By Showbiz Reporter – Bulawayo socialite Brendon Shoko, popularly known as “Breezy,” has been arrested for alleged forgery in a scandal involving his girlfriend and an accomplice.

Shoko (28) allegedly conspired with his girlfriend, Priscah Chipeta (38), also known as Gugulethu Banda, and Knowledge Mhlanga (41) to swindle Ms. Phethekile Madonko of US$560 meant for school fees.

Ms. Madonko entrusted Chipeta with the money to deposit on her behalf at Gloag High School’s CBZ Bank account.

Instead, the trio allegedly diverted the funds for personal use and forged bank deposit slips to deceive her.

The scam unravelled when the school reminded Ms Madonko of outstanding fees. Upon confrontation, Chipeta denied wrongdoing, prompting the complainant to alert the police, leading to the trio’s arrest.

They appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr. Maxwell Ncube and were remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.

The State is represented by Ms. Mufaro Ndirayire.

Court records show that on January 7, Ms. Madonko handed Chipeta US$350, which was never deposited. Shoko allegedly arranged for Mhlanga to forge a CBZ deposit slip. A similar fraud occurred on February 20, involving another US$210.

The case continues.
