By Paul Nyathi | First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has pledged to dedicate her life during her time as First Lady of Zimbabwe to improve the welfare of underprivileged children.
Speaking at a Christmas gathering with hundreds of orphaned children at Thembiso Children’s Home in Bulawayo on Wednesday, Mrs Mnangagwa said that she wants to dedicate her time to being the mother of all the vulnerable children in the country without discrimination.
Hundreds of children were drawn from various orphanages in Bulawayo for the Christmas time treat with the First Lady.
Mrs Mnangagwa called on all organisations taking care of orphans in the city to contact her through the Minister of State’s office and present how they would like to be assisted.
Several people who attended the ceremony showered the new first lady with praises for committing to concentrate on charity work and refrain from politics.
“Her humility and kindness reminded me of the late Sally Mugabe and I wish she can continue like this and not be like where we are coming from,” said a Mr Stanley Maphosa.
Mrs Mnangagwa is expected to take her visit to orphans and vulnerable children in Matabeleland North on Thursday before visiting Gwanda on Friday.
