About COVID-19 And Psychosocial Disability

SEE ME, HEAR ME, INCLUDE ME: THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON PERSONS WITH PSYCHOSOCIAL DISABILITY

Psychosocial Disability Awareness is commemorated each year in July. This year, the SA Federation for Mental Health (SAFMH) will be running the theme “See me, hear me, include me: The impact of COVID-19 on persons with psychosocial disability”, focusing on raising awareness about the ways in which the global pandemic is affecting persons with psychosocial disability (PD). The campaign seeks to bring to light the ongoing barriers to mental health services and ways in which support to persons with PD could be improved and made more accessible.

The campaign will also highlight how the pandemic has affected the mental health of all people, not just those with pre-existing mental health conditions.
According to the Mental Health Coordinating Council (2021), PD refers to a disability stemming from mental illness, a condition that is more difficult to see or understand.

While a diagnosis of mental illness and medical treatment is essential in addressing the illness, from a social model and human rights perspective it is the environmental barriers, lack of understanding, stigma, and discrimination that a person with a mental illness experiences that imposes the disabling impact and possible violation of rights.

Persons with PD are known to experience increasing difficulty in accessing and even maintaining employment, housing, education, and social relationships, all of which contribute to and perpetuate their disabilities. From this perspective, disability is not about a condition or impairment of the person but is rather due to societal, environmental, and institutional barriers that prevent the person from living a full and meaningful life.

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, mental health services in low and middle-income countries were insufficient, and access to services was negatively affected by factors such as poverty, poor infrastructure and service provision, and stigma (Hailemariam & Pathare, 2020).

In South Africa, our failing health and social systems were further exposed as the country struggled to address the demands of the pandemic. The South African Mental Health Policy Framework 2013-2020 has expired and requires urgent review. The World Health Assembly in May 2021 has for the first time included an indicator on the preparedness of states for providing mental health and psychosocial support during emergencies.

Cox et al (2020 ) explain that the pandemic, together with the declining economy, has adversely affected the mental health of many people and has further created new obstacles, especially for those who already had a mental illness. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused anxiety and fear, with prevention measures such as quarantining and isolation also leading to uncertainty, fear, and anxiety for persons with PD (Ayhan Balik & Sukut, 2021).

For too long, persons with PD have been confined to the shadows and hidden out of sight. SAFMH, together with community-based mental health organisations, is calling on persons with PD to share their voices and experiences during this pandemic. Now more than ever we need to hear, listen and include the voices of persons with PD as we call on duty bearers to ensure that persons with PD are guaranteed access to services and information during the pandemic. It is time for all South Africans to join hands in the fight not just against COVID-19, but also against the continued neglect of mental health, perpetuated by stigma, prejudice, and discrimination. We need to see a greater commitment, accountability, and resourcing from duty bearers to ensure that persons with PD and anyone else with a mental health condition, can receive the treatment and support that both local and international policies, legislation, and treaties entitle them to.
SAFMH always reminds people that nobody is immune to developing a mental health condition. And while there is absolutely no shame in admitting to having a mental illness and seeking treatment for it (in the same way one would for conditions such as, for example, hypertension or diabetes), it is important to remember that safeguarding mental health is essential, not just for persons with existing mental health conditions, but for EVERYONE. After all, there can be no health without mental health.

Accident Injured Doctor’s Car Looted

Injured doc

….

Bulawayo City FC doctor Mkhokheli Nyala survived death by a whisker on Saturday evening after his car rolled three times at the 408km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo road.
His car overturned after the left rear wheel came off. Nyala, who was driving from Ngezi, was still dazed yesterday when narrating his ordeal.

He said he was trapped inside the car for close to an hour until he was rescued by a colleague and Highlanders team doctor Shepherd Khumalo, who drove from Bulawayo.

“I still can’t comprehend what really happened to be honest. All I remember was the car swerving after my left rear wheel came off completely. The car rolled three or so times before landing on its roof,” said Nyala.

He said while trapped in the car, he tried contacting close relatives and friends. “I remained trapped for a very long time as I could not extricate myself. I feared that the car would catch fire. Those few moments were a life time for me,but the sad thing was that some motorists actually looted from my car while I was trapped,” Nyala said.

Bulawayo City FC officials expressed shock at Nyala’s unfortunate accident, with football legend and vice-chairman Zenzo Moyo wishing him a speedy recovery.

“We are happy for life but sad about the accident. What is important is that the doctor survived,” said Moyo. -Chronicle

Mugabe And Mandela Mocking Each Other In Heaven | WHO WINS? – CARICATURE…..

By Dorrothy Moyo | As the chaos and looting happens in South Africa, what do you think Nelson Mandela and Robert Mugabe are discussing between them in the yonder- world?

The two are founding Liberators of their nations. Since also, both are ex prisoners- Mugabe was incarcerated for 11years, while Mandela was jailed for 27, it is seen that they are in some sort of heaven somewhere, somehow.

Looking around the Almighty’s planet, we search for Bob and Madiba. It’s not easy because there are millions of people here . After some vigorous effort, there they are: Bob and Madiba.

Madiba is sat in a chair of his own, wearing the same classy yellow brown shirt, he must have carried it with him.

On the other side is the man from Zvimba, winking out at Mandela, and Bob is still as talkative as when he was 50.

The two are mocking each other, or better said, it’s Mugabe who is scoffing at Mandela saying, “your people are looting; they are choosing cakes over books. Hehehehe!”

Mandela doesn’t take it lightly, he draws his sword against Mugabe and pierces it through where it hurts:

“you gave them books and looted the diamonds, hmm USD15 Billion? ”

Zanu PF Bungling To Blame For Economic Crisis

Institutional incapacity of Zanupf not sanctions! “Illegal British sanctions mantra” demystified, Mdc Alliance Namibia discovers.

18 July 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia eulogises the Zanupf Deputy Minister for Sports, Mr Machakaire for demystifying his clueless party’s allegations that the economic decay emanated from the illegal sanctions imposed on the country by European Union and the United States of America. Zimbabweans have been interrogating Zanupf propaganda, wondering whether the economic meltdown in the motherland has been promoted by sanctions or senseless and barefaced looting of national resources in the government. What perturbes Mdc Alliance Namibia is that Machakaire was able to import an expensive luxurious car from the United Kingdom. The million dollar question from the unsuspecting masses is how did this government official manage to purchase from UK amidst the so-called sanctions imposed on the country.

Machakaire is an automatic hero to many Zimbabweans who have been fooled by the politically inept Zanupf regime that sanctions are responsible for the broken social and economic stability in the motherland. It became clear to millions that the Deputy Minister was able to sail through the car deal because he is not on the targeted sanctions or restrictive measures. This unravels that Zimbabwe is not on any sanctions but only targeted Zanupf morons who are responsible for high levels of human butchery, looting , state-sponsored violence, intimidation, rigging of elections, gross abuse of human rights and selective application of the law. Zanu PF should explain to the general populace what type of sanctions they have cried out for more than 20 years Zimbabwe is under?

Moreover, a variety of Zanupf leaders are able to buy expensive vehicles from UK, Germany ,United States of America and South Africa hustle free yet they speak of sanctions which is quite pathetic and disappointing. We are absolutely aware that those who are targeted by Zidera have created proxies and illicitly deal with people like the notorious Tagwirei Kuda, Wicknell Chivayo and Billy Rautenburg as well as numerous runners like Mhaka, Bako, Nare, Chimombe, Rushwaya, Passion Java and many other corrupt citizens who are employed as enablers of the reigning champions of corruption and looting in Southern Africa.

Furthermore, amidst sanctions Zimbabwe is leaking a total in excess of US$30 million through Beitbridge Border Post alone per month in the ugliest and detrimental gold, diamonds and platinum deals whose barons are Zanupf-fronted by Chimombe and army cartels. Despite their sanctions mantra, American and European companies still get tenders to construct roads and power station erections ahead of the indigenous owned companies. Moreso, at the heart of alleged sanctions, Australian companies benefit from mortgage oil fields for a pittance while allowing unfettered gas exploration to the same.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia wants to send a clear message to Mr Mnangagwa that the toiling and suffering of both Zimbabweans in the motherland and abroad is as a result of Zanupf’s gross misgovernance manifesting in their insatiable appetite for looting and unprecedented corruption. As a district, we would like to applaud Mr Machakaire, a Zanupf Minister for demystifying a long standing misleading sanctions mantra.

We are clear that the biggest sanctions imposed on the people of Zimbabwe is Zanupf party, its leader Mr Mnangagwa and his cronies who are eating on behalf of the hungry and poverty-stricken peasants and the working class. It is stomach politics not sanctions that has caused economic doldrums in the beloved motherland.

Dynamos Star Battles Stroke

EIGHT years ago, Tawanda Mparati, was at the top of his world – he had been named Soccer Star of the Year.

He had also led Dynamos to another league championship, their third in a row, as the Glamour Boys won four titles, on the bounce.

But, today, everything looks gloomy.

He is recovering from a stroke that has left him incapacitated.

The former Dynamos star suffered a cerebrovascular accident on April 19 and the stroke affected his left side and his ability to walk and hold things.

Now, he can walk slowly, with those movements restricted to his yard, at his Rugare home.

His left arm was also affected and is still powerless and cannot hold anything.

Luckily for him, the doctor said the stroke, which was triggered by hypertension, was mild.

The 37-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation at home and can now move, a little bit, around his yard.

However, he is not yet able to go out on his own.

His battle has been tough, due to the high medical costs involved, in rehabilitation.

He requires professional help, to assist in the recovery of function and mobility.

Yesterday, The Saturday Herald caught up with Mparati and, his wife Wendy, at their home, in Rugare.

The father of three stays with his wife, and three sons.

His boys attend to him, during the day, when his wife is at work.

The eldest, Tatenda, is 12.

During school days, he spends the day alone, with his wife saying she has to strike a balance, between taking care of her husband, and fending, for the family.

Mparati, with the aid of his wife, narrated his new life, in which he has been left grounded.

“I am now on hypertension medication, since I suffered the stroke,’’ he said. ‘’The doctor said my BP was very high, when I had the attack.

“When I suffered the stroke, I couldn’t walk, for close to a month but now, at least, I can walk around the house, on my own.

“I am feeling better, though, sometimes I experience pain on my left side, especially my hand.”

Mparati last played for a club, in the lower division, owned by sportscaster Barry Manandi. Manandi and his friend, Mike Madoda, now own Division One club, Golden Eagles. After that stint, he left for South Africa, before returning home.

He said Manandi has been playing a big part, in his recovery, and paid most of the hospital bills.

Officials from his former club, Dynamos, have not visited him since he suffered the stroke.

His former teammate, Patson Jaure, is among the few football people, who have cared to pay him a visit.

As you enter his house, the first thing you notice, in the lounge, is the 2013 Soccer Star of the Year Trophy, displayed next to the television big screen.

Several medals are hanged on the wall.

There are many of them, highlighting a successful career.

The prominent ones are the BancABC Super Cup medal, which he won with Lengthens, the Mbada Diamonds Cup, as well as the league title medals, with Dynamos, four of them. The Bob Super Cup runners-up medal, and a Chrome Paints Division One medal, he won with Douglas Warriors.

Mparati says he requires regular physiotherapy.

“My left hand only has finger movements but it cannot lift anything. I am now better, there is change and I am able to walk,’’ he said.

“But, I require regular physio, to fully recover, and regain my life back.

“At the moment, I am not affording the sessions, and have since stopped having them.

“I am now doing some exercises, on my own, holding a stress ball.”

He is hopeful, one day, he will regain his life again, and venture into coaching, where his passion lies.

Born on September 10 1983, in Kambuzuma, Mparati started playing football in Rugare.

He is the community’s posterboy and, asking for directions, to his house from the main road, brings many willing volunteers.

He first featured, mainly for Division Two sides, and then played for the defunct Douglas Warriors, helping them to get promotion into Division One.

He joined Lengthens in 2007 on a loan.

He briefly returned to Douglas Warriors before moving to Dynamos when gaffer, Lloyd Mutasa, was still in charge.

He became part of the team, which won four consecutive league titles.

That was the last time the Glamour Boys lifted the league trophy.

Mparati says winning the 2013 Soccer Star of the Year remains the highlight of his career.

“Sometimes, we would motivate each other, as players,’’ he said.

“During our time, everyone would put individual effort, and even plan gym sessions on our own, then we would go to play, and grind results.

“I urge current players to work hard and to be united. ‘’But, it is difficult, with Covid-19, and by the time football returns, the players will find it very hard.’’

He said he always admired the talents of Obadiah Tarumbwa and Clement Matawu.- The Herald

Egyptian Giants Al Ahly Thrash Kaizer Chiefs

Egypt’s Al Ahly beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 to win record tenth African crown.

Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring to help Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane win a third Champions League
Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring to help Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane win a third Champions League
Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 in Morocco on Saturday night to become the first side in history to be crowned African champions ten times.

In-form forward Mohamed Sherif scored one and made as Ahly, following a relatively even opening, took full advantage after Chiefs’ Happy Mashiane was dismissed shortly before the break.

The Cairo side swiftly profited in the second half, first through Mohamed Sherif with a fine chip, then Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdy before Amr El Solia cracked home Sherif’s clever backheel.

Ahly’s tally of ten African crowns is now double that of their nearest challengers, with city rivals Zamalek and DR Congo’s TP Mazembe both tied on five apiece.

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane moves on to an impressive three Champions League titles, with the Egyptians defending the trophy they won last year while his initial, and arguably greatest, triumph came with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

One of his more unusual successes, since it came against the very team he supported as a boy, made him only the second Al Ahly coach to conquer Africa two years in a row, after Portugal’s Manuel Jose in 2005 and 2006.

Fittingly given his recent fine form, it was Sherif who made the breakthrough in Casablanca’s Stade Mohamed VI to take his tally to nine in his last eight before the forward helped wrap up the win when teeing up fellow Egypt international El Solia.

The holders came into the game as overwhelming favourites, with their record 14th appearance in the final of African club football’s showpiece event coming against a side making their debut.

Playing with new coach Stuart Baxter taking official charge for the first time, Chiefs were in the tie until Mashiane saw red – so decisively tipping the final towards the most successful club in African history.

Prior to the game, Mosimane had hinted that cutting the supply line from the flanks and set-pieces might stymy Chiefs and so it proved as the South Africans failed to find a way past Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy.

Ahly climb to 22 Africa titles while Chiefs still claim just the one, the now-defunct African Cup Winners’ Cup in 2001, but after finishing eighth in the league, some 31 points behind champions Sundowns, reaching the final was a success in itself.

Al Ahly, meanwhile, roll on and will hope to impress at the Club World Cup in a similar fashion to 2020 when they beat Palmeiras of Brazil and took the game to European champions Bayern Munich in an impressive semi-final defeat.

Prior to that, El Shenawy and five Ahly team-mates have more football to play as they head off to Tokyo ahead of Egypt’s Olympic participation later this month.- BBC

Chipanga Returns To Zanu PF

Former ZANU PF national secretary for youth affairs, Kudzanai Chipanga, has expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa following his readmission by the party early this week.

Chipanga was among dozens of G40 apparatchiks who were expelled from ZANU PF in 2017 following the military-assisted transition that ushered in the Second Republic.

He was readmitted alongside former war veterans’ leader, James Kaunye, ex-Zanu PF councillor Taurai Chiripamberi, Talent Kadzima and Nesbert Chasara.

Since his expulsion, Chipanga had always been begging for re-admission back into the party. He said:

I would like to thank President Mnangagwa and the ruling party for finally accepting my application to rejoin the party.

