A plot to rig Zanu PF primary elections in ward 3, Masvingo Urban Constituency has been exposed, party insiders have revealed.

Ruling party sources told ZimEye.com yesterday ward 3 chairperson Getrude Mukokovondo was working with prominent Masvingo businessman Taurai ‘Bucho’ Mudzviti to rig the polls in the latter’s favour.

Mudzviti will battle it out with five other candidates in the ward 3 primary elections.

” Mukokovondo and Mudzviti have mooted a sinister manoeuvre to stuff the ballot boxes with fake papers in a bid to discredit Allen Sibanda, one of the aspiring candidates who is the favourite to win the elections scheduled for this weekend,” said a Zanu PF official.

He added: “Mukokovondo would then scream during the voting process under the guise of having discovered electoral fraud and rigging.This will then tarnish Sibanda’ s image in the process.

The two are also tampering with party structures ahead of the elections.

Intraparty violence erupted on Saturday during the cell verification day because of the two’ s shenanigans.”
