Terrence Mawawa|Presidential Guard Brigadier General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe has said the army got solid intelligence on a plot by MDC Alliance supporters to raid the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Offices.

“We obtained intelligence on plans by MDC Alliance supporters to attack the ZEC Offices and the Police General Headquarters and we had to react swiftly to counter the acts of terror the opposition was plotting to carry out.

” We had to take the necessary security measures to deal with the disturbances.

We had to box the Central Business District District into three sectors because the situation had gone out of hand.

We were concerned about the safety of the ZEC offices and several government buildings, “said Sanyatwe.
