 days for alleged breach of contract, but no action has been taken with less than two weeks to the deadline.

According to the Herald, Dembare are considering engaging ZIFA to assist them to secure more time to clear the debt as they are currently facing financial challenges.

Dynamos are understood to owe several creditors a lot of money while several players are reportedly on their way out after the Harare giants failed to honour their financial obligations.

Should they fail to deal with the Epoupa matter, Dembare risk being summoned to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee with dire consequences such as the possibility of having points docked which could leave them relegated from the Premier Soccer League.

Bekithemba Ndlovu Happy Despite Young Warriors Loss

Quiet before the storm, the Young Warriors line up before a match.

Terrence Mawawa| Zimbabwe U20 team head coach Bekithemba Ndlovu believes his charges put a good effort despite losing to South Africa in the final of the COSAFA Tournament in Kitwe, Zambia.

The Young Warriors lost 4-3 on penalties after the game had ended 1-1 at full-time. Delic Murimba opened the scoring in the 65th minute, but the advantage was cancelled out by Lyle Foster five minutes before the final whistle to force the game into penalties.

“I can say well done to my boys for reaching the final and being beaten by South Africa, the champions last year, the champions again this year on penalties. I think it was a pretty good effort from my boys,” Ndlovu said in a post-match interview.

“I think we achieved more because what we wanted was to do better than last time. We went out in the group stages (in the previous edition), now we have been beaten by South Africa in the finals, I think it’s a big achievement from my boys.”

South Africa had not conceded any goal at the tournament ahead of the match.

Meanwhile, Tinotenda Ali won the Golden Glove award while Murimba was the joint winner of the Golden Boot award together with Foster, both on five goals.

Promise Mkhuma (S.A) was named Player of the tournament.

Dr Daniel Shumba Blasts ED Apologist For Attempting To Hoodwink International Community

Daniel Shumba

Terrence Mawawa|Dr Daniel Shumba, President of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), has reacted angrily to Mr. Frank Buyanga’s letter to the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr Antonio Guterres, asking him to consider Zimbabwe for a seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a non-permanent member, saying the peace and stability the country has enjoyed over the years deserves such recognition.

“I am perturbed by Mr. Buyanga’s ambitious letter not least because he seems to be oblivious to the reality of life in Zimbabwe but also he is under the mistaken impression that the transfer of power was based on consent and transparency.

Zimbabweans need the rule of law and constitutionalism before we can even think of flying our flags high to the world when at home were are concerned daily about the safety of my cash.

Mr. Buyanga wrote as follows: “Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, Africans need your support on many issues, including being able to voice their views on matters of security, those deliberated by the Security Council,” as if he has the competency and capacity on behalf of Africans.

Who gave Mr. Buyanga the right to think and express an opinion on behalf of the entire continent?

He then stated as follows: “The African Union is leaving the selection of who will represent Africa on the UN Security Council to be determined by foreigners. This, Mr Guterres, opens a gap for manipulation and only the ‘big’ countries will forever be selected to sit on this powerful council.”

The African Union is a community of member states, a point that Mr. Buyanga seems to ignore. He fails to explain in what capacity he finds it fit to poke his nose in the matter which the African Union Commission should be seized with.

Mr Buyanga opportunistically states as follows: “There is no threat to peace and security in Zimbabwe. Secretary-General, with your help and guidance we hope and trust that Zimbabwe will get the recognition it deserves,” when it is generally accepted that there can never be peace and security where there is no justice and the rule of law.

I have not heard Mr. Buyanga being vocal on matters that I think are germane in lifting Zimbabwe from its current economic mess.
We have left the future of our country to opportunistic, delusional and small-minded people like this Buyanga,”

Clergyman Urges Mnangagwa To Raise Presidential Age Limit To 55

Terrence Mawawa| A Zimbabwean pastor has urged Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa to consider raising the Presidential age limit to 55.

The clergyman accused MDC A leader Nelson Chamisa of using retrogressive political tactics in a desperate bid to remain relevant. The pastor made the remarks at the Zanu PF Conference in Esigodini today.
Hs also described Chamisa as a childish leader.

“My plea to you Your Excellency is that please let the Presidential age limit be raised to 55, that is how we can silence the barking and whimpering politicians.

We are fully behind you and we firmly believe that you still have a lot of work to do for the entire nation,” he said.

Obert Gutu Praises ED For Rejecting GNU Deal With Chamisa

Terrence Mawawa|Controversial MDC deputy president Obert Gutu has hailed Emmerson Mnangagwa for rejecting a proposed Government of National Unity(GNU) deal with MDC A leader Nelson Chamisa.

“The next harmonised elections in Zimbabwe will be held in 2023. Those who were dreaming and/or fantasizing about a GNU or a creature called a ‘Transitional Authority’ should now wake up from their nightmare! It was just a horrible !” Gutu tweeted.

” I’m pleased to note that HE President Emmerson Mnangagwa @edmnangagwa clarified and confirmed that there will be NO
GNU in Zimbabwe because Zanu PF won the electoral mandate to govern the country. As I stated in my tweet a few days ago, that’s the very essence of democracy.”

Mnangagwa Basks In The Glory Of “Destroying Opponents”

By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has thanked party members for defeating opponents in the just ended harmonised polls.

