By A Correspondent- A woman from Emakhandeni suburb, left many hearts sore and eyes teary when she revealed that her grandson insults her endlessly at midnight and threatens to assault her.

This came out at the Bulawayo magistrates’ court when Evelyn Khumalo said in most instances Petros Mthethwa comes home drunk at midnight and then starts insulting her for no apparent reason.

She is so tired because she has not been able to sleep peacefully for several weeks now.

As if that is not enough Mthethwa also insults neighbours. Now people in the community fear him because of his abusive nature.

Efforts to reprimand Mthethwa have been fruitless as he is said to be very violent to anyone who attempts to discipline him.

In order to protect herself Khumalo decided to seek justice from the courts.

“I wish to apply for a protection order against Petros who is my grandson. The respondent usually comes home drunk at midnight, and he starts insulting me for no apparent reason. At a time when I should be sleeping peacefully I fail to do so because of the noise he will be making.

He just lacks respect for me. He also threatens to assault me or anyone who dares to discipline him,” said Khumalo.

She added: “The respondent usually steals my groceries and sells resulting in me starving. May the court assist me so that the respondent moves out of my house and stays somewhere else. I wish to live peacefully.”

Western Commonage magistrate Urgent Vundla granted an interim order pending a final decision.
