MDC deputy treasurer general, Charlton Hwende has the described the Zanu PF Election Manifesto as a smorgasbord of half truths and wishful thinking.
Hwende said yesterday:
“Before we read the poorly written
ZANU PF 2018 manifesto the ruling party should first tell us
what happened to the immaculately researched and well
written 2013 manifesto and #ZimAsset.
What
happened to the following lofty ideals promised by
the Zanu PF 2013 Manifesto:
1. To create 2 256 000 jobs by 2018.
How many jobs were created by sectors?
2. 9% Annual GDP Growth – P 96.
3.$27bn from ZimAsset by 2018. How much was
realised?
4. 310 medical clinics to be built per annum -p 12.
How many were built to date?
5. 300 schools to be built per annum -p12.
How
many were built?
6. 250 000 house units to be built by 2018. How
many were built- before the party promise another 1
500 000 housing units by 2023?
7.1138 indigenous firms by 2018 creating USD 7.3
billion p 12,14, 83-6, 99.
8. USD1.8 trillion created from idle assets by 2018.
How much has been created to date?
9. $300 to fund women and youth projects. How
many were created?
10. Bankable leases to beneficiaries of the land
reform programme.”
“We should hold politicians accountable. Before they
promise us spaghetti roads and rural airports, they
should first tell us what happened to the lofty
promises of the past,” argued Hwende.