Mnangagwa said while one of his presidential rivals took him to court, his party had been afforded a fresh mandate to govern.

Said the Zanu Pf leader at the party’s 17th National People’s Conference:

“….After the voting and process of announcing elections we experienced violence in Harare we condemn that violence and would then appointed a commission of inquiry.

I have since received the report of the commission of enquiry in the post-election violence of August 2018 and I will be making it public next week…

I thank you all we destroyed those who were competing against us. We destroyed those who were competing against us. We should be extremely proud of ourselves…

We were given a fresh mandate to govern Zimbabwe… full stop!

No GNU.

The votes came from all four corners of the country and it was a resounding victory… I say to you all thank you all, siyabonga, ndinokutendai…

In spite of our convincing win, one of the 22 presidential contestants took me to court…

Do not be troubled or lose sleep as you hear noises going up and down. I urge members of the party, do not be perturbed by those who continue to make noises: as ZANU PF, we have no agenda for a GNU… let us continue working towards the betterment of our econony… for our country.”

Arrogance Will Not Resolve Economic Crisis, Chamisa Tells ED

Terrence Mawawa|MDC A leader Nelson Chamisa has lampooned Emmerson Mnangagwa’s empty bravado adding arrogance will not resolve the country’s economic woes.

Yesterday Mnangagwa dismissed the possibility of a Government National Unity boasting of his party’s victory in the July 30 polls.

Chamisa denies he is desperate to enter into a GNU agreement with Mnangagwa.

“The SECRET to a GREAT NATION is VISION, LOVE and HUMILITY by its
leadership.Arrogance is always ignorance disguised as invincibility.

Weak leaders boast and divide.Strong leaders reach out to
unify.Zimbabwe needs dialogue on
reforms, economy, legitimacy and nation building not GNU,” tweeted Chamisa.

Mnangagwa Fears Dialogue Will Expose His Wickedness- Jonathan Moyo

Terrence Mawawa|Professor Jonathan Moyo has said Emmerson Mnangagwa is wary of resorting to dialogue with the opposition because his malice will be exposed.

“Dialogue is the only alternative to
war known to human beings. Mnangagwa is an illegitimate coup-president who used the Army to steal the July election in broad daylight; after which the same Army was used to massacre civilians on 1 Aug 2918. Dialogue will expose this!”

“He needs to talk to the real winner of the 30 July presidential election, @nelsonchamisa . It is that simple. Otherwise the whole thing will
be full of jecha all the way!” Moyo tweeted.

ZANU PF Crowd Sings Loudly: “ED Is A Lonely Lion Living In The Bush” | ED NDI-MAMBO SHUMBA INOGARA YEGA MUSANGO!

By Farai D Hove| There was drama today when ZANU PF delegates at the party’s conference in Esigodini broke into song declaring that their leader Emmerson Mnangagwa is a lonely lion in the bush.

The song was belted as follows (video) word for word: ” ED ndi-mambo, heee haa heyaa. Shumba inogara yega musango!” [ENGLISH – “ED is a King, a lion that lives alone in the bush.”]

The delegates proclaimed Mnangagwa a King, while the ma himself would in writing curiously declare a claim that he is a servant who listens to the priorities and dreams of all Zimbabweans.

VIDEO:

Said Mnangagawa after the function: “Today I addressed the 2018 ZANU-PF National People’s Conference, which is running under the theme, “Zimbabwe is Open for Business: Peace, Unity towards an Upper Middle Income Economy by 2030.”

“As the governing party, we must always strive to understand and listen to the needs, priorities and dreams of all Zimbabweans, so we can build the Zimbabwe that we all want. We must remember at all times that those who elect are masters, and those who are elected are their servants.”

Mnangagwa To Release Motlanthe Report Next Week

By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that he will release findings of the Motlanthe Commission Report next week.

He said this while addressing delegates at the ongoing Zanu Pf’s Annual  People’s Conference in Esigodini.

He said the report will be made public next week.

LIVE: Mnangagwa vs Chamisa In Esigodini | WHOSE VOICE ARE PEOPLE LISTENING TO?

The blood of 1 August victims is crying out loud.

VIDEO LOADING BELOW

By Mudhara WekwaBee| Whenever Nelson Chamisa opens his mouth one can hear that his voice is not his own. Compared to Emmerson Mnangagwa’s voice, Chamisa’s is too heavy. While his voice commands respect, Mnangagwa’s voice is empty. Why is this drama happening before our eyes now?

Chamisa’s voice is the voice of millions of people – those who were tortured and lost their lives, and those alive who spend each day while they agonize. An ancient script says: “Cain where is your brother, Cain where is your brother, Abel? Your brother’s blood cries loud before me,” referring to the man’s brother who he tortured to death. Zimbabwe has so many Abels, too many of them, and this is perhaps the reason why ZANU PF has chosen to hold its conference at Esigodini, to appease the blood of the many who were slain exactly around this time in 1982- 84.

It is evident this years’ conference is none but a ritual, because the sound of the blood of the innocent has gotten louder, drowning the ears of the torturers.

Is the Esigodini Conference an attempt to do a spiritual botox on Mnangagwa soul?

“What do you think will happen this weekend at Esigodini?

