By Own Correspondent| A Zvishavane man, Daniel Simango has appeared before Zvishavane Provincial Magistrate, Shepherd Mjanja in connection with rape and murder.

Mjanja remanded Simango in custody to April 24.

It is alleged that Simango raped and strangled Stella Moyo, his drinking partner, on April 7 at midnight.

It is also believed that the two were going home after a drunking binge when Moyo was attacked at a bridge between Mandava and Highlands suburbs.

Simango allegedly threw Moyo’s body into a sewage dam after tying her hands at the back with her sweater.

Moyo’s body was discovered and retrieved from the sewage on the same day in the afternoon. The police then conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Simango.
