“Tell Investors To Bank Locally”- President Mnangagwa Urged

By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa today met a Chinese delegation of over 60 business people who are in the country to explore investment opportunities.

President Mnangagwa said the benefits of Chinese investment in the country would see increased job creation, the benefits of which would soon trickle down to the ordinary citizens.

Said President Mnangagwa on his facebook post:

“Great meeting this morning with 60 Chinese businesspeople here to explore investment opportunities and to attend the China-Zimbabwe business forum.

Investment brings jobs. And while turning an economy around takes time, our international outreach is beginning to bear fruit, and the benefits will be felt by the Zimbabwean people!”

Citizens reacted to President Mnangagwa’s post calling on him to ensure that the Chinese investments benefits the country.

Said Wiriranai Mutizira, “Extensive research indicate that the Chinese, since time immemorial, have not brought any significant or positive development in Africa. So my question is, why do we have African leaders still turning to them for so called “developmental initiatives”?”

Llyod Stevie Gambiza, “Mr President dnt forget to tel investors to bank money in our local banks instead of crossing over to bank in Zambia sending everything bek to China.”

Linos Nyamuranga, “Word of advise Cde President. Those human beings are vultures…in fact you are surrounded. Before you even know it, you will be left with no flesh. Lets avoid another Chiadzwa debacle.”

Stevie Chiks, “Chinese investment will nevr bring an end 2 Zim cash crisis. Again Chinese pple rarely use local banks to bank their money. Again Chinese projects need to be supervised by locals kwete kuti vashande vega. Matsotsi.”

Alex Gibson, “Hon. We have read and heard about a lot of news about Mega Deals, that’s gr8 and good news to listen to. My question is on the ACF deal with the Moti Group. How has it benefited Zimbabwe to date, how many total tons of Chrome have been produced and at what value was the Chrome sold? How much did the Zimbabwean government earn? Who are the locals partners in this JV?”

Brian Jengera, “Nothing tangible can come out from this gathering. Mega Chinese deals have been signed but no fruits by the of the day. It’s high time we look from somewhere other than China for investors. I see Chiwenga is also there,are you discussing arms deals?”
