Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| There is confusion at Chivata Secondary school following the disappearance of US $2020 examination registration fees from the school coffers.
According to details released by the police in Zaka, there is evidence the person behind the crime is familiar with the school system.
It is understood there were no signs of burglary since the door was opened, indicating staff members at the school could be behind the crime.
Angry parents also accused the staff members at the school of clandestinely stealing the examination fees cash. “There is clear evidence that the person who stole the cash is familiar with the school.
There is evidence that the person used spare keys to open the door leading to the room in which the cash box was placed. We hope the police will speed up their investigations so that the culprit will be brought to book.We toiled to raise the examination fees for our children so we also expect the money to be recovered. We are shocked because some keys were used to gain access into the office. The culprit is among the staff members,” said one parent who declined to be named.
Zaka District Education Officer,James Mahofa, confirmed the incident and said the police were investigating the matter.
“The police are investigating the matter and we difinitely hope whoever did that will be arrested,” said Mahofa.
