By Farai D Hove| MDC Secretary general Douglas Mwonzora has dropped a bombshell against the party’s Acting President Nelson Chamisa.
After days of arguing against each other, Mwonzora announced Thursday night that he has finally reached an agreement with Chamisa.
“Today I sat with Nelson Chamisa for over three hours going over the constitution and am happy that we reached a positive decision, after tomorrow we shall make an announcement,” he said.
The development led to many speculating as to what it is exactly that he has reached an agreement with Chamisa on.
According to standing committee member Chalton Hwende, Mwonzora had into last night been hiding the party’s constitution. Announced Hwende, “Mwonzora was withholding the release of our MDC Constitution because he is lying about the constitutionality of the National Council Decision to appoint our Acting President. At the end of last night, Mwonzora had announced saying Chamisa’s appointment to the party presidency is illegal. Below was his tweet:
If an MDCT president dies his replacement is elected by an extraordinary Congress. If the national chairman dies the Vice Chairman takes over until Congress. If any other member of the National Council dies the National Council elects the replacement.
