Terrence Mawawa| Vice President Kembo Mohadi’ s remarks at a rally in Chiredzi last week have sparked a tribal storm.

Mohadi told Zanu PF supporters at a rally held at Tshovani Stadium last Sunday Ndebeles should forget about the Gukurahundi atrocities because Shona people were also terrorised before the massacres in which President Emmerson Mnangagwa personally called for the annihilation of people he labelled “cochroaches” which must be dealt with using DDT.

It is estimated that 20 000 civilians were massacred at the height of the Gukurahundi era.

Mohadi shocked party supporters when he said the period of bemoaning the Gukurahundi atrocities was over because Ndebeles also raided Shona homesteads by the 19th century King Lobengula.

“The Gukurahundi issue is a thing of the past. We have to forget about the issue.

The Shona people also lost their wives who were forcibly taken by the Ndebeles so let us focus on building our great nation,” Mohadi said.
