Govt Dismisses Claims That Renewed Strict Covid-19 Lockdown Restrictions Are Meant To Counter July 31 Protest

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana has dismissed as ungrounded the allegations that the strict lockdown regulations imposed recently are meant thwart anti-government protests slated for the 31st of July.
Mangwana said the regulations are meant to contain the spread of the coronavirus whose cases have spiked lately.
Mangwana refused to comment on the arrest of Hopewell Chin’ono and Jacob Ngarivhume saying their cases were before the courts.
