A losing Zanu PF candidate in last month’ s primary election in ward 3 Masvingo Urban Constituency, Taurai Mudzviti is allegedly causing havoc following his embarrassing defeat, party sources have revealed.

Mudzviti lost to Allen Sibanda in the ward 3 primary election.

Sources told ZimEye.com yesterday Mudzviti and ward 3 chairperson Getrude Mukokovondo breached party procedures and filed trumped up charges against Tapiwa Mandizvidza, a Youth League member, who was instrumental in campaigning for the winning candidate, Sibanda.

“Losing candidate Taurai Mudzviti and ward 3 chairlady, Getrude Mukokovondo are desperate to discredit Sibanda.

Mudzviti proceeded to file court papers in which he claimed he was assaulted during the primary election. He also claimed he lost bulk airtime and had his vehicle damaged by angry party youths. He was supposed to approach the responsible party office,” Zanu PF sources said.

” Mudzviti is disrupting party programmes in the ward and youths are complaining about his behaviour.

Party youths are planning to hand a petition to Provincial Chairperson Ezra Chidzamira to register their displeasure with Mudzviti’ s conduct.

He filed assault charges, theft and malicious injury to property charges against an innocent Mandizvidza, which is totally unacceptable.

Above all he was not supposed to contest in the primary elections. He was imposed by Mukokovondo. We don’t even know anything about his history in the party, he is also threatening party youths with unspecified action after losing the polls.

There are plans to demonstrate against him because he is threatening to sabotage party programmes.

Mukokovondo and Mudzviti are also involved in a votebuying scam that involves one Mrs Musabayana, an MDC member and Tarusenga Vembo, an aspiring MDC Alliance candidate for ward 3,” added the ruling party sources.
