Farai Dziva| Manica Diamonds FC coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere is unhappy with his charges’ performance following yesterday’ s defeat to Caps United.
The league debutants were outclassed by Caps United from the initial whistle and the fact that they had a number of experienced players in their first team did not count.
They conceded as early as in the 4th minute when John Zhuwawu picked a loose ball in the box and hit the target.
The Eastern Highlands side almost let CAPS United doubled their advantage a minute later but Zhuwawu failed to bury his effort properly.
Just before the quarter hour mark, Makepekepe were forced to make an early substitution when club returnee Dominic Chungwa picked an injury. But the change never affected the game plan as the side remained in control of the proceedings and got the second goal from Joel Ngodzo who converted a penalty kick after Gabriel Nyoni had been fouled in the box.
Manica never showed any intention to recover from the deficit, instead, it was their keeper Joram Muchambo who made some telling saves and kept his team away from conceding more goals before the break.
The second half belonged to CAPS United in the opening stages with Nyoni, Phineas Bamusi and Blessing Sarupinda causing all problems while the introduction of Newman Sianchali later in the game proved too heavy for the visitors who had upped their tempo with hope of pulling one back.
