By Paul Nyathi|Newly elected MDC Alliance Member of Parliament for Zengeza Job Sikhala has issued a warning against anyone within the party who opposes party leader Nelson Chamisa in his efforts to discredit results of the just ended presidential and parliamentary elections.
In a highly sensitional post on his social media platforms, Sikhala warns party members against thoughts of splitting the party yet again this time on how to handle the aftermath of the election loss which was hinted by weekend state media.
Wrote Sikhala on his Facebook page:
“Someone posted me a story from today’s Sunday Mail insinuating that there are people in the Alliance who are plotting or fighting President Chamisa over the way we must treat the shameful results of the presidential votes announced recently.
Let me state it unequivocally here, that no one should ever dare distract Chamisa from accomplishing what we have asked him to do for us as Zimbabweans. Let it be known and set as a warning that we will not tolerate any nonsense again to destabilise the party. If there is anyone harbouring such ambitions to destabilise the party, be warned beforehand.”
State media has been awash with reports that some senior MDC members are up against Chamisa’s challenge of the election outcome all claiming that the party lost the elections out of its own bundling and not of any rigging by ZANU PF.
Top amongst the officials who arw quoted as suggesting that Chamisa’s elections challenge efforts are futile are veteran Bulawayo based former parliamentarian Eddie Cross and the party Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora.
The media reports that the opposition party is set for another split if it fails to handle the aftermath of yet another disastrous election.
