Vice President Constantino Chiwenga won a reprieve early Thursday morning when nurses withdrew their case against the ex-military general.

The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) revealed it has pulled out its case at the High Court against Chiwenga, Health Minister David Parirenyatwa and the Health Services Board.

Already, the nurses have cited that they have been threatened with violence.

In their application, the practitioners were challenging the decision by Chiwenga to summarily fire them.

Thousands were sent home in a military style summary dismissal. This was punishment for going on strike. In their application, ZINA demanded that Chiwenga’s decision be declared null and void. They argued that the Vice President does not have the legal authority to fire them.

The matter was expected to be heard today before High Court judge Justice Amy Tsanga. THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY – refresh this page for more –
