By Own Correspondent| While for years it has been claimed all Karangas support President Emmerson Mnangagwa, this has turned out not all true. The below are pictures from 3 separate NPF (National Patriotic Front) meetings in Masvingo and Midlands in the past week.
The large turnout from these meetings indicate as analysts say, that ZANU PF leader President Emmerson Mnangagwa faces his stiffest challenge in the upcoming election. Mnangagwa’s dilemma comes from the fact that the Robert Mugabe aligned NPF has many sympathisers within the core structures of ZANU PF. This is perhaps largely due to the Mugabe brand which has remained the talk of most rural folk.
Mnangagwa himself voiced that he is worried of a Mugabe return to politics. He 2 months ago told a meeting of ZANU PF youths, he would be worried “if the things we are reading from the media are true.”
Analyst Wilbert Mukori told ZimEye Mnangagwa is likely more afraid of Mugabe than he is of Chamisa.
Another commentator, Saba Gety says these are “interesting times; political madness this April. G40 (NPF) putting their cards on the table. If this was football, both Zanu PF and MDC are now 10 men teams. April 2018 shall forever be known as the Party Splitting month. Not looking good for ED… this is his tribal homeland and that turn out of Makaranga to a G40 campaign should be worrying. When African politicians worry about losing power, they go in a looting mode.