Mohadi In Another Health Scare

Vice President Kembo Mohadi was curiously absent when President Emmerson Mnangagwa landed in Bulawayo on Thursday – triggering fresh speculation about his health.

Mohadi’s Matabeleland South Province is hosting the annual Zanu PF conference in Esigodini, and as the most senior official in the province, the former Beitbridge East MP was expected to receive Mnangagwa at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport.

Instead, it was Vice President Constantino Chiwenga who welcomed Mnangagwa to Bulawayo when he landed some 20 minutes ahead of his appointed time of landing.

The ailing Mohadi, 69, spent over a month in South Africa after suffering leg injuries when a bomb exploded during a Zanu PF rally at White City Stadium in Bulawayo on June 23 this year.

Nick Mangwana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, said he had no information on Mohadi’s whereabouts but promised to check with his office. He had not responded to our enquiry by the time of publication.

The annual Zanu PF conference is taking place at Mzingwane High School in Esigodini.

Mohadi, as the most senior Zanu PF leader in the host province, is expected to take centre stage.

“It’s his moment in the sun, which makes it highly unusual that he would fail to welcome Mnangagwa at the airport,” a senior Zanu PF official told ZimLive.

The Zanu PF conference began with a Zanu PF politburo meeting in Harare on December 11, which Mohadi attended, followed by a central committee meeting on December 12 at the party’s headquarters.

Mnangagwa will make his first appearance in Esigodini on Friday, with the party’s 3,000 delegates set to deliberate into Saturday afternoon.

0PROMINENT rights activist Jestina Mukoko finally received her $150 000 compensation she was awarded October this year by the High Court following her successful litigation over her 2008 abduction and torture by the state.

The Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP) director was awarded $100 000 for damages suffered and a further $50 000 in legal costs with government ordered to meet the obligation on or before October 31 this year.

“We reached a settlement in October and they were supposed to have paid up by the 31st October which did not happen,” Mukoko told NewZimbabwe.com Thursday.

“I was actually thinking that the years were going to build up again, but beginning of December a few days ago, they did credit my account.”

The former ZBC news anchor turned-human rights defender was December 2008 seized from her Norton home in the early hours of the fateful day and driven to an unknown place while blindfolded.

For three weeks, her whereabouts were unknown, triggering global demands for her release.

She resurfaced together with dozens of other abducted pro-democracy activists and opposition supporters who were jointly accused of plotting to topple then President Robert Mugabe’s administration through recruiting people to undergo military training in neighbouring Botswana.

Mukoko was released from remand prison after a torturous three month incarceration and was in 2009 granted permanent stay of prosecution by the Supreme Court after she got legal assistance from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

Said the ZPP boss, “Obviously, we cannot say that justice has been realised because I am aware that I was not the only one who was abducted at the time that I was abducted.

“And there are people who were also abducted before me and people who were abducted after me. So, I think the State has just taken the first step and I think if we are going to say justice has been delivered, they need to be able to take into account all the other instances of enforced disappearances and, in particular, pay attention to those who have never been found after they disappeared.”

Mukoko also said the financial settlement, although welcome, could never atone for the trauma and suffering she went through at the hands of state security agents she said were “ruthless, merciless and very evil”.

“It will not make for the lost time as my liberty and allother human rights accorded to me by virtue of my being human were unjustifiably curtailed, nor will it provide solace for my traumatised family, my mother, my son brother and extended family, friends and other peace loving citizens,” she said.

Is Mudzuri A Dead Man Walking?

MDC-Alliance faces a potential split, with party leader Mr Nelson Chamisa set to preside over two high-level meetings today in a drive to have his deputy, Mr Elias Mudzuri, expelled. At least 220 party districts are said to have resolved to have Mr Mudzuri fired ahead of next year’s party congress for harbouring presidential ambitions.

This comes in the wake of reports that MDC-Alliance’s deputy treasurer and Kuwadzana East Member of Parliament Mr Chalton Hwende had allegedly threatened to shoot party secretary-general Mr Douglas Mwonzora.

Mr Hwende, a Chamisa ally, was reportedly miffed by Mr Mwonzora’s declaration that Mr Chamisa could be challenged at the party’s congress next year. Mr Hwende could not be reached on his mobile phone for comment last night.

Mr Mwonzora said he could not recall such an incident.

Party sources said Mr Hwende openly threatened to shoot Mr Mwonzora for “derailing” Mr Chamisa. Mr Chamisa has been accused in the past of using the notorious militia, the Vanguard, to silence his opponents.

Another allegation against Mr Mudzuri is that he attended a function at State House without Mr Chamisa’s “consent”. He survived expulsion last week after he failed to attend a standing committee meeting for unexplained reasons.

‘‘It is end of the road for (Mr) Mudzuri,’’ a source said. ‘‘The president (Mr Chamisa) is going for broke and the process of eliminating his rivals has begun in earnest. (Mr) Mudzuri is the first target and (Mr) Mwonzora is likely to follow. Remember (Mr) Hwende threatened to kill (Mr) Mwonzora and it is becoming clear that the Chamisa camp is worried about the inroads that (Mr) Mwonzora has been making in the race for the party’s top job.’’

Another source said Mr Mudzuri was being used as a warning to Mr Chamisa’s potential rivals.