As you are aware, I have been applying for the past four years seeking readmission, and now that my wish has been granted, I will abide by the conditions attached to it.

Kudzai Chipanga

I will work vigorously, in conjunction with my cell leadership, for the betterment of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.

I also want to thank the party leadership from Manicaland for the confidence they have shown in me.

Chipanga was readmitted on condition that he does not contest an election for three years, as he reverts to being an ordinary card-carrying member.

Chiripamberi, who “expelled himself” when he contested as an independent candidate in Headlands constituency in 2018, said, “it is cold out there”.- State media

Man Burns Neighbour To Death Over “Affair” With Wife

A RUSAPE man who suspected that his neighbour was having an affair with his wife fatally tortured him last week after forcing him onto a blazing hot stove, thereby burning his back and chest.

Patrick Chitangarwe (34) of Yorkshire Plot in Headlands confronted Charles Mhaka (45) after seeing him talking to his wife, Viola Chinyadza (32), outside their house at night.

As Chitangarwe pounced on Mhaka, Chinyadza immediately disappeared from the scene.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckson Chananda, confirmed the case and appealed to members of the public for information leading to the arrest of Chitangarwe as he is on the run after committing the crime.

Inspector Chananda said Chitangarwe dragged Mhaka into a kitchen hut where he assaulted him with a stick before burning him.

“On July 8, Mhaka asked Chitangarwe’s wife, Chinyadza, to meet him outside. As the two were talking, Chitangarwe arrived home and saw them talking by the roadside.

“Chitangarwe confronted Mhaka and a misunderstanding ensued between the two. Chinyadza fled from the scene.

Chitangarwe manhandled Mhaka and dragged him into his kitchen hut. He tied Mhaka with a rope and assaulted him,” said Inspector Chananda.

Chitangarwe allegedly pressed Mhaka’s back and chest on a hot fire stove.

“He left Mhaka and went to call his friend, Admire Ngwende, to narrate what had transpired. Ngwende came to Chitangarwe’ house and found Mhaka still alive. The two friends interrogated Mhaka over his alleged affair with Chitangarwe’s wife but he denied it.

“The two left him and went to Chitangarwe’sfather’s homestead to inform him about the incident. When they returned home, they found Mhaka dead. Chitangarwe informed Mhaka’s relatives and they made a police report. Chitangarwe fled and is on the run,” said Inspector Chananda.- Manica Post

I’m Innocent Until Proven Guilty, Says Rolls Royce Owner, Tino Machakaire

“…Those in the justice system know that everyone is innocent until proven guilty by the courts of law…”

Tino Machakaire

By Hon Tino Machakaire, MP | I have seen with concern several stories making rounds on various social media platforms particularly Twitter. Ideally, I would have kept quiet and let time reveal all truths. However, I feel I owe it to you my constituents to set some records straight.

First and foremost no respectful lawyer and or journalist conducts investigations or trials on social media. It solves and achieves nothing. I would have been impressed had they gone to the public with the results of a thoroughly researched investigation.

Secondly, it is true, I do have the capacity to buy the car in question and more. In my entire life, I have never applied for a Government tender or wish to have one. My business covers the whole of Southern Africa with Regional Contracts.

Third, as I mentioned before, no meaningful investigation was ever conducted on social media. If there are any queries or questions regarding my source of income, feel free to approach the relevant offices. It is a matter of public record that I have declared all my wealth to the government thus I have nothing to hide. I do not appreciate people taking liberties with my name and reputation.

I have worked hard, day and night to get to where I am today. The possessions I have today we’re not acquired by waging keyboard wars and misleading the masses trying to gain a following. They were acquired by hard work and dedication. Those that know me, know that I have an open door policy. I am more than willing to share the story of my success.

In conclusion, let us not seek relevance by dragging others through the mud. Those in the justice system know that everyone is innocent until proven guilty by the courts of law. Let us use our huge followings on social media for the greater good for example making people aware of the danger that is COVID-19 and the importance of being vaccinated. We will go far as a country once we do that.

Rolls Royce Zanu Pf Minister Responds

By A Correspondent- Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation Tinoda Machakarika, also known as Tinomudaishe Machakaire, has responded to media reports claiming he recently bought a Rolls Royce Phantom worth £330 000.

In a post on his Facebook page, Machakarika said he felt constrained to set the record straight after the issue was widely discussed on social media platforms, particularly Twitter.

The Wedza South MP challenged Zimbabweans with a huge social media following to use their presence on the platforms for the greater good instead of gossiping. Pindula News is publishing Machakarika’s post in full, below:

Power Struggles Haunt ZAOGA

By A Correspondent- One of Zimbabwe’s oldest pentecostal churches, the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) Forward in Faith (FIF), is reported to be in the throes of a vicious power struggle as factions prepare for life after the 98-year-old founder Ezekiel Guti.

Zim Morning Post reported that one faction has technically held Guti hostage, pushing him to anoint a successor before he leaves.

A source was quoted as saying since January this year, Guti has been “taken hostage” at his Chitungwiza home on the pretext that “the man of God was instructed to go and work from Chitungwiza.”

Said the source:

That is the official reason being pushed out there but we know Guti has been held hostage by a faction that has coalesced around his wife.

He is under involuntary house arrest. He is being managed to his death. ‘Chinhu chatorwa ne G40 yemuchurch’ (power has been grabbed by the church’s younger generation).

G40 was a ZANU PF faction that coalesced around former President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace, before the military coup of November 2017.

Another church elder told Zim Morning Post that Guti has become inaccessible as those close to him have been booted out of their influential positions.

Said the elder:

They have already taken control of the church. The fight began when properties were transferred from his name without his knowledge and it took his daughter from his first marriage to reverse the move.

Meanwhile, Eunor Guti (Guti’s wife) is said to be aware of the power struggle and is said to be siding with a faction that is currently with the upper hand.

Long-serving members were reportedly fired without following due processes in order to clear the way for a preferred successor to take over.

A high profile casualty of the brewing “coup” is said to be long-serving secretary general Washington Rupapa.

A source said:

Rupapa was Guti’s right-hand man and they had to boot him out so that they isolate the founder.

The temperatures are simmering and if this is not properly handled the church is heading for a split.

People like Gracious Chikore, Dorcas Jaricha and Laverne Simango/ Simukai are playing crucial roles in purgings that are taking place in the church.

Baba Guti had said Joseph Guti was to remain at the headquarters, in a move many saw as the anointing of a successor but he is being slowly pushed out.

The publication’s efforts to get a comment from the current secretary-general Mishael Nyambo were fruitless as his mobile phone went unanswered and a message via WhatsApp sent to him was not responded to.

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been sacked as the head coach of the Zambian national team.

A statement by the Zambian FA General Secretary Adrian Kashala confirmed the development, saying the separation ‘was in the interest of progress for both parties’.

“FAZ can confirm that it has reached a mutual separation agreement with its senior Men’s National Team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. Rautenbach also seized productive land belonging to the villagers.

Mr Mnangagwa himself has reportedly blessed Rautenbach’s actions.

Billy Rotenburg and ZANU pf must stop the business of taking people’s land.

ZanuPf benefactor Bill Rautenbach’s G/fuel project is violating environmental laws. 550HA under irrigation in Munepasa & Chinyamukwakwa areas are under threat as a result of excessive water pollution. Eviction Of Chipinge Villagers: MDC Alliance Denounces Rautenbach’s “Heartless” Move

ALARMING: 50 Mberengwa Rural Teachers Admitted at Hospital with Breathing Problems

ALARMING: 50 Mberengwa rural teachers have reportedly been admitted in Munene Mission Hospital with breathing problems.

Reports doing the rounds are that close to 50 teachers in the Rural schools surrounding the Lutheran church Munene Mission Hospital have been admitted with serious breathing problems suspected to be Covid-19 related.

Contacted regional coordinators of both the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe PTUZ and of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe ARTUZ have confirmed the developments.

Interestingly, all the cases are of those teachers who were allegedly ‘coerced’ by Government to receive both ‘shots’ (1st and 2nd jabs) of the controversial Chinese Sinopharm Vaccine donated to Zimbabwe by the Chinese Communist Party.

It is only a few days ago that (2) teachers of the Mubatapasango School near Mataga growth point (again in Mberengwa), were buried on Friday 9th July 2021 after they were reported having died in their sleep shortly after complaning to those close to them of acute chest pains and breathing difficulties the evening before.

Raymond Majongwe the PTUZ Secretary-General and Dr Takavafira Zhou, President of the PTUZ have both confirmed receiving the reports from agitated teachers and their close of keen, but are now on the ground bent on verifying the claims before issuing statements of how their members should behave as well as the PTUZ and ARTUZ stances going forward.

In the meantime, several MP’s who were deployed by the Government to use the recently announced ‘two weeks’ lockdown to allegedly ‘intimidate’ their constituencies into receiving the Chinese Sinopharm and Sinovax ‘concoctions’ are ‘mum’ about the developments.

Many human rights observers are certain all those who are reported to be ‘clamouring’ for ‘injections’ with the Chinese Trial vaccines at all vaccination centres , are doing so out of intimidation and coercion than out ‘conviction’ and therefore ‘ not voluntarily’.

It is understood the WHO has advised the Zimbabwean Government to suspend the mass vaccination of its populace until the reports are verified, because Zimbabwe might ‘terminate’ a large section of its population through its ‘Chinese Sinopharm’ vaccination programme.

Frighteningly enough Dr Robert Mudyiradima the head of the Government Vaccination Program was quoted ‘Live and Direct’ admitting that the Government was using its citizens as Guinea pigs to Chinese Experimental Vaccines when he (in Shona) said: “We are ONLY going to know if the Chinese Vaccines work or not after we have vaccinated the people….”

This he said ‘LIVE’ on a short 1.2 MB sized video making the rounds on Mass and Social Media intentionally when he was receiving a batch of 2 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine that is reportedly ‘slaughtering’ thousands in Indonesia.

Dr Takavafira Zhou hails from Chegato in Mberengwa and an aspiring MP for the Mberengwa North Parliamentary seat.

This is a developing story, more to follow….

Murowa Diamond Mine A Covid-19 Super-Spreader

Murowa Diamond Mine – FILE

Dear

We Murowa community would like to register our total displeasure with the operations of Murowa Diamonds in view of the rising Covid-19 infections and related death. As it stands the mine is a dangerous super spreader as it has not “locked in” its hundreds of workers most of whom come from covid hot spots. The mine didn’t heed the government’s call to de-congest and all its contract workers commute from their homes thereby risking the whole community.

As we write covid 19 infectious and deaths are rising tremendously with the community. Surely the mine should have done better to protect or at least mitigate the risk of covid 19 transmission to the local communities. We understand the mine doesn’t test for covid butbreky on symptoms. Surely that’s absurd. This mine has the luxury to ferry its employees to and from work using an expensive plane but doesn’t care about testing its employees at a time covid related deaths are skyrocketing. We have said it on numerous occasions that this mine doesn’t care about lives especially those of its contract workers and the surrounding communities. The contract workers are more like modern day slaves working for more than 5 years as causul worker with no pension. Communities’ homes and buildings are cracking and collapsing due to the devastating blasting being carried out by the mine. Most homes and buildings are now too dangerous to stay in as they have been reduced to death traps.

We urge the government to intervene immediately so as to avoid the approaching catastrophe that will wipe out the whole of Murowa Community. We also pray for the government to listen to our grievances regarding the operations of this senseless and careless mine which has brought us more miseries, sorrow, deaths and poverty. Its a solid fact the diamonds have not brought any tangible development to Murowa ward. The mine is simply looting our resources without ploughing back to the community while those responsible for devolution are sleeping on duty or maybe getting fat khaki envelopes.

Zanu PF Institutional Incapacity To Blame For Economic Abyss – Not Sanctions

Police “Stammer” Over Marange Apostolic Sect Gathering

By A Correspondent- Police yesterday claimed that members of the Johanne Marange Apostolic sect that are said to have gathered in Manicaland for an annual festival were permanent residents at a shrine there.

Activists have been pushing the police to act against the thousands that allegedly congregated at Mafararikwa in Bocha as they were violating Covid-19 restrictions.

The church commands a huge following across the country and in the region and an estimated 20 000 congregants gather in Marange every year for their annual Passover feast.

This year church members have been gathered since July 3. They only started dispersing last night.

Police, who have been saying they were not aware of what was happening at the shrine, yesterday said there was never a gathering.

“As far as police is concerned, there are no people gathered in Marange except for those who are permanent residents at the shrine,” police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.

“Police have deployed officers on the ground to monitor the situation.

“Police in Marange, Manicaland, in their findings said there are no people gathered in Marange.”

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights last week wrote to the police demanding action to disperse the church members, raising Covid-19 fears. The police did not respond to the July 12 letter.

Bocha Diamond Community Trust chairman Moses Mukwada also gave police 48 hours to act, but there was no action. Makwanda is based in Manicaland.

Villagers in Marange yesterday said they feared a Covid-19 outbreak as the shrine was overcrowded.

Mukwada said in previous years, even without Covid-19, there were outbreaks of diseases after the sect’s Passover gathering.

“The Johanne Marange apostolic members are dispersing tomorrow (today) after their annual Passover, so we are fearing the worst because these people are going back to their respective communities and many of them are from Marange,” he said.

“We think that Covid cases are going to rise sharply,” he said.

“These people don’t sanitise and they don’t even want to be vaccinated.

“In previous years even without Covid-19, whenever these people dispersed we encountered outbreaks of diseases such as cholera.”

Mukwada claimed that there were political bigwigs, who were in support of the gathering.

Dynamos FC Star Battles Stroke

Govt Under Fire Over Chitungwiza Travel Ban

By A Correspondent- Chitungwiza residents and legislators have criticised the government decision to prohibit travel between Harare and the dormitory town except for essential services and huumanitarian reasons.

The government on Friday said Chitungwiza was considered a city, hence travel was banned to control the spread of Covid-19.

Residents said the decision would rob them of their livelihoods as an estimated third of the workforce in Harare resides in Chitungwiza while businesses in the sprawling town rely on supplies from the capital.

Chitungwiza South legislator Maxwell Mavhunga said the inconsistencies in policy implementation by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration are worrisome and “smack of political rather than logical reasoning”.

“For starters, Chitungwiza is part of Harare metropolitan province. Secondly, businesses in Harare have not been shut down,” Mavhunga said.

“It does not need a rocket scientist to discern that most of the workforce in Harare comes from the metropolitan province’s areas that include Chitungwiza.

“Government’s statement has the effect that all Chitungwiza residents can no longer go to work if they are not essential services.”

Mavhunga argued that government should just come out clean and introduce a level 5 lockdown.

Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala said: “From St Mary’s police to Harare Post Office, it’s exactly 20km. From Zimre Park to Harare it’s exactly 20km.

“People of Chitungwiza have been banned from getting into Harare (central business district). Aren’t we the people of Chitungwiza belonging to Harare metropolitan province?

Chitungwiza North MP Godfrey Sithole said radical measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 without social safety nets were bound to create criminal elements.

“In as much as we would want to support measures meant to curtail the spread of Covid-19, it is also very bad for the government to just announce such a radical measure without putting in place social safety nets for citizens,” Sithole said.

“This will create another pandemic of hunger and other social ills associated with unemployment such as prostitution and robberies.”

A businessman at Makoni shopping centre said many businesses that were into electrical goods and motor vehicle spares would be affected as they buy them from wholesalers in Harare.

“We will be affected in many ways because we travel to town almost every day since there are no wholesalers for electrical goods, motors spares and hardware in Chitungwiza.

