The death toll in the regalia stampede at the rally that was addressed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa has risen to three, party insiders have revealed.

A three- month- old baby was crushed to death as its mother was caught up in a stampede for ruling party regalia at Mucheke Stadium B Arena on Friday.

A pregnant woman was also crushed to death while a primary school pupil was rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he died on admission.

“The death toll has risen to three .A pregnant woman was also caught up in the stampede while a primary school pupil died after being rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital,” party sources told ZimEye.com.

Authorities at Masvingo Provincial Hospital declined to comment on the matter.
