Walter Magaya’s Spokesman On Trial For Theft Of Public Funds

Jane Mlambo| Controversial preacher, Walter Magaya’s spokesman, Oscar Pambuka today appeared on trial for allegedly looting public funds.

The ZBC Head of News and current affairs, Tazzen Mandizvidza today appeared as a state witness against the fellow journalist and television personality.

Mandizvidza told Harare Magistrate, Lazini Ncube that he was not aware of Pambuka’s involvement in a scam that prejudiced ZESA of tens of thousands of dollars.

“Such government diaries come through me and other journalistsbut it has to be proved or given a go ahead in the diary meeting.

“In this case that did not happen and ZBC was not given this diary by the accused persons nor their company, fruitful communications,” said Mandizvidza.

Pambuka was arrested together with former Member of Parliament for Highfield, Psychology Maziwisa.

The two are both owners of Fruitful Communications, a company hired by ZESA to offer public relations consultancy services.

The matter has already landed Former Energy Minister Samuel Undenge in jail after he was convicted of criminal abuse of office when he awarded the tender to Pambuka and Maziwisa.

Tawanda Borererwe represented the two accused persons in place of Mr Jonathan Samukange.