“I think their main agenda is to make sure all Chitown and Norton residents get vaccinated first in order to go to town since we are the most populated town,” said the businessman.

Police yesterday were still to implement the measures announced by Information ministry spokesperson Nick Mangwana as people continued to travel freely between Harare and Chitungwiza and the other metropolitan areas under Harare.

Impact Of COVID-19 On Persons With Psychosocial Disability

Water Meter Thieves Wreck Havoc In Byo

By A Correspondent- Water metre thieves have wrecked havoc in Bulawayo with more than 200 households having lost the gadgets to thieves in the past month alone

Speaking during a Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) organized virtual meeting Friday, ward  17 councillor Sikhululekile Moyo expressed concern over the  increase of  crime cases in her ward.

“I am really worried about an upsurge in criminal activities in my ward which covers Pumula. The major    challenge which residents are facing in the ward is the theft of water meters. Last month alone, more than 200 houses in Pumula South were affected by the thefts,” said Moyo who is also the caretaker councillor for ward 19 whose councillor, Clayton Zana was recalled from council by the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC-T last year.

The councillor also bemoaned the theft of goal posts at neighbouring schools as well as the thefts of copper wire and public boreholes control boxes in the two wards.

“A lot of boreholes in the wards have been vandalized by these thieves. As councillor, I am appealing to the residents to work with the police to prevent these criminal activities,” said the councillor.

Speaking at the same meeting, participants proposed the resuscitation of neighbourhood communities in the wards.

The meeting was held under the theme “a conversation about crime rise in Bulawayo’s ward 17 and 19.

Following an upsurge of brass water meters thefts and vandalism in the city, the local authority early this year indicated that it is phasing out the brass water meters and replace them with plastic meters.

Senior ZanuPF Leader Succumbs To COVID-19

ZANU-PF Matabeleland South provincial chairperson Cde Rabelani Choeni has died.

He was 71. Cde Choeni died at his rural home in Malusungani in Beitbridge District on Friday due to Covid-19 related complications.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Matabeleland South chairman Cde Section Ncube said the province will be poorer without Cde Choeni. Cde Choeni was also the war veterans provincial secretary for health.

“Matabeleland South has been robbed, it’s a painful experience that Covid-19 is wreaking havoc. I was with him in 1975 at Morogoro in Tanzania and we trained together. After training we had different missions and we split when he went to the front. His passing on was tragic, he had been working tirelessly for the party and we were under his stewardship. Matabeleland South will not be the same without him. We are hoping that our senior leadership will look into his case and the work he did for the nation and accord him a befitting hero status. We will also make recommendations in that regard,” said Cde Ncube

Warriors Coach Logarusic Under Fire As ZIFA Says They Wanted COSAFA Trophy

ZIFA board member Bryton Malandule has cast aside Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic’s insistence that the Cosafa Cup was an experimental tournament, saying the association expected the team to win the regional showpiece.

Zimbabwe were booted out of the tournament after a poor show in which they lost two games and drew two, including losing to a third string Senegal side in the last game.

In trying to justify the insipid display, Logarusic claimed that Cosafa was just an experimental tournament to access players in preparation for CHAN and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, suggestions which have now been rubbished by Malandule, who is also the association’s head of the Technical and Development Committee.

“From a board point of view, we expected these guys to go and win the tournament, that was the mandate. That is why we sacrificed our little resources, we cannot send people, when we don’t have money to on holiday, to go and make experiments,” he told The Sunday News.

“We sent them to go and win. Someone came all way from the USA, we had Mapisa (Mapisa) from Spain, those are serious players so we expected better performances, so let’s wait and see the explanation from the coach as to why did perform dismally like this,’’ added Malandule.

The association is expected to review the team’s performance based on the technical team’s report and a decision will be made thereafter.

Mr 2%: Mnangagwa’s Dance With Failure

It’s just 2% pass rate for Emmerson Mnangagwa!

Out of a whole 237 electoral promises he pledged to the electorate in 2018, Emmerson Mnangagwa managed to fulfill only 5 and that constitute only 2%.

This was revealed by a credible and independent research body, Sivio Institute.

Steven Sarkozy Chuma

Never mind about his useless and senseless “huge progress” rhetoric, Mnangagwa is failure personified!

Among a plethora of lies that he promised, Mr 2% failed to fulfill his 1,5 million housing program, 2000 new schools and employment pledges.

Here is a father of lies who besides dwarfing the democratic space by has virtually done nothing to improve the standards of living for the masses.

Instead of employment creation, Mnangagwa decimated the remaining informal sector through demolition of vending stalls.

Thousands of jobs were lost through criminalization of private players in the commuting transport business.

Many who were surviving from vending and commuting transport business can no longer afford to put food on the table -all thanks to Mr 2%.

Imagine all the kombi drivers, hwindis and vendors who lost their sources of income due to anti-people policies of Mr 2%!

This is a wake up call to all Zimbabweans that we should elect servant leaders who honour their promises. A pro-people and God-fearing leader in the mould Advocate Nelson Chamisa can surely do better if given a chance.

It’s time to reject Mr 2 % and all that he represents -failure!

Rolls Royce Saga: Nick Mangwana Says It’s Not Machakaire’s Car

By A Correspondent| Information Secretary Nick Mangwana has refuted social media claims that the Rolls Royce that broke the Internet yesterday belonged to Deputy Youths, Sports and Arts minister Tinoda Machakaire.

Posting on Twitter, Mangwana said Machakaire was not the owner of the said Rolls Royce as he already had a similar car.

“Let me make this point clear. @HonMachakaire who I know pretty well is not the buyer of that car. He already has a similar car so he doesn’t need to buy one more. 2- He declared his wealth in parliament so what he has is a matter of public record. 3-He has never won a govt tender,” said Mangwana.

He further chastised society for haunting the rich saying success in life is not transferred by simply hating the well-offs.

“I see some have made it their pastime to hate the rich among us. I think Some hate the rich because their success is an indictment on their own failures. Success does not transfer to us just because we don’t wish it on anyone else. Let’s not be a country that haunts its well-offs,” said Mangwana.

Social media was abuzz with a TikTok video of a Rolls Royce which was being shipped to Zimbabwe with the guy who appeared in the video saying it belongs to a government minister.

A local online news site ZimLive then followed up with a story which quoted an unnamed source claiming that Rolls Royce belonged to Machakaire.

Meanwhile there were mixed feelings to a post by opposition MDC Alliance Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere who posted about the Rolls Royce with some defending Machakaire as a businessman who made his fortunes outside government.

One Twitter user, Dr Controlla Gabi questioned the authenticity of the circulating video.

“Has this even been confirmed? Is it even a gvt car? Trial-by-Tiktok. Interesting that even grown lawyers are this excitable. One day they tell us they believe in the presumption of innocence and then, enter a Tiktok Rolls Royce, they suddenly become hysterical. Holy Mary!!,” said Gabi.

He further reiterated Mangwana’s remarks that society should not make it a habit to hate the rich for their successes.

“I’m with you there. But we should shun accusing people who are more successful than us just because they are doing well. At the same time, we shouldn’t use social media content as evidence. That’s wrong for our country too. Let’s fight for social justice, but let’s do so fairly,” added Gabi.

Machakaire could not be reached for a comment as he was believed to be in his constituency in Wedza.

GMB Bans Unvaccinated Employees From Reporting For Duty

THE Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has become one of the first companies in the country to ban workers who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 from work as the parastatal moves to protect its workforce and customers.

In an internal memorandum seen by Sunday News, the company has directed that all workers must be vaccinated by end of this month, failure of which they would be barred from accessing the company facilities.

GMB said more than 150 of its workers have already tested positive for Covid-19. At one point, the GMB was forced to shut down one of its depots because of the high numbers of Covid-19 infections that had been reported at that depot.

GMB has 3 569 employees countywide including contract workers but only 1 289 have been vaccinated against Covid-19. In the memo signed by chief executive officer Mr Rockie Mutenha, he said all workers not vaccinated must stay at home as from 1 August.

“GMB provides essential services to the public, as such, we are considered front line employees. In view of that, All GMB employees must be vaccinated in order to protect the public that we serve. All GMB employees must be vaccinated by 31 July 2021. Those not vaccinated by that day should stop coming to work as from 1 August 2021 as they will remain a threat to other employees and other stakeholders that visit GMB depots,” he said.

Mr Mutenha said more than 2 280 workers have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

“Most GMB depots are in hot spot areas which is catastrophic as the unvaccinated 2 280 employees are coming to work every day and mixing with the other employees and farmers thus potentially endangering their own lives and the lives of other people,” he said.

Mr Mutenha advised workers that the Government has acquired huge quantities of vaccines which are being administered for free at various health facilities across the country. The Government has made it clear that the country needs to reach herd immunity in order to ensure the population is safe. The target is to vaccinate 70 percent of the population which equates to about 10 million of the people in Zimbabwe.

Prosecutor Who Labelled A Harare Resident Magistrate “Very Stupid” Now Wants Biti Jailed For Calling A Russian Woman “Stupid”

By A Correspondent| The Harare Magistrates Court is caught in a dilemma where it expected to adjudicate on a case where a senior state prosecutor who once labelled a resident Magistrate ‘very stupid’ and got away with it, now wants opposition politician and lawyer Tendai Biti convicted for calling a Russian woman ‘stupid’.

State Prosecutor Michael Reza dominated headlines in 2019 after he mistakenly send a text message to the popular Advocate Thabani Mpofu of the ‘Fulcrum and Pith’ fame instead of Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU) head Tabani Mpofu while calling a female magistrate ‘very stupid’ for ruling in favour of an application by top lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa to have Biti’s trial for treason livestreamed.

Now the same Reza wants Biti convicted for calling Pokugara Properties Chief Operations Officer Tatiana Aleshina ‘stupid’ following an altercation at the Harare Magistrates Court.

Biti is representing Harare businessman George Katsimberis in a case where he is being charged of fraud, a counter case filed to neutralise a serious matter where the Harare businessman reported Pokugara Properties Managing Director Michael John Van Blerk and City of Harare officials for malicious damage to property.

Just yesterday, Reza was at it again calling Biti’s lawyer Alec Muchadehama an idiot after he had called him to order for trying to force the arrest of the powerful MDC Alliance vice President who could not attend his trial after coming into contact with a Covid-19 positive person at his workplace.

Biti’s lawyer Muchadehama told Harare Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti that his client was isolating in line with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, which did not go down well with Reza who refused a postponement of the trial.

Muchadehama then said Reza was being malicious in failing to understand a simple issue adding that he was pushing a personal vendetta against the Harare East legislator.

Reza then lost his temper and hit back saying Muchadehama’s insistence that he is malicious was forcing him to also call him an idiot.

“Your worship, if my learned colleague continues to call me malicious, I will also call him an idiot,” snapped Reza.

Muchadehama has previously tried to have Reza removed from prosecuting Biti.

Infact it raises questions of personal interests why a senior prosecutor would want to handle a case where Biti is being accused of calling the Russian woman ‘stupid’ a matter that would ordinarily be reserved for a junior prosecutor.

Obert Gutu’s NPRC Position Under Threat

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) is seeking a declaratory order in the High Court that the National Peace and Reconciliation (NPRC) Commissioner, Advocate Obert Gutu has ceased being a commissioner.

Represented by the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, ZimRights argues that in terms of section 236 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, any politician appointed to an independent commission, they must renounce their political party membership within 30 days of the appointment or they immediately cease to be a commissioner.

Using social media, Gutu publicly announced that he was joining Zanu PF before being appointed commissioner and he has not said anything about resignation as required by law
“Gutu’s comments on Gukurahundi reflect that his political activism in Zanu PF makes it impossible for him to have the compassion and empathy required for a commissioner of the NPRC. He cannot win the confidence of the victims and survivors. It is good for such activists to be removed from the commission. They are a danger to the mission of NPRC, “ZimRights Director, Dzikamai Bere said.

A member of the ZimRights Right to Peace Action Zone, Maria Nkomo, “Obert Gutu can not be commissioner. He is a political activist and his sentiments on Gukurahundi makes us doubt his capabilities to represent the interest of the people.”

The NPRC is one of independent commissions established by Chapter 12 of the Constitution. The commission since it inception has struggled to deal with the deepening confidence deficit and the case of Obert Gutu makes this situation even worse.

Bulawayo To Ban Mourners From Its Cemeteries

The Bulawayo City Council will soon introduce a policy to ban mourners from attending burials at its cemeteries as concerns grow that gatherings at funerals and burials were becoming Covid-19 super spreaders.

The Government has already announced that not more than 30 people must attend funerals but it has been noted that most people were not adhering to the directive. Bulawayo Deputy Mayor Councillor Mlandu Ncube said as funerals were fast being singled out as hotspots they would soon be forced to reserve burials for undertakers only.

Health experts, last week identified funeral gatherings as Covid-19 superspreaders as residents continue defying guidelines, a situation which has resulted in an upsurge of deaths and new cases in Bulawayo.

According to the enhanced level four national lockdown, the Government limited funeral gatherings to 30 people and banned overnight vigils. With the surge in Covid-19 deaths, this has seen the increase of burials in the city’s cemeteries with the local authority further revealing that they are also recording an increase of bodies being repatriated from outside the country with South Africa topping the list.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care revealed that in the past six days up to Friday, out of the 394 deaths recorded in the country, Bulawayo had 74 Covid-19 related deaths.

Commenting on the need to control the pandemic spreading at funerals, Clr Ncube said if people continue to defy measures as council they will ban mourners from burials and only undertakers allowed at cemeteries.

“Health experts have told us that these funerals are now super spreaders therefore our residents should have this in mind and comply with the laid down guidelines in terms of the people who can attend funerals. However, if the public choose to continue ignoring these guidelines we will be forced to introduce a policy where we will ban the funeral gatherings as a means of saving lives because we cannot continue relaxing while this pandemic takes our close friends and relatives,” said the Deputy Mayor.

He said for people to get back to their normal ways of life there was a need for a total change of attitude so as to help contain the pandemic. Debating at a virtual full council meeting, councillors singled out burials and the continued flocking into the Central Business District (CBD) by residents as some of the avenues that were causing high levels of infections in the city.

Ward 22 Councillor, Rodney Jele called on the local authority to up its education campaigns within the city rather than leave all the talking to be done via the Central Government.

“My concern is mainly about the Covid-19 pandemic, as council we should play a leading role in educating our residents on the World Health Organisation’s prevention protocols. Yes, residents are proud of their city and always want to be in the Central Business District but it is now important that even the Mayor, comes out and conscientise them on this pandemic.

“Our residents have to be told that in the event that they do not have anything important they want in the CBD they should just stay at home. We have allowed the Government to take a lead role yet we are here, interacting on a daily basis with our residents,” said Clr Jele.

Ward 25 Councillor, Mzama Dube said more needed to be done in terms of monitoring funerals and burials noting that there was general overcrowding in these areas, with residents ignoring the 30 people cap imposed by Government.

“At cemeteries, despite council coming up with a facility where we dig and also fill-up the graves, go there now you will find mourners busy doing that for themselves. Further while for the actual burial they limit to the required 30 mourners, outside the cemeteries it’s a different picture with hundreds of mourners gathering there at any given time,” said Clr Dube.

Mayor, Clr Solomon Mguni concurred saying there was a need for council to take a leading role in conscientizing residents noting that the pandemic was equally affecting everyone.

Meanwhile, according to the latest council report, Health Services Director Dr Edwin Sibanda reported that Bulawayo’s cemeteries had in June recorded high numbers of burials of bodies repatriated from South Africa.

