Barely four days before the upcoming by-elections, Hurungwe West parliamentary candidate Themba Mliswa has been arrested.
ZimEye.com can reveal that Mliswa was stopped and apprehended while driving to Karoi at a roadblock close to Magunje on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrest was conducted at approximately 15:00Hrs.
He was taken into police custody on charges of allegedly tearing down the posters belonging to another candidate Keith Guzah, and disrupting meetings which meetings were not defined at the time of writing.
He was with immediate effect taken to Magunje Police Station where he is to be transferred to Law and Order section in Chinhoyi.
Mliswa’s publicity secretary told ZimEye.com this was so despite this being “a false claim and the fact that Temba had just had his car stoned by ZANU PF youths led by Nigel Murambiwa the individual who led the farm invasion of Spring Farm and who has still not been questioned or arrested in that matter or the theft of Temba’s car in which he was named as the culprit, ” she said.
She added, “the police have not responded to any of Temba’s reports and yet have rushed to arrest him for no valid or factual evidence.”
