By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance VP Tendai Biti has revealed that prosecutors and magistrates are in no show at Harare magistrates court where arrested journalist Hopewell Chin’ono is appearing.

Said Biti:

We have been in court since 9 am .No prosecutor nor magistrate can be seen . It appears even the system can’t stomach the extent of abuse and the flimsiness of the charges . There is also a legitimate demand by court officials of PPEs . Workers & victims need protection.

Chin’ono was arrested on Friday last week for the third time in six months, He appeared at court on Saturday but was remanded in custody to Monday.

He is being charged with “peddling falsehoods,” after he posted on his twitter account a comment about a police officer who had beaten a 9 month old baby on its mother’s back along Second street in Harare.
