The MDC-T national chairman, Morgen Komichi says Harare West MP Jessie Majome over-reacted when she withdrew from the party’s primary elections.
Komichi denied serious allegations which say the party wanted to impose the other candidate, Joanna Mamombe.
He said Majome preempted the party’s strategy and it was all premature.
Komichi who created the confusion by introducing a conflicting elections policy, told the Daily News, “we first want to hear people’s views, we cannot impose candidates but we must engage through negotiations. We cannot have one person stopping a process but the truth is she pre-empted our strategy.
“We are supposed to look into Harare today and determine who goes to proportional representatives if both candidates are popular. We are aware of a possibility of independent candidates but she pre-empted our strategy, we were concerned by her fate and still are.”