“The Director of Health Services reported that Athlone West Cemetery recorded burials from outside the city as follows, South Africa (11), Botswana (2), Harare (1) and Umguza (2). Luveve Cemetery recorded bodies from outside the city as follows; South Africa (10), Binga (1), Gokwe (1), Lupane (1), Plumtree (1) and Umguza (3),” reads part of the report.

Chipanga Worships Mnangagwa After Being Readmitted Into Zanu PF

Egyptian Giants Al Ahly Thrash Kaizer Chiefs: Match Report

SA’s Democracy, Mandela’s Greatest Legacy, Had A Stress-Test, A Trump Test

By Wilbert Mukori | “Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, statesman and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election,” states Wikipedia.

indepth...Wilbert Mukori
indepth…Wilbert Mukori

Wikipedia does not do justice to the man, Nelson Mandela was above all else a visionary leader and, as befitting all visionary leaders, his influence was felt during his lifetime and will echo for many, many more generations to come.

What makes Nelson Mandela such a colossus is that visionary leaders are rare, one in a dynast if you luck, one in a generation if you are very, very luck. In Africa, it is no exaggeration to say visionary leaders are so rare one was given to believed they are extinct. Mount Everest stands majestic as the highest peak in the Himalayas Mountain range. How much more majestic Mount Everest would be if all round it was land as flat as a pancake with a few anthill and rock outcrops a few metres high; such is the standing of Nelson Mandela amongst his fellow Africans.
Some people have criticized Nelson Mandela for failing to lift his fellow blacks out of poverty, “as President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, has done!”.

Full kudos to Paul Kagame for he has indeed managed to stamp out corruption and implement very progressive economic and social policies which have improve the qualitative and quantitative standards of living of Rwandans. Paul Kagame has had the time to implement his transformative agenda; he has been president for the last 20 years and before that, 1994 to 2000, he was VP; Mandela was president for 5 years.

Paul Kagame has created a political system that has allowed him to stay in power regardless of the democratic wishes of the people. It has been ok whilst he remained in power because he has clearly shown that he has very sound economic and social policies to take the nation forward. The problem arises with those who will come after him they will all want to enjoy the same carte blanche powers that has allowed Kagame to stay in power all these years, regardless of their leadership abilities.

All living things will seek power and dominance over others, Charles Darwin called it survival of the fittest or natural selection; it is the most primeval and dominant force on planet earth and will rule supreme to the end of time. What has taken Kagame nearly three decades to accomplish will take a corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrant – the overwhelming majority of African leaders fit the bill – will destroy in a matter of months! And there lies the distinction between Paul Kagame and Nelson Mandela.

Mandela’s legacy is one of a healthy and functioning democratic system of government enabling society to elect the most competent competitive individuals into power and, just as important, to remove them from office before their primeval instinct to dominate kicks in. There is nothing Paul Kagame has done in Rwanda to stop that country being stuck with just another mediocre leader or, worse, a murderous tyrant.

All Kagame’s achievements are just sandcastles, easily washed away in the next tide or wave. Mandela laid a solid foundation on which a stable and prosperous SA can be built.

True, none of Nelson Mandela’s successors, Thabo Mbeki, Jacob Zuma and now Cyril Ramaphosa, have accomplished anything of note in their years in office. If the truth be told the ordinary South Africans themselves are to blame for failing to take advantage of the country’s democratic institutions to ensure the elected leaders with some common sense. One hopes that the last 25 years of mediocre to downright corrupt governance under Zuma has a steep learning curve for all South Africans.
Of course, it is very frustrating to every South African that the country has not made any significant inroads into ending poverty in that country; however, no one can deny that the country’s next elections will be free, fair and credible and thus there is hope the nation will be more careful and elect leaders with some common sense, at least.
South Africans are better off than other nations like Zimbabwe in which the individuals who fought to end white colonial rule turned the guns on the ordinary people to impose themselves as the nation’s next rulers; for 41 years and counting the nation has been stuck with corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs. Zimbabwe’s economy is in total ruins; the nation has sunk from a upper middle income nation in 1980 to one of the poorest in Africa.
Zimbabwe is due to hold elections in 2023 and already it is clear that Zanu PF will rig the elections, the party has already said it will, once again, deny 3 million plus Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote. Mnangagwa reportedly won the 2018 presidency with 2.4 million vote constituting 50.8% of the cast votes! How can an election in which 30% of the eligible voters are denied the vote be a legal, free, fair and credible elections!
The last few weeks have stress tasted SA’s democratic system of government. Former SA President Jacob Zuma and his supporters triggered some of the worst looting, burning and lawlessness since the country’s independence to protest the imprisonment of Zuma. They believe Zuma is above the law and the looting and burning was not going to stop until Zuma was released!
The looting and burning has largely stopped and the lunatics who inspired it are now condemning. They have had the chance to sober up, look down the precipitous fall into the abyss and turn back. They are now agreeing on the need for rule of law, that no one should be above the law, and are ready to embrace Nelson Mandela’s legacy of democracy as SA’s system of government.
In 2016 the American made the mistake of electing Donald Trump President and his four years in office was to tress-test that country’s democratic institutions like nothing since that country’s civil war. The institutions held and in 2020 the nation replace Trump and the country and most of the free world heaved a big sigh of relief!
South Africa and most African nations heaved a big sigh of relief when the looting and burning in SA stopped and Zuma was still in prison where he belongs!
If rule of law and democracy, Nelson Mandela’s greatest legacy to SA, SA will thrive and, in good time elect competent and accountable leaders who will finally address the nation’s economic and social challenges to create a more just, free and prosperous nation in which no one is left behind. If democracy and good governance is proven to work in SA, the pressure for the other African countries to adopt it as a tried and tested system of government will be irresistible. And so Mandela’s legacy to SA will sweep the continent, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, like the life giving rain storm after a prolonged drought!
Zimbabweans have never ever participated in a legal, free, fair and credible elections; a right many the world-over take for granted but one which we have been promised but cheated of again and again. As a child I used to dance for joy in the first rain to mark the end of the dry season I know many Zimbabweans will cry for joy the day Zimbabwe holds its first ever free, fair and credible elections given it may never happen for several more generations!- SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

COVID-19 Vaccines: Key Questions And Answers

Questions and Answers on COVID-19 vaccines

Q: How have the vaccines been developed so quickly? Does this mean that their safety and efficacy has been compromised?

A: The speed of development of COVID-19 vaccines has been unprecedented for several reasons, but the safety and efficacy requirements for vaccines have not been compromised, Vaccine development was facilitated by:

The massive financial investment by governments, industry and philanthropic organisations in vaccine development and the re-direction of much of the global research and commercial infrastructure for the development and manufacture of vaccines. Governments also enabled companies to take the commercial risk of manufacturing some vaccine stocks ahead of regulatory approvals.

New technologies adapted from the development of other vaccines – mRNA vaccines were developed for COVID-19 very rapidly after the sequence of the COVID-19 virus was determined, but the underlying technology had been under development since much longer and production could be scaled up very quickly. The adenovirus technology used for adenovirus vector vaccines was first tested with SARS, MERS and Ebola virus over the last 20 years, and so was able to be adapted quickly to COVID-19, which has several similarities to these viruses.

Clinical trial successes – it has been possible to rapidly recruit large numbers of volunteers into clinical trials and, with unfortunately high rates of infection in several countries, to complete trials with 10,000-50,000 people in a short period of time. Under normal circumstances, it may take many months or even a few years to carry out trials of this size to determine whether a vaccine is effective.
Very close collaboration – between regulators, industry and clinical researchers enabled clear indications of regulatory requirements and early access to results.

Intensive and insightful research – researchers predicted that the “spike protein” on the virus would be a good target for vaccine development, and almost all vaccines have been designed to induce a response to this protein. So far, the spike protein has produced a strong immune response in those vaccinated, and for those vaccines that have reported clinical results are highly protective from COVID-19 disease.
Q: Will mRNA vaccines affect the DNA of vaccine recipients?

A: No. The mRNA in the vaccine has not been shown to incorporate itself into the genes of vaccine recipients and breaks down in the weeks after vaccination. mRNA vaccines contain genetic instructions for our cells, which only read them and provide copies of the SARS-CoV2 spike protein. This enables the body’s natural immune systems to cause a response in vaccine recipients if they are later exposed to the virus.

Q: How long will COVID-19 vaccination provide protection for immunised people?

A: We do not yet know how long protection from any of these vaccines lasts. We will get better insights over the next 12 months.

The duration of protection provided by vaccines can vary. For example, the seasonal influenza vaccine is given annually, because the influenza virus mutates, and protection wanes over a number of months. Other vaccines, such as those for rubella or measles provide multi-year or even life-long protection from disease. Mutations in key viral proteins can mean that virus variants emerge. The SARS-CoV-2-coronavirus is prone to mutations that creates variants, some of which have become established in a number of regions of the world. The scientific community and regulators are very actively monitoring whether the current vaccines can continue protecting people from infection with new variants.
A number of vaccine developers are currently developing vaccines against the range of variants, and it is likely that booster shots with these vaccines will increase protection against known variants. Regulators have agreed that review of data on vaccines against variants will be facilitated based on assessment of immune response to the variant, in the same way that new seasonal influenza vaccines are evaluated each year.
Q: Why are there so many vaccine candidates?

A: As the global seriousness of the pandemic became rapidly apparent, development of effective vaccines for COVID-19 became the top priority of many pharmaceutical companies and medical research institutes. There was also unprecedented government and private sector investment in vaccine development. There is now a wide range of technologies for developing new vaccines – and many of the organisations developing COVID-19 vaccines have particular experience in one or more of these technologies. This has ensured that there would still be vaccines available if some were not approved for reasons of efficacy, safety or manufacturing challenges.

Q: What if many people start getting a reaction from a particular COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Short-term reactions, such as soreness at the injection site, fatigue or headache are common following any vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines. These reactions usually pass in a day or two. If new evidence becomes available that suggests that a specific serious adverse event may be linked to a particular COVID-19 vaccine then regulators will take action, working collaboratively on a global basis and liaise with public health authorities. The type of actions that can be taken depend on the nature of the adverse event, and could range from issuing safety warnings for patients, healthcare professionals and the community; updating the product information or consumer information for the vaccine to show contraindications for the use in particular patients (e.g. those with certain co-morbidities); to closely monitoring adverse events in certain groups of patients; preventing the release of a particular batch of vaccine through to temporary suspension of the use of the vaccine until more is known.

Q: How are regulators speeding up the time it takes to authorise a COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Many regulators globally have implemented faster access pathways for COVID-19 vaccines, without compromising on strict standards of safety, quality and efficacy.

Some countries have Emergency Use Authorisation pathways which assess the available data at the time of authorisation. Exercising these provisions is a matter for those countries, taking into account the benefits versus risks in the context of the prevailing domestic pandemic situation. Different countries may coin this pathway or authorisation routes differently but essentially, they follow the same principles.
Other countries have implemented accelerated/priority, conditional or provisional approval schemes.

Under normal circumstances, regulatory assessment begins once all information to support registration is available. For COVID-19 vaccines, many regulators have agreed to accept data on a rolling basis to enable early evaluation of data as it becomes available. Regulators will only be in a position to make a provisional approval decision for a vaccine once there is sufficient data to support adequately the safety, quality and effectiveness of the vaccine for its intended use. If a decision is made to grant provisional or conditional approval, it will be based on the requirement for the sponsor to submit more comprehensive, longer term clinical data, stability data and other information with agreed timelines.
Q: Did our country approve this COVID-19 vaccine, or are we relying on another country’s approval?

A: Most countries are carrying out independent regulatory evaluations on the submitted data for each vaccine. However, to ensure a more efficient use of resources and expertise, regulators in different countries are communicating closely on safety, efficacy and quality data and discussing technical issues as they may arise. In many cases principles of WHO Good Reliance Practices and collaborative mechanisms leverage the output of other regulators.

Q: Why weren’t very rare blood clots with low platelets with the AstraZeneca or Janssen vaccines picked up during clinical trials?

A: Thromboembolic events with concurrent thrombocytopenia are very rare – with estimates based on the number of spontaneous reports suggesting an overall incidence on the order of 10-15 cases per million doses. The clinical trials of these vaccines included large numbers of people, often with 10,000 to 20,000 individuals in the active vaccine arms, but even in trials of this size it was statistically unlikely that such very rare events would be detected. This shows the importance of continual safety monitoring during the use of these vaccines, to allow very rare events to be detected and investigated further.

State Witness Disowns Police Evidence In Court

By A Correspondent- A `star witness in the corruption trial of CAPS United boss and businessman Farai Jere stunned a court on Friday after disowning police evidence which saw two employees of the power utility ZESA being charged.

Francis Masawi, a consultant hired by ZESA to review a US$3.5 million tender for the supply of smart meters – won by Jere’s Helcraw company – said he did not understand why Leonard Chisina, a ZESA engineer, and Freeman Kuziva Chikonzo, a senior IT manager at the state-owned company, ended up in the dock as Jere’s co-accused.

Masawi, the state’s star witness. disowned a report used by police to arrest the trio, purportedly written by him. He told magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa that he saw the report for the first time at the police station.

Masawi said if the police had used his report he prepared as team leader of ZESA’s internal review of the tender, Chisina and Chikonzo would not have been arrested because they performed their duties professionally.

“The documents I saw at the police station were not signed, and had no dates. Now I’m seeing documents that were not done by me. If they used my report, Chisina and Chikonzo could not have been arrested,” Masawi said.

Helcraw was awarded a contract to supply 1,151 smart meters to ZESA unit, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC). The tender required that the factory acceptance test (FAT) be done at the factory where the meters were to be manufactured.

Prosecutors say Jere misrepresented to ZETDC that his supplier, Secure Meters (Pvt) Ltd, had a manufacturing plant for smart meters in the United Kingdom, resulting in four of the power utility’s employees travelling to the United Kingdom in November 2018 to carry out the FAT.

Jere allegedly took the four ZESA employees, including engineers, to a warehouse with smart meters and not a factory. The meters in the warehouse had a base of 10 amps and maximum current of 120 amps. Tests on the head end system allegedly failed.

Jere, the court heard, produced a fake FAT report to the effect that the meters met the required standards by ZETDC and he asked the four ZESA employees to sign it.

Chisina and Chikonzo signed the FAT report, while engineers Julius Mapipi and Munyaradzi Tshuma expressed reservations and refused to sign.

After returning to Zimbabwe, it is alleged Chisina removed Mapipi and Tshuma from the project before Jere went ahead with the shipment of 1,151 meters for which he was paid US$3,566,878 by the power utility.

ZESA was forced to remove the meters from its network.

Masawi said he was shocked to read an article in the media that Chisina and Chikonzo were suspended over a matter involving the electrical company Helcraw.

“I totally disagreed with that conclusion. I requested that Chisina and Chikonzo should could call me as a witness to their disciplinary hearings since I’m the real author of that report, as team leader of the assignment, which was clearly taken out of context,” Masawi testified.

Masawi said he could not speak for Jere and Helcraw, because his mandate had only been to review the actions of Chisina and Chikonzo.

Jere and his co-accused deny corruption, arguing that the FAT was conducted in accordance with what was agreed in the contract with ZESA.

Through his lawyer Advocate Lewis Uriri, the CAPS United president maintains that there were no specific terms of reference and the FAT was undertaken on the basis of best practice and international standards.

“The FAT was for the purpose of ensuring that what was manufactured was the same as the sample that was provided at adjudication, subject to any agreed changes. The factory test results were machine-generated and could thus not be fake,” Uriri argued in the joint defence outline.

“The results were known to all and what is now complained of was recorded.”

