By Paul Nyathi|Replica copies of the notorious scarf that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been donning around has been selling like hot cakes at the on going Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo.

ZANU PF officials maning the ruling party’s exhibition stand at the Trade Fair told ZimEye.com that hundreds of the scarf of many colours were sold out within the first two days of the fair.

“We had close to a thousand scarfs which were all sold out on traders day before the show even opened for members of the public,” said the official at the stand.

“We actually undermined the popularity of the scarf and brought only a few but were shocked when they were sold out in no time,” she said.

The official who declined to be identified indicated that they had since requested for thousands more to be shipped overnight from Harare and will be on sale on Saturday.

The scarf is selling for a whooping $20.

Mnangagwa made the scarf popular when he wore it at the Davos Conference in Switzerland after which he adopted it as his official dressing accessory.

The President has been wearing the scarf in almost all his official public appearances raising varied reactions from members of the public.
