A SECURITY guard has been arrested for allegedly pointing a firearm at his superior who had found him sleeping while on duty at a local hospital.

Sebastian Ncube (54) of Makokoba, pleaded not guilty to contravening a section of the Firearms Act when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Adelaide Mbeure.

The complainant in the matter is Ncube’s workmate, Mr Moses Muchemwa (49) of Suburbs suburb.

The court heard Ncube is Muchemwa’s subordinate.

Ms Mbeure placed Ncube off remand and said the matter will proceed by way of summons after completion of investigations.

Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo said last week on Monday, Ncube was on duty at a local hospital and was armed with a shotgun.

The next day at around 2AM, Mr Muchemwa was carrying out routine checks and arrived where Ncube was deployed. “Mr Muchemwa went to where Ncube was deployed on December 25, hooted for a long time after noticing that he was not at the gate where he was supposed to be.

He then got inside, checked and later found Ncube sleeping inside one of the rooms which had no electricity. Ncube woke up and pointed a gun at Mr Muchemwa ordering him not to move,” the court heard.

Mr Muchemwa alleged that he tried to reason with Ncube who kept on insisting that he was an intruder.

The guard allegedly threatened to shoot his superior.

The court heard that Mr Muchemwa left the scene after realising that his life was in danger.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arest of Ncube.
