Paul Nyathi|MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has bowed down to pressure and apologised to his supporters following his remarks on Thursday in which he labelled some of the people who took part the Harare demonstrations of August 1 as “stupid.”
Chamisa registered his regret on micro-blogging site Twitter on Thursday night after he seemingly failed to stand the heat and onslaught that was coming from all sections accross the political divide. He said he regretted the words that he used as they created a “wrong impression.”
He tweeted:
“My remarks to condenm those who killed or injured the innocent, burnt cars and destroyed property on 1 August used “words” that regrettably created a wrong impression. The people have a constitutional right to demonstrate peacefully. Any discomfort caused is sincerely regretted.”
