Some members of the MDC youths have vowed not to participate in any future demonstrations unless they have been paid their stipend in advance.

Rungano Dzikira cited by the Zimbabwe Mail reports that the youths were promised US$300 for the recent unannounced demos but were shocked to receive only RTGS$300. They said:

Our youth leader from Budiriro told us that Wiwa (as Job Sikhala is affectionately known among the youths’ circles) had assured that we would be paid US$300 soon after the demos.

We did everything in accordance to instructions but surprisingly we only received RTGS $300. Vajaira kutiitisa varume ava (next time we won’t do their dirty work unless they pay us upfront first because other youths from Glen-Norah are also disgruntled. They reportedly tried to visit Sikhala at his offices but were blocked by the security with reports that they would not be paid the said money as they had failed to mobilise promised large numbers.
