United States President Donald Trump, has on Monday sent a message of warning to Ugandan authorities over the country’s handling of Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known by his stage name as Bobi Wine.
According to Trump, he has followed keenly the turn of events since the past few months between Bobi Wine, President Museveni and security forces.
“The United States and I expect that the rule of law governs and security agencies act professionally in their dealings with the young Ugandan lawmaker”, Trump said.
Trump added that, there is no room for abuse of human rights, freedom of speech and the United States will not tolerate any act hindering anyone from expressing his views or exercising his democratic rights.
Trump comments come after Bobi Wine was arrested on Monday by Ugandan security officers on his way to Busabala for a press conference where he was set to speak out on police brutality, injustice and abuse of authority.
