15 Dads Caught Raping Own Daughters

One of Matabeleland’s traditional leaders, Chief Sikobokobo, Michael Nxumalo today revealed shocking news of cases involving fathers raping their daughters in his area of Nkayi as he said Satanism has hit the region.
The traditional leader, who was visibly unhappy, told ZimEye.com that he has been humiliated by the rape cases and also that he has presided over more than ten cases this month alone, and has since asked the police to be “serious”.
“I am a disappointed leader, because of the rate at which fathers rape their daughters in my jurisdiction. I am praying that our government can retain our powers, so that we can deal with rapists and offenders of our traditional values.
Satanism has also deeply entered our communities, because if a father believes that sleeping with his virgin daughter can cure his ailments and also get him riches, then something is wrong,” said Chief Sikobokobo.
He also blamed the government for not curbing corruption by introducing stiffer and deterring sentences to rapist parents.
“I am an old man who has been around for several decades, but has never seen anyone acquiring wealth through sleeping with their daughter. I think we need to revisit our culture and deal with these issues, as this has destroyed the bond between father and daughter in Nkayi,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by those of his counterpart Chief Dakamela, who also blamed the behaviour of police when dealing with these sensitive cases.
 
“There are more than 15 cases of rape that were reported to the police, but the delay in apprehending the culprits and also the corrupt conduct of our security has let us down. More rapists have been fleeing to South Africa and Botswana, after having been corruptly released from police holding cells,” she said.
 
Chief Sikobokobo also added that last week he apprehended a rapist father and took him to the police, but was later shocked to hear that the rapist escaped and skipped the borders to neighbouring Botswana.
Asked to shed light on the alarming rate of rape cases, perpetrated by fathers to their own daughters, Nkayi Police could neither deny nor confirm, as they promised to give comments after completing some of their investigations, which was not done by the time of going to press.