‘‘This is not so much about (Mr) Mudzuri but (Mr) Mwonzora and those who are secretly canvassing for support at next year’s congress,” said the source. ‘‘You should know that (Mr) Chamisa has never really considered (Mr) Mudzuri as a threat but (Mr) Mwonzora. So what we are seeing is (Mr) Chamisa firing warning shots at the likes of (Mr) Mwonzora.’

Today’s meetings, one for the national executive and the other for the national council, will be held at the party’s Harvest House headquarters.

The fissures in the opposition are in sharp contrast to the ruling Zanu-PF which is holding its 17th Annual People’s Conference at Mzingwane High School in Esigodini, Matabeleland South, with a heightened unity of purpose.

President Mnangagwa has said the ruling party’s conference will focus on the country’s new investment trajectory towards attainment of his vision to turn Zimbabwe into an upper middle income economy by 2030.

Party organs have already endorsed President Mnangagwa as the party’s candidate for the 2023 polls to ensure leadership stability and policy consistency.

In the opposition camp, Mr Mwonzora and allies have indicated they want congress held in February next year but Mr Chamisa and his camp insist that it should take place later in October.

Sources in the opposition said Mr Mudzuri’s fate in the party was sealed when he recently accompanied Parliament’s presiding officers to State House where they met President Mnangagwa. This was against a standing party directive not to recognise the Head of State and Government.

Mr Mudzuri, as leader of opposition party in the Senate, accompanied Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda and Senate President Mabel Chinomona when they went to formally introduce themselves soon after their election.

“The issue of (Mr) Mudzuri is definitely coming up for discussion in our meeting tomorrow (today). We have a national executive and a national council meeting. Decisive action has to be taken. At least 220 districts have resolved that he be fired. They expressed a vote of no confidence in him. What is likely going to happen is that he will either be fired on the basis of a no confidence vote or we will constitute a disciplinary tribunal,” said the source.

“Either way you look at it, (Mr) Mudzuri is gone. In fact, he expelled himself by defying the party directive.”

Another source said Mr Mudzuri could be stripped of the vice-presidency.

“We are exploring various options. One is to expel him. Another one would be to weaken him by demoting him to an ordinary card-carrying member,” said the source.

Govt Says It Met Striking Doctors, Grievances Partially Addressed

Government met striking doctors yesterday and urged them to resume work as some of their grievances had been addressed. Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo met the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association, the Health Service Board (HSB), the Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZIMA) and the Apex Council.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting in Harare, Dr Moyo said grievances that had been addressed by Government included the issue of car loans and availability of medicines.

“Medicines have been received and they are at NatPharm ready for distribution to all health centres around the country. We have given an instruction that NatPharm should distribute medicines to all health institutions,” Dr Moyo said.

“Transportation of our workers has been looked into, starting with fuel. We have put fuel arrangements in place at all health institutions that have fuel tanks, for example at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Harare Central Hospital and Mpilo Central Hospital,” he said.

“We even went to the extent of asking for our doctors and critical healthcare workers to be exempted from queues so that they can go and provide essential services and look after the patients. Car loans have also been looked into. Out of $10 million, we received $4 million and we are looking at the balance. Cars will be given to our health workers soon,” he said.

Dr Moyo said some issues were impossible to finalise at ministry level, like cost of living adjustments. These would be handled at a meeting covering all civil servants. Dr Moyo said ZIMA had also urged junior doctors to go back to work.

“We are one team being led by the Minister of Health, who is myself. We all have to push for the same agenda. We all have to make sure that whatever we do, we are a team. We are all fighting so that the department gets everything that is relevant. We all want to make sure that our healthcare workers benefit. We all want the patients to be looked after. The most important thing is that we must not lose any more lives,” he said.

ZIMA secretary-general Dr Sacrifice Chirisa said the demand for payment in American dollars by the doctors had been scrapped off after they considered the economic situation in the country.

“We have negotiated starting with the US dollars request and those have been removed. We are happy with the negotiations that have taken place so far. I think we are in a positive direction and we are expecting a positive response from our counterparts. Negotiations have been fruitful and tough and we are making sure that by Christmas we would have full services without any disturbances. Some of the issues will be discussed in due course,” he said.

The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association promised to make a statement today.

Oppah Admits To Divisions in The Ruling Zanu PF

Jane Mlambo| Zanu PF National Chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri has admitted that the party primary elections exposed sharp divisions in the ruling party.

Addressing the Zanu PF Annual Conference in Esigodini yesterday, Muchinguri said the party was shaken during primary elections. This is amid suspicions that a residue of the G40 faction is still haunting the ruling party to this day.

“We had our primary elections where people were shaken a bit and this is the time to forget the past and strengthen the party as well as celebrate our victory in the harmonised elections,” said Muchinguri.

ED Worried About Corrupt Aides, WHY NOT NAME AND SHAME?

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed that one of his top aides demanded R5 million from a prospective South African investor, reflecting the challenge he faces to rid his administration of graft that had become endemic under his predecessor, Robert Mugabe.

Mnangagwa made the stunning disclosure while addressing central committee members on Wednesday.

He said his “Zimbabwe is open for business” mantra has been appealing to foreign investors because it sends a message that things have changed, but corrupt activities have spiked, with some party and government officials charging investors money to facilitate meetings with him and government ministers.

