BREAKING- Mines Ministry Officials Suspended Over Corruption

By A Correspondent- Mines Ministry officials including a Provincial Director have been suspended with immediate effect over corruption.

This was revealed by the Mines minister Winston Chitando.

He announced this at a press conference held in the capital Harare (Friday).

Said Chitando:

“The ministry of mines and mining development has been seized with complaints from stakeholders over service delivery especially from its provincial offices.

As a result and in line with the Zimbabwe is open for Business mantra and zero tolerance for corruption, the ministry has been and will be investigating all complaints of malpractices by its staff. Such investigations has resulted in the suspension of its surveyors at its Mashonaland West provincial office.

Similar investigations have also seen the suspension from duty of most of the technical staff at Mashonaland Central provincial offices including the suspension of the provincial mining director.

The suspensions have been done to pave way for investigations. It has something to do with the awarding and administration of mining titles. The eight officials have been suspended with immediate effect and they constitute the technical team in the department responsible for awarding mining titles.”
