LIVE-BLAST in Australia: Zimbabwe would have brought better competition to the Commonwealth Games in Australia. These sentiments were aired on national television here.

From today 4th to the 15th April, history will be made on the Gold Coast in Australia where more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 71 Commonwealth nations and territories to the Gold Coast and event cities Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville, will converge, to share in the celebration of sport, entertainment and culture.

Touring the area, the Australia based Mildred Muzenda could not find any Zimbabwean there (SEE INTERVIEW BELOW).

This was all because in 2003, former President Robert Mugabe pulled out of the Commonwealth plunging the nation into a tiny world of its own.

Mildred Muzenda told ZimEye.com sentiments are however high over Zimbabwe’s failure to participate.

She said, “it’s so sad that (Zimbabwe) they are not here… they could have made a significant change because according to the team officials from other African countries, they were even interviewing on television saying there were other better teams like Zimbabwe who couldn’t be here with us but they are not part of this…. hopefully we just hope because of this new dispensation… I hope we will be part of them.”
