MDC-T Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora insists the current crisis in Zimbabwe is best solved by instituting electoral reforms which he said have the power to end contested legitimacy issues that have plagued Zimbabwean politics for over a decade now.
Posting on Twitter this morning, Mwonzora said the Zimbabwean crisis is best solved by embarking on serious and comprehensive social, political and economic reforms.
“In resolving the Zimbabwean crisis we have to embark on serious and comprehensive social, political and economic reforms. Key among these are electoral reforms that will resolve the perennial problem of contested legitimacy in our country,” said Mwonzora.
Mwonzora’s position differs sharply with the current reading of events by the bigger MDC Alliance who insists human rights abuses are the core of the problems bedeviling the country.
This has resulted a globally trending hashtag #ZimbabweanLivesMatter where citizens have taken it upon themselves to alert the rest of the world on the prevailing situation in Zimbabwe.
