Nick Mangwana’s Twitter account which was suspended early this week has been restored.
The account was placed under temporary restrictions by the social media company because of some “unusual activity”.
This was the second time that a government-affiliated account has prompted action from Twitter. A couple of weeks ago the account for the Ministry of Information was suspended by Twitter. The Ministry’s account appeared to have been suspended because a number of users reported it for contravening Twitter’s content guidelines.
Twitter, on the site’s help centre, lays out why it puts restrictions on accounts:
. Twitter can lock accounts for security reasons.
. If the user has violated Twitter’s terms of service and rules then they can restrict the features on the account.
. If there is any suspicious or activity that Twitter detects then the account will be under temporary restrictions.
In his first Tweet on return on Friday evening, Mangwana went on with his praise of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “successes” in his two years since the last election.
By the end of March 2020, 144 out of 183 laws that needed to be aligned to the Constitution had been amended. There are 39 pieces of law which are left and these have been divided into 10 clusters.