The three men argue that adjudicators passed the samples supplied by Helcraw Electrical by 93 percent.

The prosecution argues that the trio lied that FAT tests were conducted at a factory and thus defrauded ZESA.

Magistrate Gofa postponed the trial to July 19.

Bizzare Punishment For Cheating Hubby

By A Correspondent- A woman found out that her husband had been having an affair with their neighbour for seven months and even got her pre_gnant.

Instead of going crazy, she cut holes in every pair of underwear, shorts, and trousers he owned to make a point about his struggle to “keep it in his trousers” and then divorced him.

In the TikTok video, the woman said she discovered her husband had been having an affair.

“In 2006, I found out my husband had been having a seven-month-long affair with our neighbour and got her preg_nant. So, I took a pair of scissors and cut a hole in every pair of underwear, shorts, and pants he owned.”

According to The Mirror, she did this before ditching him for good.

She reportedly left a note that told him exactly why she wasn’t going to be sticking around.

When the SunTeam asked readers on social media how they would react if they were in this situation, Mosneck Motsilanyane said: “We marry you and you start misbehaving, hence neighbours come and take over.”

Quality Mfoka Mbanga: “If you’re cheating and never get caught, they are cheating too ain’t nobody that dumb.”

Moja Letsuma: “The neighbour is very wicked and heartless. . . looking at you and having conversations with you, while knowing that her and your husband are an item. Cruelty at its best xem.”

Man Crafts Unique Punishment For Wife Denying Him Conjugal Rights

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man from Hope Fountain who could not stomach being denied se_x by his wife chose a bizarre way to show his displeasure — he resorted to uri_nating and defecating on his marital bed.

A seemingly fed-up Memory Ncube shamed her husband Isaac Mpofu in her application for a protection order at the Bulawayo Civil Court.

In her papers she said his reason for the gross behaviour was because she was denying him his c0njugal rights. She said as a way of spiting her for denying him his matrimonial rights, Mpofu wets and poos in the blankets after every night of drinking.

In her suit she said she was now tired of cleaning up her husband’s mess.

“I am customarily married to Isaac Mpofu and he is emotionally and psychologically abusing me. Whenever he comes home drunk he uri_nates and worse, of all, defecates in the blankets. When I ask him, he says he was fixing me because I was denying him se_x.

“It’s not like I’m denying him his c0njugal rights but I’m against his violent behaviour which he exhibits whenever he gets drunk. I am tired of cleaning up his mess.

Worse still, he and his relatives want me to desert our matrimonial home,” Ncube protested in her affidavit.

She said she once tried to engage family members to solve the matter to no avail adding that her husband was also not financially supporting the family.

The parties, however, didn’t come to court and the matter could not be heard in their absence leading it to be struck off the roll.

Olinda, Carol British Jobs U-Turn | LETTER

From Anonymous

Olinda Chapel

Please pass this to Simba to read for the public.

I contacted the number Simba gave us. They confirmed Lorac International and Gain Health Recruitment are all Job scams. Here is what they said:
1. Both companies registered their recruitment agency companies in April 2021. They also own nursing agencies.
2) The Zimbabwe branches of the companies are not registered for tax purposes.
3) None of the Recruitment Agencies in Britain collect money from job seekers. Any Agency that asks for money upfront is a scam.
4) I also contacted CQC and they said Immigration should not have allowed Gain Healthcare to do International recruitment because they were found to be non compliant on 30/3/2021. They should be working on the big list of corrections listed by CQC. The CQC management promised to contact Immigration for clarity.
5) For Carol Nyakudya we contacted the nurses registration and they are looking into it.
Consumer Council also said misleading advertising is a serious offence in Britain.
Thank you Simba for being an Eye Opener. You saved me from paying $100 on Lorac International website and my cousin almost gave Olinda the USD450 in Zimbabwe. Olinda keeps changing the amount she charges.
I contacted British Embassy in Zimbabwe and British Council. I also learnt Olinda is not qualified to train anyone. She is a school drop out who got pregnant before finishing school. She might have lived in the U.K. for 20 years but she never achieved any single qualification all those years. How can she teach IELTS for English test?

Zim Records 102 Covid-19 Deaths

By A Correspondent- The country recorded 102 deaths this Friday from Covid-19 breaking the record and taking the total Covid-19 death toll to 2 520.

However, the new case figure fell to 2 296 with the first hint of a possible plateauing of infection coming from the first fall in the seven-day rolling average, which measures trends, since early June.

The rolling average fell from 2 355 to 2300. If the rolling average remains stable or continues falling for several days it will be a sign that the peak of the third wave has been reached, although there will still be many more cases and deaths before the wave finally recedes.

However, there was a giant jump in vaccination rates with Thursday’s record being dramatically exceeded to 59 750 first doses and 5 128 to give a total of 64 878 jabs in one day, only the second time the 50 000 total has been exceeded.

The total number of jabs are now 1 096 002 first jabs, 635 738 second jabs to give a grand total of 1 731 740 doses administered.

If Zimbabwe averages 50 000 doses a day it will be delivering 1,5 million doses a month and higher totals mean that even that figure will be exceeded.-statemedia

By A Correspondent- Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation Tinoda Machakarika, (ZANU PF), has splashed US$770 000 – including shipping and import duty – on a Rolls Royce Phantom, ZimLive reported.

Machakarika, also referred to as Tinomudaishe Machakaire (39), reportedly paid GVE London £330,000 for the luxury car and £30 000 for shipping – about US$495 800 in total.

GVE London posted videos on social media confirming that it had shipped the car to a Zimbabwean minister, but the company did not name Machakaire.

However,  ZimLive reported multiple sources as having identified Machakaire as the owner of the expensive car.

Another source at the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) estimated duty on the vehicle would be in the region of U$275 000, pushing Machakaire’s total bill to just over US$770 000.

Machakaire’s transport and logistics company, TinMac Motors also reportedly acquired a new fleet of haulage trucks recently.

Machakaire, who represents Wedza South in the National Assembly, is related to Kudakwashe Tagwirei, the millionaire petroleum oligarch who owns Sakunda Holdings.

His company TinMac Motors won huge tenders to move farming equipment and other implements under the US$3 billion Command Agriculture scheme.

Meanwhile, Sakunda Holdings carried out all procurement under Command Agriculture, a scheme which a parliamentary committee concluded was carried out without any accountability.

Britain’s Liberal Democrats party has demanded an inquiry into how ZANU PF elites are moving large sums of money through the United Kingdom’s financial system to fund their lavish lifestyles.

Lord Oates, the Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Zimbabwe, wrote on Twitter:

I am horrified by this and will be asking what the due diligence rules are to prevent this from happening.

It is appalling to see Zimbabwean ministers behave like this when there is so much need in Zimbabwe and equally appalling that it seems like it is being facilitated here.

Back home, opposition MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said:

We continue to demand radical transparency and a far-reaching international audit of the offshore networks that enable looting by Zimbabwean ministers and political elites.

They launder the loot by buying supercars while the masses starve. Corruption is killing us.

Machakaire however, expressed ignorance over the Rolls Royce Phantom deal, saying: “I don’t know anything about this story.”

Daring Buglars BreakInto Police Officers’ Homes

By A Correspondent- Three burglars recently broke into two senior police officers’ houses in Rusape in broad daylight while they were at work.

The trio of George Makwela(35), Collen Rukweza (30) and Peter Angelino (42) — all from Rusape — stole goods and cash worth thousands of dollars from the police officers’ homes.

The three, who had no legal representation, appeared before magistrate Gift Manyika, who denied them bail and remanded them in custody.

The affected cops are the Officer Commanding Rusape and Nyanga District (CID), Detective Superintendent Shepard Tachiona and Rusape District’s Superintendent Collence Nyamukuta.

Public prosecutor, Tawanda Munjanja said the trio took advantage of the police officers’ absence to break into their houses in different locations of Rusape. He said:

On May 31, Superintendent Nyamukuta left home for work and the accused persons took advantage of his absence to break into his house and steal a laptop and US$200.

The complainant discovered the theft around 5 pm when he returned home from work.

On June 17, Detective Superintendent Tachiona left for work. One of the windowpanes was covered by chipboard and supported by a wooden shelf that was inside.

The trio removed the chipboard and wooden shelf and gained entry. They stole blankets, a gas tank and a 20-litre jerry can.

Investigations done led to the arrest of Makwela, Rukweza and Angelino on 30 June.

The value of the stolen property is $54 400 and property worth $40 375 has been recovered so far, some of it from buyers.

Tagwirei Aide Blows Out USD770k on Rolls Royce from London Company

Top Kuda Tagwirei aide, and Deputy sports minister Tinomudaishe Machakaire has blown US$770,000 on a Rolls Royce Phantom.

The 39-year-old paid GVE London £330,000 for the luxury car and £30,000 for shipping – about US$495,800 in total, ZimLive reported Saturday.

GVE London posted videos on social media confirming that it had shipped the car to a Zimbabwean minister, but the company did not name Machakaire. Multiple sources have identified Machakaire as the owner of the expensive motor.

A source at the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority estimated duty on the vehicle would be in the region of U$275,000, pushing Machakaire’s total bill to just over US$770,000.

Machakaire’s transport and logistics company, TinMac Motors, according to sources, also recently acquired a new fleet of haulage trucks.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said: “We continue to demand radical transparency and a far-reaching international audit of the offshore networks that enable looting by Zimbabwean ministers and political elites. They launder the loot by buying supercars while the masses starve. Corruption is killing us.”

Through TinMac Motors, Machakaire won huge tenders to move farming equipment and other implements under the US$3 billion Command Agriculture scheme which a parliamentary committee concluded was carried out without any accountability.

The Zanu PF government has frustrated a push by the opposition to audit Command Agriculture expenditure. Former finance minister Tendai Biti, who chaired the public accounts committee that investigated the corruption, was hounded out of parliament.

Machakaire is related to Kudakwashe Tagwirei, the millionaire petroleum oligarch whose company, Sakunda Holdings, carried out all procurement under Command Agriculture. The United States government last year imposed sanctions on Tagwirei, citing him for “derailing economic development and harming the Zimbabwean people through corruption.”

Britain’s Liberal Democrats party has demanded an inquiry into how Zanu PF elites are moving large sums of money through the United Kingdom’s financial system to fund their lavish lifestyles.

Lord Oates, the Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Zimbabwe, wrote on Twitter: “I am horrified by this and will be asking what the due diligence rules are to prevent this happening.

“It is appalling to see Zimbabwean ministers behave like this when there is so much need in Zimbabwe and equally appalling that it seems like it is being facilitated here.”

Lord Oates said he would be asking the foreign office and treasury “what measures are there to ensure due diligence to prevent the United Kingdom laundering money from corrupt regimes.”

Duncan Hames, the director of Transparency International in the UK said: “If a foreign government minister spends at least £300,000 on a super car, that might warrant a Suspicious Activity Report to the National Crime Agency first.

“It sounds like this car sales business might need to register with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs for anti-money laundering supervision. They’ve been accepting Bitcoin since April.”

Wiwa: Our Ill Treatment As Chitungwiza Should Give Us Pride

Job Sikhala...
Job Sikhala...
Job Sikhala

By Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala, Zengeza West MP | We have been witnessing the Emmerson Mnangagwa regime’s ill treatment of Chitungwiza people of recent past that has been sealed by closing them totally out of Harare.

Covid 19 as a political weapon has been excessively applied against us, not withstanding that ZANU PF gatherings have been taking place on our sight. Recently, Mapositori where allowed to gather in their thousands without a problem and were allowed to pray despite other churches being banned from gathering in their numbers. I don’t have any problem with their gathering but am perturbed by glaring discrimination being displayed by the regime to create conflict among the people. We are more clever than that because that is exactly what the regime wants.

The regime does not love the Vapositori at all but use them for political expediency only. Understanding that, the people of Zimbabwe are no fools to play to the decoy of the regime deceit.

Pretending to be solving the Covid pandemic the regime, has advised the people of Chitungwiza not to set their foot in Harare and the CBD. The charade is purely political. Close them in their ghetto. Make them suffer and die of hunger. Continuously harass them. Get into Chitungwiza and close their businesses. Let them scream. I have personally seen several times people being harassed and tormented and have represented so many Chitungwiza businessmen and businesswomen in Court, in recent past whose crime is owning a business.

For the past 4 weeks along Seke Road, just after the St. Mary’s police Bridge both sides of the road motorists where harassed and forced to return home. Every morning up to midday a traffic jam stretching 10 kilometers was witnessed daily. From St. Mary’s police to Zuva Petroleum Service Station at Makoni. From St. Mary’s police to Chigovanyika. From St. Mary’s to Chitungwiza Municipality Headquarters. You would see anger in the people. Their question was always, what wrong have we committed to deserve this? You would see people shaking their heads in disbelief. They would always shout at me asking what wrong and sin have they committed to be punished like that?

Few days later an announcement is made that no one from Chitungwiza should be allowed into Harare. Chitungwiza is part of Harare Province. Chitungwiza does not have a city. It’s a Municipality. Dullards and dimwits from ZANU PF, waffled that because we have got our own Mayor, we are independent of Harare. They are not even aware of their regime’s pronouncement. The pronouncement is banning city to city. Not Municipality to Municipality. Chitungwiza is not a City. It does not have a city centre nor does it have a city status. Idiots from ZANU PF do not know that.

Chitungwiza is a mere dormitory town. It’s a cluster of houses and townships from Chigovanyika to Makoni. ZANU PF dullards define the small Town Centre which is an Old Mutual Shopping Mall to be a city center.

The regime must pronounce us to be an independent province so that we know and start to develop our own city from scratch. This nonsense of trying to discriminate ourselves as non Harareans is foolish and desperate. As long as we are in Harare Province we will contact our business in Harare as usual.

The silence by the people is not foolishness. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime is digging its own grave.

The people shall bury it in an unprecedented fashion.

South African Sangomas Predict Kaizer Chiefs Victory In Champions League Final

South African Sangomas have forecasted a Kaizer Chiefs win over Egyptian side Al Ahly in the African Champions League final in Morocco tonight.

According to Sangomas quoted by the Daily Sun, the match is going to be a tough one but Chiefs will prevail at the end.

Traditional healer Majoko Hlongwane said Chiefs will win 1-0 with the goal coming in the first 30 minutes of the match.

” The game will be tough but the South African team will make us proud by bringing the trophy home,” said Hlongwane.

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has challenged Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to restore civil servants’ dignity as a matter of urgency.

Writing on his official Facebook page, President Chamisa accused the Zanu PF regime of totally ignoring the plight frontline workers who are risking their lives to save the nation.

Frontline workers are risking their lives in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic…

President Chamisa also challenged the Zanu PF to address government workers’ grievances.

See statement below :

REVIEW FRONTLINE WORKERS’ SALARIES URGENTLY!!These patriots are putting their lives at risk during this pandemic only to receive peanuts as a salary.

Please use the surplus to restore the dignity of our frontline workers & civil service as a whole

A junior doctor earns approx $28,000 ZWL a month which is $207 @ real market rate.

This is inclusive of a COVID allowance of $70 USD risk allowance at paid bank rate = $6000ZWL.

This merits urgent fixing! Pay attention to what matters. #DECENTSALARIES

The catastrophic extent of it dawned on me last week when a young doctor who is my relative fell ill. It struck me as to what would have become of this young life.

My heart was taken to all the frontline workers who have families that look up to them for survival. #DECENTSALARIES!

