Within days Chivayo quickly revealed that he has externalised an undisclosed lumpsum amount which was meant for the Gwanda Solar project. This was in a video Chivayo then quickly deleted after abruptly ending the LIVE filming. He said “yes I externalised but it was to buy the solar panels, and you buy them outside the country so what’s surprising now?”

Four months later, Chivayo’s name has popped up on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s list of looters and externalisers.

3 weeks after his UK trip, ZimEye took steps to tour his Gwanda site and found nothing more than an incomplete fence. A month later, the Parliamentary Portfolio on Mines and Energy also descended onto the area following ZimEye’s expose’ and found the same fence, still incomplete and this being the only notable feature at the site.

The development was mocked by a news observer who wrote on ZimEye.com’s Youtube portal saying Chivayo’s solar panels are “perhaps just tree panels” at the site. Others said shoes are his only acquisition since obtaining the over $5 million 3 years ago. Watch the motion expose’ below:
