President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is set to fire green bombers again, indications from the Finance Ministry show.
In the latest development, Finance Minister, Patrick Chinamasa has ordered the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to revise its method of firing the contracts for the over 3 000 youth officers.
This comes after the court ruled that it had failed to comply with the law in firing them.
The Green Bombers engaged lawyers after their dismissal arguing that procedure had not been followed. Government was then forced to reinstate them and Chinamasa said, “with respect to youth officers, as you aware, they took the matter to court and the court ruled that the procedures were not followed.”
Chinamasa was further cited by the state media saying, “so, we directed the Civil Service Commission to follow the procedures and to see that the decision we took (as Cabinet) is implemented. I think the commission will follow the right procedures which they may not have taken.”