Key Facts About COVID-19 Vaccines

South African’s Post Apatheird Socio-Political-Economic Crisis A Ticking Time Bomb, Reminiscent To The Zimbabwean Crisis

By Paddington Japajapa| The Socio-Economic and Political Problems besetting the Post Apartheid South Africa Government today are a Manifestation of deep sitted Anger, Bitterness,Unforgiveness,Envy,Covet,Hatred amongst the multi racial 48 million South African Population, which consists of around 45 million Indigenous Blacks, and mixed 5 million Whites,Coloureds and Indian races. On top of the 48 million South African Citizens there is an additional unplanned invasion by around 5 million illegal foreign Migrants whose number is increasing on a monthly basis who invade the Southern African Nation without notice. Most of these illegal immigrants have invaded the Southern African Nation illegally by means of Cross Boarder Jumping, through the porous multiple illegal entry points.Even the Crocodile infested Limpopo River that boarders the Southern African Country with Mozambique, Zimbabwe Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland has failed to act as a deterrent against those marouding foreign invaders.illegal Boarder Jumpers from SADC Countries like Zimbabwe, Mozambique,Zambia,Malawi, Tanzania and as far North as Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Kenya, DRC and Nigeria have all followed the Great trek to Suid Africa. Zimbabwe has the biggest Population of illegal immigrants in South Africa, because the two Countries share the same Boarder.

With an already huge around 48 million Indigenous Population of its own, plus the burden of around 5 million illegal immigrants from many African Countries, looking for employment and Business Opportunities, South Africa feels overburdened by its African Country Citizens. Poverty,Human Migration, unemployment and Human Rights abuses caused by Tyranic dictator Governments by many African leaders eg Zimbabwean Government lead by ED Mnangagwa,Mozambique,s Nyusi and Kenya,s Uhuru Kenyata,Somalia,s Warlords has caused the exodus of millions of illegal migrants down South, were employment and Business Opportunities are still available.

Due to the good Perfomance of the South African Economy many African Citizens find it paying off to risk their lives migrating into South Africa by illegal means to start Small Businesses and in search of employment. In turn the Indigenous South Africans Population feel threatened by the foreign invaders, accusing the foreigners of taking away their Jobs, Business space,Social Benefits, woman as wives etc.The South Africans especially the Zulu race have become Xenophobic, they have developed hatred for strangers whom they accuse of commiting crime in their Country and taking away their Jobs.In most cases it has been proven to be true that most criminal offenses committed in RSA eg Robberies,Rape,Car Jackings,Murder, Committed in South Africa are perpetrated by foreign Nationals, Zimbabweans and Mozambiqueans topping the list. Robbers from Zimbabwe and Mozambique are committing spate of weekly robberies both in RSA, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, this has been confirmed by the ZRP records on armed robberies and Carjackings between the three countries.

South African Citizens have formed some vigilante Groups to deal with the foreign threat, hence we saw heinous Xenophobic attacks on foreigners in the past,it was a way of chasing illegal and legal foreign Citizens out of RSA.It was reported that the previous Xenophobic attacks were sponsored by the RSA Government, that is why the SAPS couldn’t react swiftly to stop the heinous barbaric attacks on foreigners or arresting the perpetrators.

South Africa has got its own Political succession challenges which have been brewing over a long period. The boat is not stable at ANC as there are many devisions and different camps within the rulling African National Congress Party. It is a Struggle within a Struggle for Power at ANC,after Thabo Mbeki,s recall ochestrated by Julius Malema and others, came the Jacob Zuma ouster by Ramaphosa and Cabal, and now they are baying for Ramaphosa,s blood also, its a Dog eat Dog Situation.

South Africa must learn that we are African Brothers, whilst i personally do not accept or support the Xenonophobic attacks on foreign citizens, i also call upon African leaders who are Dictators to stop causing mass exodus of their poor citizens to the Southern African Country,Africa is burdening South Africa, in turn it gives birth to such things like huge unemployment figures, Xenophobic attacks and increased crime rate in that country.

It has been reported on SABC News that 182 people have been killed up to date in the recent South African violent riots, that lead to mass looting incidents, that have been caused by the 15 months incarceration of former South African President Jacob Zuma.Personally i feel that those incidents could have been avoided had President Cyril Ramaphosa Pardoned the frail and old Zuma immediately after he had handed himself into the hands of the Police and Prison Officers.Zuma had finally complied with the law,so there was need to Pardon him due to his advanced age.Police Minister Bhekhi Nxele showed the former President that nobody was above the law true, but look at the Quenciquencies now, billions of worth of Business destroyed,182 lives lost something that could have been avoided had a Presidential Pardon been granted. There is also a simmering racial war brewing amongst the Indians,Whites and Black People in South Africa, that has been ignited by the savage beatings and gunning down of black people who looted shops, by the heavily armed Indians and white Business owners. Most of the dead people in South Africa are suspected to have been killed by the Indians and White Business Owners, who were heard on Videos boasting of having killed keffars, and not the Police. The racial hatred amongst the multi racial South African Population shall take a long time time to heal as the black Population shall seek revenge.I would like to thank the South African Police and Army for exercising maximum restraint during the riots had it been in Zimbabwe, with the trigger happy Soldiers and Police, otherwise we will be talking of thousands killed by today.I personally saw a video of protesters stoning the Presidential Motorcade at close range and with many people milling around that place, had it been in Zimbabwe all the people who were around were that incident occurred, were going to be gunned down by the trigger happy Presidential Guard. We have got one of the most brutal Army Police,CIO,MID in the World here in Zimbabwe, who are not afraid of shooting at Civillians like what happened on 1 August 2018,and in November 2019 during post Election Protests and price increase riots.

From what is happening in RSA its most likely that the ANC might Split and Cyril Ramaposa is now a walking dead man,a new leader from the Party is going to rise and become a strong shadow President of the Party!!!! Ramaphosa is not new to blood shedding in RSA,he is one of the Directors of Marikhana Mine where many workers were shot dead by SAPS during riots for better working conditions.

Business People who have lost billions of dollars are going to successfully sue the Ramaphosa Adminstration for billions of rands, for loss of Business, assets and goods due to his Ramaphosa poor handling of the Zuma case.

Man Fined 5 Beasts For Bedding Son’s Wife

By A Correspondent- A man from Rushinga District, Mashonaland Central Province, has been fined five beasts by a traditional court for incest after he was caught red-handed between the sheets with his son’s wife.

Munashe Kahonde was caught by his son Peter Mafuta in the latter’s house in bed with his daughter-in-law.

Kahonde was brought to Headman Chipara’s Community Court after being caught committing adultery with his daughter-in-law in her matrimonial home.

Reports suggest that Kahonde was trapped after there was a suspicion about his marital affair with his daughter-in-law.

H-Metro was told that Kahonde, a nurse aid at Chimandau Clinic, hid under Mafuta’s bed for the night when Mafuta came back home.

Said Mafuta:

The day Kahonde fell into a snare, he was betrayed by his shoes that were found at the corner inside the bedroom.

My wife refused to admit but I rummaged the bedroom until I found him in stealth under the bed.

Kahonde received a tongue-lashing from Headman Chipara who said the man’s conduct was against social customs, values and ethos.

This was actually Kahonde’s second time to be dragged to his Court with such type of cases, the headman revealed.

Kahonde had already lost more than seven beasts within a year paying victims of his adultery cases.

Headman Chipara ordered him to pay five beasts – three for Mafuta and two for traditional authority for the incest case.

ED Ally Tagwirei Donates Over $5k Million To Govt

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ally, Kudakwashe Tagwirei’s Sakunda Holdings yesterday donated US$5,5 million in cash and equipment to government to help improve people’s livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tagwirei also donated $170 million for purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

Presenting the donation to Mnangagwa at State House in Harare, the Sakunda proprietor said the donation would cover various sectors including tuition fees for university students.

“Sakunda Holdings acknowledges commitment by the government to positively impact the livelihoods of the people of our great nation Zimbabwe,” Tagwirei said.

“Sakunda has noticed the effects of COVID-19 on the well-being of Zimbabweans among them, the following: some parents have lost their ability to pay university tuition fees for their children; our health care system is inundated with a huge number of COVID-19 patients; increase in number of citizens who now require urgent COVID-19 vaccination and compromised livelihoods of the people, especially young people.

“Sakunda is also donating six truckloads of assorted medical consumables which include injections, airway management, products, wound care products, among others for rural hospital worth $91 million.” The fuel magnate also donated five double-cab trucks and fuel for the police homicide department in addition to $30 million for purchase of specialised equipment to enhance its operations.

“As a company, we are further handing over 500 heifers and 25 bulls to His Excellency the President, ED Mnangagwa to support heifers’ projects for the youths,” he said.

Mnangagwa urged other private companies to emulate the firm.

Apart from Sakunda, Beitbridge contractors donated US$500 000, while CBZ Bank chipped in with US$250 000.

ZB Bank, property mogul Ken Sharpe and Insurance Council of Zimbabwe each weighed in with US$50 000, while another gold dealer Pedzisayi “Scott” Sakupwanya donated US$100 000.

Tagwirei, who is on the United States sanctions, has also in the past refurbished public hospitals, such as United Bulawayo Hospitals, Parirenyatwa and Mpilo, among others, for use during the COVID-19 pandemic, apart from availing his 30-bed Arundel Hospital for use by government.

He has often been accused of accessing government tenders under controversial circumstances.

Tendai Biti’s Trial In False Start

By A Correspondent- The trial of MDC-Alliance vice president Tendai Biti on allegations of manhandling a Russian national during an altercation outside Harare Magistrates Court hit another brick wall yesterday after his lawyer claimed that his client was self-isolating after getting into contact with a Covid-19 positive person.

Mr Alec Muchadehama tendered to the court a letter from certain lawyers which claimed that indeed Biti had met a person who later tested positive to Covid-19.

The lawyer told Harare magistrate Mrs Vongai Guwuriro-Muchuchuti that Biti was within the court premises in the car park but could not be in court since he was self-isolating.

Senior prosecutor Mr Micheal Reza, who is prosecuting the matter together with Mr Tafara Chirambira, applied for a warrant of arrest against Biti arguing that he was supposed to appear in court since he was warned to do so.

“We do not know whether the accused tested positive to Covid-19 or not. A letter from lawyers cannot be a substitute of Covid-19 results,” he said. Mr Reza’s application prompted Mr Muchadehama to ask for a brief adjournment in order to bring Biti in court.

When the court resumed, Biti went into the dock and the matter was then remanded to July 28 for trial. Biti recently had his application for the recusal of Mr Reza dismissed because of lack of merit.

In her ruling, Mrs Guwuriro said the court was not convinced that Mr Reza was likely to affect fairness in the trial.

“The defence provided nothing before the court which proved that Mr Reza was likely to prosecute unfairly in this trial,” she said.

She further ruled that the defence did not provide reasonable grounds why Mr Reza should be recused from the matter. It is the State’s case that Ms Tatiana Aleshina was allegedly insulted and assaulted by Biti outside the courtroom but within the complex premises.

Ms Aleshina filed a report with the police and has also lodged two further complaints with the Law Society of Zimbabwe. Ms Aleshina wants Biti investigated for alleged gross unprofessional conduct and alleges she and her workmates were intimidated and verbally abused outside the court each time they came for proceedings.

Ms Aleshina is one of the witnesses in case involving building contractor George Katsimberis who is alleged to have defrauded a land developer with whom he had entered into a joint venture to build cluster houses in Harare’s Borrowdale suburb. In the matter, Katsimberis is accused of using plans that were not approved by council which led to the show house being demolished.

Ms Aleshina is the chief operating officer of the land developer. She claims that on November 30 last year as she was about to leave the court gallery after a court session, Biti allegedly threatened to harm her.

“It was clear to all people who were in the court gallery that Biti took delight not only in verbally abusing me, but in trying to intimidate me and felt that, as a woman and foreigner of Russian origin, he would use every extra judicial means to crush me or harm or destroy me for daring to be a witness in the criminal matter against his client,” she stated in her complaint.

“Make Public Nature Of Govt Deals”: Muzamhindo

By Tinashe Eric Muzamhindo- We have so many deals, apparently, which Government of Zimbabwe, has signed with several countries, we have been briefed of MOUs, signed on behalf of the country, which have never been disclosed to the public.

One of the key roles of the State, is to ensure that the public, or citizenry, has adequate information regarding Governance and leadership. We have Belarus – Zupco bus deal, we were only told that more than 671 buses, are on their way to Zimbabwe, and the nature of the deal was never disclosed to the public.

But why President and, and the whole team? What is Belarusians , getting from the Zimbabwe deal in exchange of buses? We may find ourselves mortgaging our country to foreigners in the next fifty years, if we are not careful, and by that time,

Mnangagwa and the whole team, won’t be there to explain to the nation, on what exactly happened on these deals. We need a transparent Government, which must discharge it’s duties diligently, by ensuring all Government deals must be disclosed to the public.

What I find more interesting, on this one, is headlines, you won’t even find a single paragraph describing the economic implications on the nature of the deals. To some extent, it is rumoured that Fossils Agro, was involved in the transaction of the deal.

Fossils and Sakunda, are getting over 140 000, profit from a single bus, and this is completely public theft of national assets or coffers.

Who was involved in the signing of the deals? From my own assumption, I thought, Economists, Lawyers, Academics, Researchers, and other key people were supposed to be involved, and after satisfactory, the nature of the deal was supposed to be made public. Infact, all deals must pass through Parliament for regulatory and legislative agenda.

The role of Parliament is for approval, and allowing the public to have scrutiny, on such deals before any approval. To my surprise, these deals are done in the background of our nation.

WHO IS BEHIND ALL THESE DEALS? what is the role of the State Procurement Board ( SPB), is it still functional? Do we still have an SPB in place? We can’t have few political elite, continuing to enrich themselves, at the expense of the whole nation.

Recently, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, popularly known as KT, was reportedly having over 50 companies, which were registered under different names and hoaxes, and as a result, the same individual makes Central Bank’ s role and other financial institutions Moe difficult, given the context that, he is already controlling all sectors of the economy.

Do we still have a central bank to talk about? Do we still have a State Procurement Board, to talk about? Do we still have a Parliament to talk about?

Zimbabwe Institute of Strategic Thinking – ZIST recommends the following :

1. Nature of Government deals must be made public

2. Citizen’s perspective is critical for all National deals

3. The role of State Procurement Board ( SPB), must be strengthened

4. All individuals involved in public deals must be exposed, for public scrutiny

5. Tender procedures and systems must be transparent and made public

6. National cake must be shared equally

7. Opposition parties must play their role to ensure that they provide checks and balances to the Government of the day

8. We need proper investigation and research in all public deals

9. The role of Private sector is key in ensuring accountability plays a key role to these public deals

10. Declaration of wealth, must begin right from the President , Cabinet Ministers, and all Government officials, to ascertain accountability & transparency

Conclusion

1. What happens to those who have shortchanged the country, in shady deals?

2. Who is behind all these shady deals, since the inception of the new dispensation?

3. What is left for our children, and families, with this level of looting in our country?

4. Can an individual be an Advisor to the President, at the same time, business partner, and at the same time, a beneficiary of Government deals? Is this possible in any country set up?

5. Do we have a timeframe for looting, or it will be looting throughout? Till we have an empty country?

We need a proper Economic & Development Research on all our transactions and public deals, before any awarding of national tenders or contracts.

What is the position of our National & domestic debt? At one point, the Finance Minister, reportedly told a news conference, that our foreign debt stands at 18 billion. How do we arrive at such figures, without any explanation?

The next thing, the same people are building huge mansions around Brook, Greystone park, Philadelphia etc. Any explanation towards the national debt? I thought the public was supposed to be cushioned with proper Research information, on how and why we arrived at such figures.

