Jane Mlambo| Unconfirmed reports have indicated that the woman who was assaulted by riot police at Rotten Row Magistrates Court has received compensation of US13 500.

David Hofisi, one of the lawyers who handled her case posted the message below on his Facebook page:

When this image of the police assaulting an old woman at Rotten Raw Magistrates’ Court went viral, I tracked her down with the help of Fidelis Mudimu at CSU and Cde Patson Dzamara. I recall her unflinching dedication to the cause of democratic change and enjoyed preparing her papers right until the pre-trial conference stage (after which I left ZLHR). The police had argued that the images were either photo-shopped or depicted persons who were not in the employ of the ZRP. I was happy to learn today that the High Court granted judgment in her favour.