“I have introduced the ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ policy and it has been attractive, informing investors that we have opened up the country for business and changed on the way we were doing our things,” Mnangagwa said.

“This has generated interest among investors. They have been coming, wanting to do business in the country, but other people are now asking huge amounts of money from them to facilitate meetings with the President and ministers.”

He added: “Some people say to the investors, ‘before I take you to the President or minister, pay me some money’. I have been told that one investor was charged R5 million to come see me.”

“The investor was told that three quarters of the money would go to the President and the (fourth) quarter will be given to the person who will fix the meeting. When I eventually met the investor in South Africa, he told me that he had been asked to pay R5 million to meet me. Corruption, corruption, corruption, down with corruption!” Mnangagwa barked.

The southern African country is rated as one of the most corrupt on the planet, occupying 157th out of 180 countries in the 2017 ranking by watchdog Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index.

Mnangagwa told ruling party officials that corruption was ravaging government and immediate action was needed to clean up the country’s investment climate.

“If you shun corruption, you will stay and stay with us in the party, but if you are corrupt, you will be fired,” he warned.

Mnangagwa took over power in a coup in November 2017 before winning the disputed July 30 election against opposition MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa who says the vote was stolen.

He set up an anti-corruption unit based in his office, but its credibility has been tainted by allegations that it targets Mnangagwa’s political foes, mostly members of the G40 faction aligned to Mugabe’s wife, Grace.

Mnangagwa has pledged to fight corruption in his “second republic”, and several former ministers who served under Mugabe have been charged with corruption.

Former Energy minister Samuel Undenge has been convicted of issuing a $12 650 contract without due tender to a company that did no work, and was sentenced to four years in prison. He has appealed both the conviction and the sentence.

Former ministers Walter Mzembi, Ignatius Chombo, David Parirenyatwa and Saviour Kasukuwere all have pending cases before the courts, in what analysts view as a crackdown on officials loyal to Mugabe.

Govt Takes Advantage Of Fuel Situation To Clampdown On Unlicensed Vehicles

GOVERNMENT is taking advantage of fuel queues to pounce on vehicle owners who have failed to regularise their licenses, Transport minister Joel Biggie Matiza has said.

Matiza told NewsDay yesterday that government would be deploying officers from the Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) to flush out unregistered vehicles.

“People were given a deadline and those that complied have no reason to be scared. We are after those that have failed to regularise their licenses as required by the law. Beginning today (yesterday), we will have officers inspecting all fuel queues to check vehicle registration and related issues,” he said.

Government, according to officials, is already in the process of deregistering over 130 000 vehicles whose owners have defaulted in paying licence fees over the last two years to July this year.

Fuel shortages have triggered snaking queues across the country as motorists spend hours on end waiting for deliveries of the precious liquid. Government has, however, blamed hoarding for the shortages.

Matiza said some of the cars targeted for deregistration were being used for hoarding fuel.

“The latest move will also help us deal with those using unregistered vehicles as conduits to hoard fuel for resale on the black market,” he said.

Matiza said his ministry was working on robust implementation of the Zimbabwe Integrated Transport Management System (Zimtis).

“Technology is the way to go, and for us, it’s work in progress. The idea of having to trail every car, which at times results in anarchy, will end soon. We are working on Zimtis, and all our key departments, including from sister ministries, are working on this. Zimtis brings together key departments like the Zimbabwe National Road Administration, Road Motor Transport, the police, VID and others in an integrated system that will help us deal with all this chaos,” Matiza said.

The chaos on the country’s roads has been blamed for many fatalities caused by vehicles that are not roadworth as well as by unregistered cars and unlicensed drivers. There has also been a marked increase in the chaos following the withdrawal of traffic police in the wake of Operation Restore Legacy in November last year.

Police Officers Steal Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Food Hampers, Throw Them Into Zambezi River

Correspondent|disgruntled Kanyemba police officers were taken to Guruve Magistrates’ Courts yesterday for allegedly stealing a colleague’s food hamper, donated by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa before throwing it into the Zambezi River.

Constables Messias Thomas (31) and Noren Chikuku (27), appeared before Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro.

They complained against over-detention in police cells and were released immediately.

The case will proceed by way of summons.

It is the State’s case that the two allegedly broke into Sergeant Golden Gwini’s bedroom through the window and stole a food hamper, blanket and passport valued at $367 last Friday.

The officers, said to have been on guard duties during Mnangagwa’s visit to Mbire, failed to get hampers donated by the First Lady.

Gwini received his hamper and kept it in his bedroom at the police camp while the duo watched.

The two allegedly stormed his bedroom and stole the hamper.

The pair was seen by two soldiers who were in the camp, but threatened them with death if they ever revealed the alleged theft.

Gwini returned home and discovered that his belongings were missing and upon asking, he was informed by the soldiers that the accused persons had broken into his room.

In a bid to destroy evidence, the pair allegedly fled towards the Zambezi River where they dumped the stolen goods.

Gwini subsequently filed a police report, leading to the pair’s arrest. In their defence, the duo said they were assaulted by the investigating officer and the two soldiers before being over-detained.

Albert Mazhindu appeared for the State.