Nobody knows, how much our foreign and domestic debt stands at? The farm mechanization project or debt, was recently attached to RBZ, and later on National debt.

The debt stands at 1.2 billion United States Dollars, and the public in general never benefitted from such a deal.

We have the Brazilian deal, which involved the former first lady, Grace Mugabe, she got away, and now it is the whole nation, which must foot the bill.

On top of that, the same individual, in her capacity as the former first lady, she is receiving her husband’s benefits, and package, after all their deals were attached to the central bank. Do we have sanctions, in this country, or we have sanctioned ourselves to poverty ?

New Twist To Chief Justice Luke Malaba’s Case

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum executive director Musa Kika yesterday snubbed a Constitutional Court hearing which sought to reverse a High Court order dismissing the extension of Chief Justice Luke Malaba’s term of office.

Kika said he fears that the conflicted judges will not deliver a fair verdict.

Three High Court judges, justices Happias Zhou, Edith Mushore and Jesta Charehwa ruled in May that Malaba ceased being a Chief Justice when he reached the retirement age of 70.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa extended the top judge’s term using controversial constitutional amendments that raised the retirement age for judges to 75.

Zanu-PF activist Marx Mupungu, represented by Lovemore Madhuku, filed a ConCourt challenge against the High Court ruling which was heard yesterday, with the judges indefinitely reserving judgment.

On Wednesday, the ConCourt bench led by Deputy Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwanza dismissed Kika’s application for recusal of the judges. After the judges refused to recuse themselves, Kika stopped filing opposing papers saying it was a forgone issue that conflicted judges would not deliver a fair outcome.

Kika’s lawyers said they decided to confine their case to the preliminary point of recusal because they felt strongly that it was irregular for the court to sit over its own matter.

“Constitutional Court sat to determine the case brought by Marx Mupungu against Musa Kika and Young Lawyers Association of Zimbabwe (YLAZ),” Kika’s lawyer Noble Chinanhu said after the hearing.

Only lawyers representing the YLAZ and war veteran Frederick Charles Moses Mutandah, who were part of the respondents in Mupungu’s case, appeared for the ConCourt hearing.

YLAZ asked the court to dismiss the case arguing that Mupungu had no locus standi to file an application to challenge the validity of the ruling by the three High Court judges.

The young lawyers, represented by Andreas Dracos, argued that Mupungu was not part of the proceedings in the High Court case, hence did not have the capacity to sue in relation to that matter.

But Madhuku defended Mupungu’s right to file for the application, stating that just like any other citizen, he had an interest in the matter.

Mupungu argued in the ConCourt application that Mnangagwa acted within the law in extending Malaba’s term.

Lawyer Tawanda Zhuwara, appointed as the amicus curiae, said YLAZ and Kika did not seek leave to sue High Court judges as stipulated under Order 3 Rule 18 of the High Court.

But Dracos said the application to challenge Malaba’s extended tenure was urgent, based on Section 85 of the Constitution.

Soldier Found In Possession With A Snake Hauled To Court

By A Correspondent- A Kwekwe man who was found in possession of a snake in his vehicle, bringing business to a standstill in the city centre on Tuesday, has denied any connection to the reptile.

Tatenda Mutema (31), handed himself to the police after the snake, which had attracted the attention of hordes of people, was successfully retrieved from his Toyota Wish by rangers from the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority (Zimparks).

He was charged for possession of a python which is a protected species.

The Chronicle news crew caught up with Mutema soon after his court case failed to take off and he narrated what transpired.

Mutema, a soldier based at 5 Infantry Brigade just outside Kwekwe, said the owner of the vehicle owns a plot near the army barracks.

“I do not even know the name of the owner of the car to be honest. I met him one day when I was on my way to Kwekwe from the barracks.

He asked me if I had a driver’s licence which I produced and he gave me the vehicle to drive,” narrated Mutema.

He said on the following day, the owner of the vehicle asked him to drive him to Bulawayo.

“I drove him to Bulawayo together with two other women. Upon arrival, he and the ladies hopped into a brand-new Honda Fit Hybrid. He then asked me to drive back to Kwekwe as he said he was on his way to South Africa,” said Mutema.

He said the vehicle owner told him not to use the money he collected from passengers but to take it to his family at the farm.

“I then went to the farm where I left some cash and drove away. On my way from the farm, I gave another man a lift whom I asked what exactly the owner of the vehicle did in life because I had seen brand new cars at his farm and was shocked. The man told me all he knew was that the man was a sangoma,” he said.

Mutema said he never took it seriously and went about with his business.

Disaster struck when Mutema picked up a female friend and decided to use some money he had collected to buy the friend lunch.

“I took a US$10 note to buy lunch. Upon returning I opened the door and was shocked to see part of the dashboard broken. When I checked at the back seat I noticed a huge snake and quickly grabbed the girl and locked the car,” he said.

The rest is history as hordes of people thronged the car in a bid to see the reptile.

“I did not run away, I was there when the rangers removed the snake. I was still in a state of shock and I feared the people’s response,” he said .

Rangers from Zimparks said there was nothing sinister about the snake.

Zim Bus Intercepted With Border Jumpers, Smuggled Goods

By A Correspondent- South African police have intercepted a Zimbabwean bus transporting nine border jumpers and an assortment of smuggled goods worth R175 800 as they clamp down on smuggling.

The Johannesburg-bound bus was busted on Thursday in Polokwane during routine police patrols.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the Zimbabwean bus driver had been arrested along with the undocumented migrants.

He said the bus had since been impounded while the goods were seized pending further investigations.

“The bus was intercepted by police officers attached to Polokwane International Airport on Thursday,” said Brig Mojapelo.

“It was transporting undocumented foreign nationals and undeclared goods in the form of alcohol and travelling along the N1 north on the outskirts of Polokwane City.

“The (SAPS) members were on routine duties along the N1 road next to the South African Breweries when they stopped a bus with a trailer”.

South African police seized smuggled goods on a Zimbabwean bus in Polokwane recently

He said the nine border jumpers were arrested for contravening sections of the Immigration Act as they failed to produce valid travel documents.

Brig Mojapelo said a further search of the bus led to the discovery of Chibuku Super loaded in its trailer.

The goods were valued at R175 800.

“A 31-year-old driver, who is also a foreign national was immediately arrested. Preliminary police investigations revealed that the alcohol and the undocumented foreign nationals were being transported to Johannesburg, Gauteng Province,” he said.

He said the goods and the bus were taken back to Beitbridge Border Post for further management.

Cases of contravention of regulations under the Disaster Management Act and Immigration Act have since been opened.

The incident comes a few days after security authorities in South Africa intercepted smugglers with cigarettes worth R12 million on three different occasions.

On Friday last week, a contraband of cigarettes worth R3 million was seized by the police at Beitbridge Border Post while being smuggled in a bus travelling from Zimbabwe.

Two days earlier, South Africa’s National Defence Force soldiers had busted smugglers with another contraband worth R2 million in the Madimbo area which is adjacent to Tshikwalakwala some 140km east of the Beitbridge Border Post.

Soldiers Rob Chinese National, Get Away With US$85 000

By A Correspondent- A gang of armed robbers which included soldiers have robbed a local Chinese national and got away with cash and valuables worth US$85,000.
.
While some of the suspects are still at large, one particular one was not so lucky after leaving digital footprints – detectives traced his cell phone number to the crime scene through Global Positioning System (GPS).
Not only that: the whole thing was captured on CCTV.

Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer Chamunorwa Genge of Two Brigade appeared in court Thursday facing accusations of armed robbery.
The 26-year-old was remanded in custody to July 30, by Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga. He was not asked to plead.
Prosecutors said Genge and 11 accomplices targeted their victim at the University of Zimbabwe farm on June 15 armed with pistols, iron bars, and machetes.
The other suspects include fellow soldier Zvidozvashe Dzuda, Godfrey Josi, Themba Mugabe, Bruce Muparadzi, Richard Mutanga, Benjamin Musasa, Ephraim Jack Alphas, Valentine Mutasa, Mambo Dhuterere, and Lazurus Chinobhururuka as well as Peter Mushipe, who are still on the loose.
The court heard that the alleged bandits manhandled the security guard Christopher Chivhanga demanding to see the farm director and force-marched him to the complainant’s residence where they seized US$60,000 cash and US$25,000 worth of valuables.

JUST IN: Obert Gutu In Trouble

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) is seeking a declaratory order in the High Court that the National Peace and Reconciliation (NPRC) Commissioner, Advocate Obert Gutu has ceased being a commissioner.

Chinese National Loses US$85 000 To Soldiers In A Robbery Case

By A Correspondent- A Chinese national has lost cash and valuables worth US$85,000, to a gang of robbers which included soldiers.

Rusape Man Burns To Death Wife’s Lover

By A Correspondent- A Rusape man is on the run after he burnt to death his wife’s lover to Death.

Chitangarwe fled and is on the run,” said Inspector Chananda.
He urged members of the public to resolve their disputes amicably.
“We appeal to people to solve their disputes amicably and desist from using violence.
“Those facing marital problems should seek counselling from trusted friends, close relatives and pastors. Human life must not be lost through avoidable situations,” said Inspector Chananda.

Government Unleashes Police On Chitungwiza, Norton Residents

By A Correspondent- The government has said it will increase police checkpoints along Chitungwiza and Norton roads to ensure that residents travelling from these towns to Harare are those who fall under the essential services category.

This was said by the Permanent Secretary for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana when he was explaining the definition of the intercity travel ban.

“Government has noted with concern that in spite of the ban on intercity travel, some people are still travelling between cities for various non-essential reasons. This has resulted in a worrying surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

“The public is reminded that under the extended Level 4 lockdown announced by His Excellency, President Mnangagwa on July 13, 2021, intercity travel is prohibited.

“Statutory Instrument 198 of 2021 defines intercity travel as travel between any cities or between municipalities or towns established or deemed to have been established in terms of the Urban Councils Act. (But) it does not include travel ‘between an area under the jurisdiction of a local board and a city, municipality or town that is within the same council area as the local board’.
“As an example, movement between Chitungwiza and Harare or Norton and Harare is considered intercity travel and therefore prohibited,” said Mr Mangwana.
“Accordingly, law enforcement agents will be ensuring that intercity travel will only be permitted for those providing an essential service or travelling for a humanitarian reason such as seeking medical treatment.
“Proof of provision of essential service may be requested at police checkpoints.
“Regarding intra-city travel (movement within a city), members of the public are urged to only leave their homes if they are going to provide an essential service, going to businesses permitted to operate under Level 4, or seeking food or medication within a 5km radius.
“Measures including but not limited to police checkpoints, will be intensified to ensure that members of the public comply with the measures.”

Insp Mahoko said that Ncube and the four alleged men were at the Chimona Milling plant when they had a misunderstanding.
He said the four men were allegedly accusing Ncube of stealing some gold ore.
“It is alleged that four men, Andile Mpofu, Vusa Mpofu, Nhoro Bhebhe and Timothy met the complainant Michael Ncube at Chimona Milling Plant where they had a misunderstanding over some missing gold ore.”
“Andile Mpofu then struck Ncube once on the head and on the face with an axe. The other suspects joined in assaulting Ncube with all over the body before they fled away,” said Insp Mahoko.

Prosecutor Who Called Harare Magistrate ‘Very Stupid’ Wants Biti Convicted For Calling A Russian Woman ‘Stupid’

Malaba’s Future In Limbo

By A Correspondent- The future of the disgruntled former Chief Justice Luke Malaba is hanging in the air after the Constitutional Court yesterday heard the arguments for nullifying him and reserved the judgment.

Marx Mupungu of Bulawayo wants the court to overturn the lower court judgment which he argued impugned the conduct of the President and Parliament for exercising their constitutional mandate with the second amendment to the Constitution giving judges the option of extending their term, if medically fit, for another five years after the set retirement age of 70.
Chief Justice Malaba exercised that right, but the High Court said the amendment was not valid for sitting Supreme Court and Constitutional Court judges.
Although an appeal was noted in the Supreme Court, it has not been heard yet and in any case could have been subjected to a further appeal to the Constitutional Court for a final decision by the losing party in the appeal.
This week, Mr Mupungu sought to use another section of the Constitution that states that the Constitutional Court must approve any constitutional decision made by a lower court to get the matter directly into the top court.
The Constitutional Court unanimously agreed that it had the right and duty to hear the application.
The full bench of the Constitutional Court, with only Chief Justice Malaba himself absent as he is at the centre of the legal row and so Deputy Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza presided, heard Advocate Lewis Ururi state that Mr Mupungu, his client, was seeking an order declaring the two orders of the High Court to be orders of “constitutional invalidity”.
The two orders by the three judges of the High Court declared that Justice Malaba ceased to hold the office of Chief Justice and judge on May 15, 2021, by operation of law and that notwithstanding the provisions of section 186 of the Constitution, the Deputy Chief Justice and judges of the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court who were in office as at May 7, 2021, did not have an option to extend their terms to the age of 75 years. Adv Uriri moved the court to refuse to confirm these two orders of the lower court.
Adv Uriri told the court that the High Court, as a matter of substance, declared constitutionally invalid the conduct of the President recorded in a letter dated May 11, 2021, to Chief Justice Malaba and which conduct gave validity to the continuation in office of the Justice Malaba as Chief justice.
Adv Uriri was referring to the fact that once a judge has elected to continue beyond the age of 70 and presented a valid medical certificate, the President was then obliged to confirm that the judge would continue in office for another five years.
“Put differently, the High Court, in substance, said the conduct of the President, by operation of law, was invalid,” he said.
The High Court had interpreted section 328 (7) of the Constitution, which deals with amendments over term limits, to refer to the retirement ages of judges and it is this interpretation that equates an age limit with a term limit that is at the centre of the legal argument.
Adv Uriri noted that applying the High Court’s order that judges of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts could not sit once they reached 70 in effect nullified section 186(4) of the Constitution which allows a judge who does reach retirement age to at least continue hearing the cases before they reached that age until the cases are concluded.
Looking at whether the Constitutional Court had the right to reject a lower court judgment in the sort of application made by Mr Mupungu, as the relevant section talks about the right of an interested party to seek to have the order confirmed or varied, Adv Uriri argued that it did.
An application under the Constitution for the Constitutional Court to confirm or vary an order on a constitutional matter by a lower court necessarily included the option not to confirm the order, he argued, and so a finding that the two orders of the High Court were orders of “constitutional invalidity” had to lead to their setting aside.
On the question over whether Mr Mupungu had the necessary legal standing to bring the application, Professor Lovemore Madhuku told the court that every citizen had an automatic right to bring a constitutional matter to the court in the interests of justice.
The particular section talks about persons with sufficient interest.
“What has been brought before the court is a constitutional matter. The applicant (Mupungu) qualifies as ‘any person with a sufficient interest’. Every citizen seeking to uphold the Constitution automatically has a ‘sufficient interest’ for purposes of section 175 (3) of the Constitution.”
Mr Andrea Dracos who acted for the Young Lawyers Association of Zimbabwe and war veteran Mr Feredrick Mutanda opposed the application, in the case in which the mastermind in the original case to remove the Chief Justice from office, Mr Kika Musa, threw in the towel.
He argued that Mr Mupungu did not have a legal standing to bring such an application as he was not a person with “sufficient interest” in the legal sense as he was not a party in the original High Court case.
On the point that his clients were supposed to have sought to sue the judges, Mr Dracos argued that there was no need to do so because the application was one in terms of the constitutional provisions for enforcing fundamental rights.
“Once there is an allegation of violation of fundamental rights there is no need for leave,” he said.
He then argued on the merits of the matter, the interpretation the High Court had made on term limits, saying it was sound in law because it was in accordance with the spirit and scheme of the Constitution hence it must accordingly be confirmed.
Appearing as a friend of the court, Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara argued that the original application to the High Court was itself invalid under the law and should not have been heard until other preliminaries had been done and approved.
He said under the Constitution no lower court could issue an order concerning the constitutional invalidity of any law or any conduct of the President or Parliament, unless such order is probed and confirmed by the Constitutional Court
“It is only through confirmation proceedings that this court is able to ensure that constitutional adjudication in the lower courts remains rational and congruent with our constitutional norms,” he said.
Before valid proceedings could be seen in the High Court it was imperative that a separate application be instituted beforehand to obtain leave to sue the Chief Justice and the Deputy Chief Justice.
“It is this sojourn beyond the realms of law that renders the proceedings before the court a quo stillborn and susceptible to summary negation by this court,” he said.
“Clearly no valid proceedings ever came into being before the High Court and for that reason this court, employing its supervisory review powers, should vary the declaratory order by setting aside the anomalous proceedings.”
After hearing submissions from all the parties Deputy Chief Justice Gwaunza said the court would reserve judgment to a later date.

