By Paul Nyathi|The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the national broadcaster the ZBC have belittled the nearly countrywide protests on the continuous economic woes the country is going through.

In a ZBC report at the end of a day in which state media had been silent on the protests that rocked the country, the police described the events as having been effected by a few rowdy individuals.

“Police warn perpetrators of violence
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned perpetrators of violence that the law will take its course.

This comes after disturbances which saw rowdy elements blocking roads and causing chaos in Harare,” reported the ZBC without mentioning events like the burning of a police station in Harare and a tollgate om the Harare Masvingo Road.

At least four people were confirmed as having been shot and injured by police using live ammunition.

Speaking to the ZBC, ZRP Spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said they have deployed police officers on the ground to monitor the situation.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba added that they will arrest anyone found on the wrong side of the law as the police have video footage of people who were engaging in looting and other unlawful activities.
