Masvingo- Today, Masvingo Magistrate Patience Mandondo stated that, “The trial will continue on Monday 7th September 2020.”
Earlier in the morning, Magistrate Mandondo heard the testimony of the police officer who was a state witness.
From 12:30 to 2:30, Councillor Godfrey Kurauone gave his evidence.
At 3pm, the Magistrate Mandondo then said, “I am tired, Godfrey Kurauone will be cross-examined on Monday, 7th September 2020.”
On Monday, councillor Godfrey Kurauone and other witness will testify.
Advocate Martin Mureri said, “We pray that on Monday all outstanding witnesses will give their evidence and be cross-examined.”
After witnesses gave their testimonies and cross-examined. The Magistrate will give judgement. On Monday, the Magistrate may give judgement or she may give the date of judgement.
Former Masvingo urban member of parliament advocate Tongai Matutu of Matutu and Mureri legal practitioners attended councillor Kuraone’s trail said, “Our virbrant National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone has spend a record of 34 days in Remand Prison, l pray for his acquittal.”
MDC Alliance honourable Timba bought a high quality Personal Protective attire for MDC National youth organiser Godfrey Kurauone to wear it in prison. This attire is very important to protect councillor Kuraoune from covid-19.”
Honourable Mugidho the MDC National women acting chairlady brought the Protective attire of Councillor Kurauone to Masvingo.
Today, many MDC Alliance members, ZimRights officials, family members and Masvingo ward 4 residents came to give solidarity to councillor Kurauone.
On a sad note, MDC Alliance founding member and former member of parliament Mr J. Chitando is admitted in Masvingo General Hospital since three days ago.
Masvingo MDC Alliance youth leader Mr Kingsley Sibanda confirmed that Mr Chitando is not feeling well.