Mnangagwa Locks-Down Chitungwiza, Norton

By A Correspondent- The government has said that Chitungwiza and Norton residents will only be allowed to travel into Harare City if they can show they are providing an essential service or for humanitarian reasons since the inter-city travel ban now includes all travel between any urban authorities.

A strict definition of the term “intercity travel” was gazetted by Government yesterday as part of the health lockdown regulations.
In a statement last night explaining the implications of the new definition, Permanent Secretary for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana said the precise definition of intercity travel now banned access to Harare by residents of the dormitory towns of Chitungwiza and Norton.
“Government has noted with concern that in spite of the ban on intercity travel, some people are still travelling between cities for various non-essential reasons. This has resulted in a worrying surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

Luke-ing the Beast in the Eye: Extreme Desperation (ED) : desperate habits and the new vocabulary of desperation

Friday, 16 July 2021

By Luke Tamborinyoka

Introduction

Spawned by a coup in November 2017, the Emmerson Mnangagwa dispensation has left its own murderous footprints on the sands of history. State sanctioned murders, repression, gross human rights violations and unmitigated corruption have been the hallmark of this regime that yet again pilfered its way into office in July 2018. By dint of a sheer incompetence that has massively expanded the informality of an already highly informal sector—in the process dimming the future prospects of a doomed young generation—the Mnangagwa regime has equally spawned new habits and a new lingo, nay a new vocabulary that is testament to the fact that as a nation, we have now hit the flotsam at rock-bottom.

This week’s instalment seeks to showcase the lingo and language perspective of our crisis by giving a glimpse of the new and strange vocabulary that has now been added to the country ‘s dictionary in today’s colloquial enterprise. Most of the words are used mostly by the young generation and they depict the desperation and parlous life of ordinary Zimbabweans. Indeed, the new lingo is the window to our tenuous national moment of penury and deprivation. In this respect, even Dambudzo, the Shona word for that which causes pain and suffering becomes more than just the name of Zimbabwe’s illegitimate President. Dambudzo becomes a befitting leadership backdrop to our collective trying moment. Dambudzo becomes the graphic thematic soundtrack to the wide array of the new vocabulary in these desperate times.

Dambudzo is the Shona word for that which causes suffering and given our moment, it becomes an apt name. Dambudzo the person and dambudzo the dispensation.

The massive unemployment that now stands in excess of 90 percent and the highly in formalised economy have not only bred untold suffering and a desperate generation but has equally spawned a new vocabulary that only a competently incompetent regime could muster. Indeed, this week we take a peek at the new words and the new habits that are synonymous with our times, the new lingo that has been engendered by our current extreme desperation (ED).

1 . Hustling (kungwavhangwavha)

Hustling generally refers to the dictum of Anything goes for a living . In this our highly informal economy, citizens have resorted to desperate measures to eke out a living. As a word and as a vocation, hustling was rarely used in Zimbabwe’s colloquial discourse but under Mnangagwa, the word has become a label of pride. Hustling has almost become a tag of honour and it makes one smile for them to be labelled “the ultimate hustler.” Hustler refers to one who has sufficiently mustered the art of survival in this kiya kiya economy, itself yet another word that was added to the county’s milieu of expressions under deposed President Robert Mugabe. But as I said last week, Emmerson Mnangagwa is a Robert Mugabe on steroids. While kiya kiya under Mugabe referred to the rudimentary bustling that ordinary Zimbabweans resorted to for a living, our Emmerson has expanded the informal sector into a vast labyrinth of murky deals and kiya kiya as a reference to informal activities has proved to be grossly inadequate to describe the enterprises that ordinary Zimbabweans now do for a living. Mnangagwa has introduced a new variant of kiya kiya which Zimbabweans now refer to as kungwavha ngwavha . This has become the ultimate form of hustling under the Mnangagwa regime. Some Zimbabweans have cheekily defined kungwavha as a literal reference to a toxic mixture of thievery (humbavha) and astuteness (kungwara) . Shona speakers have even invented a mathematical formula for the word viz kungwara (astuteness) + humbavha(thievery) = kungwavha (hustling).

Hustling or kungwavha ngwavha has thus been added to the new vocabulary in the country. Whereas in the old days one would proudly proclaim they were teachers, nurses, doctors or engineers upon being asked their profession, some now proudly refer to themselves simply as hustlers.

Hustling or kungwavha ngwavha _has become the term and label of choice under the current Dispensation. Only last week, when I asked my aunt where her son was and what he was now doing for a living, she smiled at me and responded to my question with an air of pride: ” Mzukuru wako ari kuBudiriro uko kwaari kungwavhangwavha ” (Your nephew is in Budiriro where he is hustling for a living).

I simply nodded and smiled back. She knew I had heard and sufficiently understood her. That’s how the new vocabulary of desperation engendered by this incompetent regime has etched its place in everyday national discourse.

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new Dispensation!

2 . Bond , RTGS and Svikiro

The new Dispensation has hit the depths of incompetence and we now refer to our currency in very strange terms. The advent of the bond note has meant that bond no longer means “tie”. Bond has assumed a new meaning and the word now refers to our worthless currency whose value is only assumed.

Students of commerce will tell you that Real Time Gross Transfer (RTGS) is a form of payment for goods and services and that it can never be a currency. Yet in this our beloved nation, RTGS is a form of currency!

With the advent of a new 50 bond note denomination last week, which note bears the picture of iconic spirit medium Nehanda Nyakasikana, yet another name has now been given to refer to that specific denomination. A spirit medium is called a svikiro in Shona and the new 50 bond note is now commonly referred to as a svikiro. Two 50-bond notes are now referred to as 2 masvikiro.

And one certainly does not need a spirit medium to tell them that that 200 bond is now referred to as 4 masvikiro .

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new dispensation and its attendant new lingo!

3 . Kambwa , Mutoriro

Under Mnangagwa, there has been a revolution in the drinking and illicit liquor industry. As the economy bites and as ordinary Zimbabweans struggle to afford conventional beer, cheaper but repugnant alternatives have sprung up and one such “beer” or illicit substance is called Kambwa (puppy).

I used to drink but some nine or so years ago I kicked the habit. I am now a Christian and have since lost track of developments and the goings-on in the beer and alcohol industry. I don’t quite know how this type of alcohol acquired its name but I am told kambwa or kutu refers to a very strong alcoholic substance taken undiluted and it takes only minutes to knock out even the most determined imbiber . The Shona ideophone for taking a single gulp is kutu One theory goes that since the illicit substance is often taken in a single gulp (kutu) and since kutu also refers to a puppy, the illicit beer is now called kambwa or kutu in jest. I am told kambwa will get one utterly sloshed. An addiction to this highly illicit substance could probably lead one to living a wretched dog’s life!

In my drinking days, one would patronise a bar and it would take the whole day for them to get utterly drunk. I am told the new variants on the market, especially kambwa, can get one drunk in five minutes or less. It is no longer surprising, so I am told, for children going to school in the morning to find their fathers sloshed on their way to their learning institutions, despite the same fathers having left home only twenty or so minutes earlier to procure their illicit doses at the various non-conventional outlets that sell these dangerous drugs and substances. Not so long ago, there was only _kachasu_as the known illicit brew but it appears more illicit drugs and substances have crowded the market.

It is only in the old days that power bulbs and “globes” were for lighting in the home. The youths of today use the same bulbs to extract and to concoct a dangerous drug called mutoriro from the powder contained therein. Mutoriro is new lingo that refers to the illicit substance made from bulb residue. That bulbs could be a source of alcohol speaks Zimbabwe’s tenuous political and economic moment as well as the desperation of today’s young people. Our youths have become a doomed generation and anyone you meet with a bagful of bulbs could be on an equally doomed mission to harm themselves under the false presumption that they are “lighting up” their brain using these dangerous substances. Surely, since when did a bulb become a form of alcohol?

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new dispensation!

I am told even diapers or pampers, particularly used ones, have become a source of alcohol or yet another illicit drug. They reportedly soak the diapers, used or unused, rinse them and then take the slimy water that drips out, which water they then use to make the beer or the substance, whatever nomenclature they prefer to use. Thanks to the desperation spawned by this purported new dispensation, the nearest shop that sells baby apparel has in fact become a bar of sorts. Shops that sell baby wear, particularly diapers, have inadvertently become “bars” or alcohol outlets of a special nature. A man with a bagful of diapers is not necessarily a responsible father going home to celebrate a new bouncing baby boy. He may actually be a drunkard carrying home his unique “crate” of “alcohol “!

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new dispensation, its new drinking choices and habits that it has occasioned in the country.

Under the current lockdown restrictions, it is ironic that this regime may presume itself to have ordered the closure of bars and beer outlets while baby wear shops and electrical hardware shops remain open. Bars are no longer conventional and since light bulbs, diapers and baby pampers have become the special outlets for today’s alcohol , it means alcohol outlets have assumed a new but interesting dimension.

The only jobs created by Mnangagwa were for his Karanga tribesmen and tribeswomen as well as his fronts in corruption games such as Kuda Tagwireyi. Meanwhile, millions of the jobless youths of this country who are desperate for jobs spend endless idle hours on the culverts partaking to mutoriro and coining a litany of new vocabulary.

The new lingo now in currency include flex which means OK, uri_ shiri / uri hwai_ (you are a bird/sheep) which means you are a dimwit and huya kucoffin_(come to the coffin) which means come to my inbox. Zvakadhakwa means things are not OK. When you hear this idle generation, most of who have taken to these illicit and dangerous substances shouting aya masports asiri eazy_ (these are difficult sports), all they are trying to say is that this is an onerous task or a vexing enterprise.

Welcome to the new Dispensation, its unconventional bars, its unique habits and the freshly-minted lingo by the multitudes that constitute our idle and jobless generation.

4 . Stability and budget surplus

Amid this monumental crisis, the Mnangagwa regime, through Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, has claimed the country’s economy is stable and that the country has had a budget surplus. Never mind that civil servants are grossly underpaid, the health sector has been in the intensive care unit for the past four years and that the Chiredzi Residents Trust has had to mobilise residents to raise funds to repair a police vehicle, the regime continues to claim a budget surplus and that the economy is on the mend.

Surplus, growth and stability must certainly have a different meaning to this inept lot in government. Its their own unique vocabulary for a completely different situation on the ground. A country with an external debt that has ballooned to US$16 billon and whose hospitals have no bandages and painkillers is telling us it has had a budget surplus? Unless surplus has assumed a new meaning. Otherwise this has become a Dispensation of perfidy and nude lies. If chronic liars were to be conferred with a Knighthood, Mnangagwa and Mthuli Ncube would have acquired the grand title of “Sir Plus” due to their surplus lies that have set quite a global lying record!

Bravo to the regime for giving a new meaning to these English words. Welcome to our new Dispensation.

5 Prophet

The word prophet now means something completely different and remotely connected to the Christian religious faith. Prophecy has become an informal and sector of kungwavhangwavha. The title Prophet now refers not to seers but to a new breed of besuited, rich and clean-shaven conmen who wear designer labels and whose main line of economic enterprise is swindling the dumb and the innocent. Regime apologists and regime ambassadors and frontmen such as Passion Java and Uebert Angels are part of this gothic lot of gospelpreneurs who purport to be fronting God when they are simply conmen and crooks. Under Mnangagwa, the word prophet has become nothing more than a political survivalist vocation that uses a holy name. Most of these so-called prophets have conveniently sought cover in the kleptpcratic regime that is equally replete with thieves, conmen and conwomen.

6 . Bravo Rtd Gen Chiwenga

Chiwenga has certainry brought a new ranguage and new Engrish pronunciations, indeed a new rexicon and new diction.

  1. Kuda Tagwireyi and Douglas_ Mwonzora as practices and cultures

Kuda Tagwireyi, the corruption frontman and human embodiment of State capture in Zimbabwe has long ceased to be just a name. Tagwireyi is no longer a human label or a simple name but a practice and a culture. A despicable vocation of avarice and unmitigated corruption. Kuda Tagwireyi has morphed from being a name to a rendition of sleaze and reckless profiteering.

Equally, Mwonzora is no longer a name but has become a label that defines a treacherous culture and aptitude. Usandi Mwonzora means don’t sell me out while ndamwonzorewa means someone has just been sold me out. Mwonzora has joined the treacherous lot that stretches from Judas Iscariot to the infamous liberation war sellout Morrison Nyathi, from Abel Tendekai Muzorewa to Douglas Togsrasei Mwonzora himself. He has taken the Democratic struggle backwards by dint of his buyable and purchasable political soul. Mwonzora has become the acme of treachery and surrogate politics and that is why he is now being derisively referred to as Mwonzorewa, a treacherous bigamy that fuses the names of two renowned sellouts.

8 . The scarf as a symbol

Under Mnangagwa, the scarf is no longer an apparel for warmth but a goblin of sorts. Under this Dispensation, the scarf has assumed a new meaning and a new denotation. The scarf under Mnangagwa now means something witchly as it has assumed a dangling permanence around the neck of the Dear Leader, even in the searing and scorching October sun!

Conclusion

Indeed, Mnangagwa’s Dispensation has spawned new habits, a new diction and a new vocabulary while some words and terms have been deliberately twisted to denote fictitious positive developments, thanks to the regime’s incompetence. As the world grapples with a global pandemic that has assumed many variants, our cursed country is equally saddled with a new variant of terms peculiar only to Zimbabwe. For example, kupedza masports(finishing the sports) means accomplishing a task or a mission, especially under very difficult circumstances.

For this week, I am done. I have accomplished my weekly vocation.

Ndapedza masports!

Mmusi Maimane Describes Mnangagwa As The Worst Thug In The Region

By Jane Mlambo| South African opposition leader Mmusi Maimane has ripped into President Emmerson Mnangagwa over his remarks wishing peaceful resolution of the current challenges facing the Southern African nation.

In his Twitter message, Mnangagwa said;

“On behalf of all Zimbabweans, both at home and abroad, we wish that the current challenges plaguing our South African brothers and sisters are resolved peacefully.

“Only when there is peace in South Africa, is there peace in our region,” said Mnangagwa.

Maimane reacted angrily, describing Mnangagwa as the biggest thug in the region who had no moral ground to talk about peace.

“Of all people you must shut up the most. You have been brutally killing civilians for 41 years.

“You know nothing of peace and everything about violence. Thula Mnangagwa,” said Maimane.

“South Africa needs no advice about peace from the biggest thug in the region. The reigning champion of oppression in SADC. Sies,” added Maimane.
