By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba has deactivated his Twitter account citing online abuse.
The Twitter handle, which was only a few days old was deactivated and is no longer functional.
Charamba said while he had been encouraged to open the social media account by his colleagues, he realised that it was not worth his time since he was constantly on the receiving end of abuse.
The handle @GeorgeCharamba sent the following message before shutting down,
“Thank you all for the engagements. I had a few good conversations but it was mostly abusive replies. I’ve always been sceptical about Twitter but was encouraged to join by fellow Cdes. I’ve however come to the conclusion that it’s not worth my time. Handle will shut in next 2hrs.”
However citizens responded to the tweet challenging Charamba not to quit “unless he belonged to the thin skinned”.
@matigary words "This is a Hard Hat Area" not for the thin skin

Cde Charamba why are you exiting so early? Yo don't have to respond to everything. Besides You should use the platform to even make gvt pronouncements. Your boss has been able to stand the heart of this platform. Overtime you will know who to engage and who to ignore or block.

In my own opinion our esteemed public servant has another ghost account like @matigary or @lacoste_team or @JonesMusara so managing all this accounts was stressful. #MyOpinion
