Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo | Zanu PF fat cats are alleged to be dangling cash in a bid to buy loyalty ahead of the party’s primary polls.

Party insiders disclosed that the primary elections, set for May 5, would be characterised by the battle of the pockets.

Business tycoon and former Confederation of Zimbabwe Industry (CZI) president Calisto Jokonya will take on Jonathan Wutawawunashe in the battle to represent the party in Gutu South Constituency.

Higher Education Minister, Amon Murwira is eyeing Gutu North Constituency while former Mimosa Mining Company boss Winston Chitando is hoping to land the Gutu District Senatorial Post.

Masvingo State Minister Josaya Hungwe’ s stranglehold on the Chivi Mwenezi Senatorial Seat is likely to come to an end as he faces stiff competition from a businesswoman in the same area.

“We are in the process of collecting CVs from aspiring candidates and we will then proceed to the next stage, ” said Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson Ezra Chadzamira.