Heavy Anti-Riot Police Presence At ZANU PF Conference Amid Demo Threats

ZANU PF’S 17th national people’s conference kicks off today in Esigodini, Matabeleland South province, with the party seeking to deal with indiscipline and intolerance amid reports that a section of disgruntled officials could protest against certain individuals seen as economic saboteurs.

In an interview yesterday, party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said although law enforcement agents will be in attendance to deal with such issues, they expected delegates to observe discipline.

There are reports that some elements could register their frustrations over the deteriorating economic conditions through a demonstration at the conference.

“It’s the responsibility of the law enforcement agents to deal with such, but I have not heard about any planned demonstration,” Khaya Moyo said.

“We expect delegates to maintain discipline, and if there are people who might try to cause chaos, then the law enforcement agents should take care of that,” he said, adding that it is all systems go for the conference.

“We are set, today [yesterday] is travelling day, and we expect delegates to travel safely. Also, those in charge of their travelling must travel safely and avoid accidents. We expect that by evening [yesterday] all delegates will be here.”

The conference, which began with a politburo and central committee meetings in Harare, is expected to discuss the economy and other related issues.

“When we say Zimbabwe is one for business in peace and unity towards a middle income economy by 2030, obviously we will be concentrating on the economy, and the quicker it picks up, naturally we expect people’s lives to improve,” Khaya Moyo said.

Besides the economy, Khaya Moyo said they would talk about infrastructure development, food security and beneficiation of natural resources.

Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu said they expect delegates to be disciplined and avoid being caught up in alleged plots to demonstrate and cause public humiliation of certain top leaders.

Security remained on high alert, with soldiers and police making patrols kilometres away from the venue.

Villagers expressed mixed feelings about the conference, with others saying they were grateful to Zanu PF leadership for coming to their area because it had witnessed massive infrastructure transformation, while others said their livelihood, mainly gold panning, was being affected by the tight security.

“We are happy that the conference is happening in our area. We are vendors and we expect business to boom. We sell tomatoes and vegetables and people are buying in bulk. And because of that, we are generating profit,” Esnath Mpofu, a vendor at one of the growth points, said.

“We are also happy in that there is development in our area in the form of new roads, tarred roads and improved lighting, especially in Habane. The most important thing is that there is improved security and because of that, the crime rate has dropped and the illegal panners are being kept at bay.

“They usually cause a lot of problems, but they are being kept on check. We feel relieved about that, and we are living in peace.”

On the other hand, male villagers said almost 90% of the people in Esigodini area survive on gold mining activities, hence suspension of their work affects them in a negative way.

“Of course, we are happy that the President is coming to our area and he will see for himself the situation in our area. We need him to support our gold mining activities, but more importantly, and if we have the chance, we would want to share with him our problems.

“As they deliberate, we just don’t expect them to merry, but to come up with resolutions that take the country forward. We are really suffering, and this has forced many people into gold panning. However, that has been affected by the huge deployment of security forces who do not allow such things to take place,” another villager said.

Beatrice Mtetwa Fumes At Court’s Handling Of Biti’s Case

MDC Alliance deputy national chairperson Tendai Biti’s lead lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa was this week left fuming after being given the run-around by judicial officers over the referral of the former Finance minister’s case to the High Court.

Biti is on trial for allegedly prematurely announcing results of the July 30 elections. He is also said to have incited the post-election protests which resulted in the killing of six people in a military crackdown.

In a letter to the registrar of the High Court, a copy of which NewsDay has in its possession, Mtetwa accused the State of refusing to reveal the identity of the judge who is set to hear the case. Mtetwa also disclosed her anger at the “murky” nature of the referral that she said seems to have circumvented procedure.

“The writer attended at the criminal registry with a view to ascertaining whether the trial magistrate had already referred the record to the High Court and whether we can have a copy of the referral document as we remain unclear as to the legal basis of the referral.

“The registry staff went through its documents and advised that the record has not been recorded as received in the normal way that appeal reviews and other records are recorded,” Mtetwa said.

She, however, indicated that the registrar had confirmed receipt of the record despite all documentation showing no such referral had been made.

“As our client might want to be heard on whatever it is that has been referred to the High Court, we then requested that we be provided with a copy of the letter. After making a call, the registrar advised that the judge seized with the matter was most likely in court.

“As the matter is now urgent, if a judge is already seized with the matter, we requested that we be advised of the identity of the judge so that we could directly make our request through the judge’s clerk,” Mtetwa said in the letter.

However, the registrar refused to reveal the judge’s identity.

“The registrar advised that she was not at liberty to disclose the identity of the judge. The registrar, however, advised that the record had been referred for a review in terms of Section 26 of the High Court Act.

“How the record was not entered in the Criminal Registry as is the case with review records is, therefore, not clear,” the letter reveals. Mtetwa has since demanded a copy of the referral letter.

MRP Pickets At Choppies in Bulawayo

Mthwakazi Republic Party members, on the 12th of December, briefly picketed at a Choppies supermarket as a demonstration against the corruption and oppression of the Indians at Choppies Zimbabwe.

The demonstration forced the retail outlet along Jason Moyo to temporarily close shop. MRP is fighting against the corruption of the Indians who have admitted that their investment in Zimbabwe was anchored on a corrupt arrangement with political figures. The same Indians are now looking for the next politician who is in control of the leavers of power, as a result of the change of State administration.

