Outspoken coach Luke Masomere has leapt to the defence of embattled Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic saying the Croat needs support not condemnation.

Masomere said Zimbabweans have a penchant for negativity and their ‘misguided’ criticism has also contributed to the high rate of turn over of coaches at the national team and lack of continuity.

” If we don’t make unnecessary noise that guy Logarusic can take us to the World Cup,” said Masomere.

” Let him finish his contract, after all nobody knows what’s his mandate on the contract he signed. The way we think, we are very good at criticising. That’s very bad mentality.”

” I’m happy with qualifying to the Africa Cup of Nations and this guy can qualify us to the World Cup if we give him support not undue criticism. This guy needs our support and let’s support him.”

Masomere also defended Logarusic’s record since taking over as the Warriors coach saying that there are a lot of factors that have to be analysed on the matches under review.

” He can’t build the team with Nakamba playing for the national team at COSAFA, playing Musona and Khama. You can’t be building the base of the national team playing those players at a tournament like COSAFA.”

” He is right in giving rookies a chance because that is development. That’s how you build a team and I support that. Actually I like Loga.”

” I’ve heard people talk a lot about Fabisch but what tournament has he qualified us to. What did he achieve here except that euphoria. Here is a guy who took us to Africa Cup of Nations and is trying to build a team for the future but we criticise him everyday,” added Masomere.
