By Paul Nyathi|The Electoral Amendment Bill is ready to be law and could be signed into the law by Friday this week at the latest.
Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi told media in an interview that the Bill which has passed through the House of Assembly will go through the Senate Upper House on Tuesday to make it in time for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to sign it into law by Friday.
The passing of the Bill has widely been viewed as the reason why the election date still remains un-proclaimed.
With ZEC claiming that the voters roll is ready for inspection, President Mnangagwa is then expected to declare the election date within the next few days.
According to constitutional provisions, Mnangagwa should have proclaimed the election date by the 28th of April failure to which he has an option to announce the election date within 21 days of that date.