The confession by Choppies CEO Ottapathu that they cheated the country’s investment systems through the influence of government officials exposes the rot of their modis oparandi.

We thank all those MRP leaders and members who participated in this important demonstration and invite all to join MRP in fighting this corrupt Indian cabal.

Mthwakazi shall not be a colony of Indians or of any nation. We will soon roll out a series of demonstrations and other activities against these Indians until they pack and or go to jail.

Thugs Raid Farm And Get Away With $25k

POLICE in Marondera have launched a manhunt for suspected armed robbers who besieged Thursfield Farm, Bromley, owned by Cocker Peter, and got away with $25 000 in cash on Wednesday.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident and urged people not to keep large amounts of money in their homes as it attracts robbers.

“I confirm a robbery case in Bromley in which a farmer lost cash amounting to US$25 000. The complainant had travelled to Mozambique, leaving his maids at the house, before thieves broke in using the backdoor, entered his bedroom and stole the cash. The matter is still under investigation, and we appeal to those with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police,” Mwanza said.

Meanwhile, police said they were concerned over the increase in car thefts and burglaries in Mashonaland East province over the past two months.

According to the police, between October and November, the province recorded five cases of car theft involving four Honda Fits and a lorry.

Four of the stolen vehicles were recovered.

“The suspects used the same modus operandi in stealing the vehicles. They would attack a house, steal valuables and demand car keys before using the vehicles to ferry the loot,” Mwanza said.

Police is urging the public to reinforce security on their premises as well as installing vehicle tracking systems.

“The motorists should also not leave their vehicles idling at gates or any other public places.

“We also urge members of the public to install surveillance cameras, erect security walls, put burglar bars and floodlights. During this festive season, we urge the public to employ these measures as robbers will be on the prowl,” he said.

Book on preservation of Ndebele art, architecture launched

THE United States Embassy through the State Department Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation programme has availed $42 000 to the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo for the publication of the book titled Preservation of Ndebele Art and Architecture at the Amagugu Heritage Centre in Matobo launched on Wednesday.

The book, written by John Knight, Cliford Zulu, Pathisa Nyathi and Andre van Rooyen and edited by Violette Ke-Tui and Pathisa Nyathi, documents the external and internal art, architecture, and decoration of Ndebele homes through schematic drawings and photographs.

The book also highlights the significance of culture, environment, and local Ndebele history.

Speaking at the launch, United States Ambassador Brian Nichols said the US embassy is leading efforts to preserve Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage and supports preservation of Zimbabwean art as part of expanded engagement between the two nations.

“The Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation was created to give the world the ability to preserve iconic features of culture that might otherwise be lost,” he said.

Nichols said the $42 000 for the production of the book is a significant amount of money, but the value that has been created is priceless.

“Many people have contributed in delivering this book and I want to stress that this is a resource for people around the world that now exists to share the culture of Ndebele people, Matopo region and far,” he said

He said the combination and creative use of colour and depth in the book was so impressive.

Meanwhile, Nyathi said the book goes beyond decoration and it seeks to interpret Afro-centric symbols.

The book saw participants from the National Arts Gallery, National University of Science and Technology, Amagugu International Heritage Centre and women from Matobo district joining hands for the project following a documentation exercise that began in 2016.

Striking Doctors Take To The Streets

MEMBERS of Mpilo Hospital Doctors’ Association yesterday staged a demonstration at the health institution complaining about poor infrastructure, shortage of drugs while at the same time demanding salaries in hard currency.

The disgruntled doctors stormed hospital premises carrying placards inscribed with their demands and vowed not to return to work until their grievances are addressed.

“They are forcing us to work under inhospitable conditions. What they pay us is little and the working conditions make it difficult to deliver. We don’t have adequate medicines and other medical materials,” Philip Dembura, Mpilo Hospital Doctors’ Association vice-president said.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors’ Association secretary-general Mthabisi Bhebhe said the striking doctors will not moved or threatened to go back to work till their issues are resolved.

“We shall not stop this struggle for a better living and better working conditions. Hospitals remain empty with acute shortage of drugs, medical and surgical sundries. Working conditions are deplorable and with obsolete hospital equipment. The welfare of service providers is forgotten and forsaken. The industrial action initially involved only central hospitals, but has grown to reach provincial and district hospitals,” he said.

Mpilo Hospital acting clinical director Xolani Ndlovu urged the striking doctors to be patient and revealed that only senior doctors were reporting for duty.

“Junior resident medical officers are the ones on strike and when the strike started we temporarily suspended all out-patient consultations. We are dealing with the emergency department. So far there is no sudden increase in the number of deaths. The conflict with the striking doctors is with their employer, the Health Services Board which is overseen by the Ministry of Health. I hope the issue will be solved amicably and see doctors returning to work, my concern is with the patients,” he said.

Bulawayo City Council Rules It Taboo To Display Female Undergarments In Public In The City

BULAWAYO councillors recently turned down an application by Musasa Project, a non-governmental organisation which provides support services to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism by displaying women’s undergarments on the streets.

The 16 Days of Activism is an international campaign against GBV that is commemorated annually from November 25 to December 10.

