Freelance Journalist Arrested For Taking Photographs of Police Raid on Vendors Freed on Bail

Harare Magistrates court has ended the two-day detention of Conrad Gweru, a freelance journalist, who was arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on Wednesday 26 September 2018 and charged with criminal nuisance as defined in section 41 of the Criminal (Law and Codification) Act for allegedly taking photographs of some traffic police officers. Gweru, was granted $30 bail on Friday 28 September 2018 after his lawyer Gift Mtisi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights applied for his release on bail.
Gweru returns to court in 25 October 2018.
