By Talent Gondo| Norton’s Independent legislator, Temba Mliswa has pledged to focus on “real constituency developmental initiatives” instead of cheap vote buying antics done by Zanu Pf aspiring candidate for Norton, Christopher Mutsvangwa
Mliswa, who is the current legislator for Norton said he will continue spearheading developmental programs in his constituency instead of donating foodstuffs like his rival, Mutsvangwa.
Mliswa’s statements come amid revelations that Mutsvangwa recently donated various foodstuffs such as maize-meal and meat for various constituencies in Norton.
The donation saw people gathering at Jinx Town and Sandringham among other places to cook and eat the food.
“I will continue doing my duty without resorting to cheap politics,” said Mliswa.
“I am currently focusing on the issue of road and borehole construction.”
He said he was diverting his energy towards ensuring that electricity is brought to the people of Kingsdale.
“Mutsvangwa is doing what he is doing but that does not worry me. He has chosen to seek votes by buying people groceries and all that but I’m not that type of a politician who indulges in petty politicking,” he said.
Mliswa has been spearheading the construction of roads in Kingsdale and he is currently lobbying to have the residents granted title deeds.
He has also been pushing for the creation of a neighbourhood watch committee to deal with the issue of crime within the constituency.
Mliswa and Mutsvangwa are some of the two arch rivals set to battle it out in the forthcoming harmonised polls slated for this year.
Mutsvangwa, who was initially defeated during the Zanu Pf primary elections made a surprise comeback when his name was confirmed winner of the Norton seat two days before the holding of election rerun held today (Monday).