The Musasa Project in its application to the BCC said displaying ladies’ panties along Leopold Takawira Avenue, Herbert Chitepo Street and Lobengula Street was to demonstrate the magnitude of rape and GBV cases in the country.

“We are requesting to display women’s laundry by lining underwear up along tall buildings in the street mentioned above in solidarity with the survivors of rape and sexual violence under the national theme on “Sexual Harassment in the Work place”.

“Each underwear will be representing the girls and women survivors of rape,” reads the letter to the BCC dated November 1 and signed by Netty Musanhu, the Musasa Project executive director.

At least 22 women are raped daily in Zimbabwe, according to official data based on cases reported to the police.

Musanhu, in the application, said the displayed undergarments would have been accompanied by messages against rape, GBV and to “encourage survivors to break the silence and seek help”.

However, latest council minutes show that city fathers turned down the proposed display on grounds that it was “a taboo, violation of societal values and principles, and an invasion of cultural norms”.

“It was, therefore, resolved that the request by Musasa Project for space at the Lobengula Street Mall to have women’s laundry undergarments displayed as part of its commemorations of 16 days of activism against GBV from 20th November, 2018 to 10th December, 2018, be not acceded to as this was considered a taboo and would be against societal norms and principles in Bulawayo,” council minutes read.

To make gender-based violence more visible, Musasa Project, in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy, launched a campaign in Gweru, Masvingo, Harare, Bulawayo and Mutare to hang skirts on a laundry line in public.

Only Bulawayo refused permission for the display.

Govt To Fish Out Unlicensed Vehicle In Fuel Ques

There has also been a marked increase in the chaos following the withdrawal of traffic police in the wake of Operation Restore Legacy in November last yerar.

Mugabe’s Preferred Successor, Sekeramayi Given Two Months To Pay $11000 Outstanding Wages

FORMER Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi has been given until December 31 to pay over $110 000 in salary arrears to over 60 of his farm workers.

Sekeramayi, who became a career Cabinet minister under former president Robert Mugabe’s iron-fisted rule, was given an order in March to pay the money to his employees at Ulva Farm in Mashonaland East.

This was after the Progressive Agriculture and Allied Workers’ Union of Zimbabwe (Paawuz) — the union that represents farm workers — approached the Labour Court for redress.

However, the Zanu PF politburo member ignored the court order, prompting the employees through Paawuz’s lawyers to write him a final letter of demand on December 4 to compel him to pay.

“We refer to letters dated February 5, 2018 and the hearings of March 20, 2018 and December 4, 2018 conducted at our Marondera offices at which it was ruled that you settle the claim for under/non-payment of $112 800,” reads the letter of demand.

The employees expressed regret that since the court order to pay was given to Sekeramayi, the former minister has not bothered to act accordingly.

“This letter serves as our last reminder unless payment is made on or before December 31, this ruling will be referred to the Labour Court,” they vowed.

The minister risked being held in contempt of court.

Sekeramayi was not immediately available for comment as he was not picking calls. He also did not respond to messages sent to his mobile phone.

Several other Zanu PF politicians have been dragged to court by their employees over failure to pay wages at their farms.

Court documents show that some of the bigwigs include former Public Service minister Nicholas Goche; Bindura South Zanu PF MP Remigious Matangira; former first lady Grace Mugabe’s sister Rose Chidhakwa and former Mbare legislator Tendai Savanhu. They owe their employees tens of thousands of United States dollars in unpaid wages and allowances.

The development is the clearest indication that even the elite in Zanu PF are finally feeling the pinch of economic hardships being faced by the majority of their countrymen.

Goche, who has previously held the powerful State Security portfolio, was invited to attend court proceedings on July 19, over non-payment of workers at his Ceres Chizenga Farm in Shamva.

He had gone for 15 months without paying the aggrieved farm workers, according to the documents.

Prophet Set For Prison After Failing To Pay $12k Debt

VICTORY World International Ministries leader Paul Sanyangore, has been asked to prove he has means to pay before he is sent to civil prison for failing to pay $12 000 owed to Viewsat Limited.

The prophet has been issued with summons of civil imprisonment over the $12 733 after he refused or neglected to honour his obligations after a deadline upon which he was supposed to have cleared the arrears lapsed.

Sanyangore has been advised to approach the High Court with his financial position to assess whether he is able to settle the debt or not.

“You should bring with you the evidence of your financial position and it will be in your own interest to give the court evidence of your income from wages, salary or other earnings and other incomes you may receive from any other source.

“The court will conduct an inquiry into your financial position and depending on the circumstances, it may not commit you to prison but instead give you further time to pay the sum due or direct you to pay it in instalments over a specified period,” the notice said.

The court advised that if he cannot meet the requirements of the summons, he should be able to justify himself to void imprisonment.

“If you fail to pay the sum specified above, you must appear before the High Court at Harare to explain why you have not paid it and to show why an order for your imprisonment should not be made on account of failure to pay. You should bring with you evidence of failure to pay.

“Unless you pay the plaintiff the sum specified above, or unless the plaintiff accepts an offer of settlement which you have made to it, you must appear before the High Court.

“If you do not do so, a writ of personal attachment may be issued against you and you may be committed to prison.”
