President Robert Mugabe and his politburo have humiliated the late Cabinet Minister Amos Midzi in his death.
The politburo on Wednesday dishonoured Midzi for hero status.
Ambassador Midzi who Tuesday died in a mysterious incident the police claims points to suicide, will be buried at the Warren Hills instead of the heroes acre preserved for outstanding patriots who have served before and after the 1970s liberation struggle.
Several people have been controversially buried at the shrine as those most deserving are excluded. These are ZIPRA veterans the likes of Lookout Masuku and Wilfort Lizart Sibanda who were buried in Bulawayo because the politburo took so long to decide their status.
But the politburo has honoured unknowns the likes of Mugabe’s sister, Sabina
who in 2010 was declared a national heroine without much debate hours soon after her death, yet the same party has in some cases taken ages to decide on some people with impeccable war credentials.
