President Chamisa’s MDC Alliance popularity continues to rise

As court made MDC T led by Khupe and Zanu PF chicken out of mayoral elections

MDC Alliance led by popular and charismatic President Nelson Chamisa won Beitbridge mayoral elections today.

Councillor Munyaradzi Chitsunge is now the new mayor of Beitbrdge Municipality.

MDC T led by Khupe recalled former Beitbridge Mayor Morgan Ncube. MDC T Secretary General senator Douglas Mwonzora wrote a letter to local government minister requesting him to recall Mayor Morgan Ncube.

Today, Beitbridge mayoral elections were held and Zanu PF and MDC T candidates chickened out of mayoral elections after sensing defeat by MDC Alliance candidate Munyaradzi Chitsunge who won mayoral election uncontested.

MDC Alliance Secretary General honourable Chalton Hwende wrote on twitter:

“We have just won tghe Beitbridge Mayoral Election. We defeated both Zanu-PF led by @edmnangagwa and the Zanu-PF Lite led by @DrThoko_Khupe . The Mayor and his Deputy are with the People. Our Mayor and 3 Cllrs were illegally recalled by Mwonzora conniving with ED.”

MDC T led by Khupe have won many court battles against MDC Alliance through what , political analyst Kimberely Tariro Mamhende describe as “MDC T court victories are Zanu PF made. Zanu PF has captured courts especially where MDC T vs MDC Alliance is concerned.”

Yesterday, MDC Alliance mayoral candidate defeated Zanu PF and MDC T candidates in Gwanda.

MDC Alliance councillors are no- longer afraid of the “recall weapon” being used by MDC T to force councillors to support MDC T.

Mr Philip Mugabe of MDC T Mudzuri faction castigated Senator Mwonzora for using recalls as a way to get favours as MDC T presidential candidate at the forthcoming extraordinary congress.

On the other hand, MDC T supporter Ms Sekai Muchaneta who is pro-senator Komichi’s presidential candidature at MDC T congress , said, “These recalls are exposing us -MDC T party that we don’t have grassroots supports. These mayoral elections defeats are embarrassing and the recalls must be stopped as soon as possible.”

On the other hand, Alex Ncube, MDC T supporter who is pro-Khupe said , “I kindly request acting President Dr Khupe to stop these unnecessary recalls. These recalls show that we-MDC T lack strategy. The defeats of mayoral elections show that we are losers. In 2018 , presidential elections Dr Khupe got 45 000 votes and MDC Alliance candidate President Chamisa got more than 2 million votes. Surely MDC Alliance is popular.”

Most political analysts view MDC T induced recalls as vindictive towards MDC Alliance party and President Nelson Chamisa.

Social commentator Derrick Chikuni said, “MDC T led by Khupe will win court cases because MDC T is Zanu PF proxy. Dr Khupe has strong relationship with Zanu PF president Mnangangwa through POLAD and MDC Alliance will continue to win elections because it has grassroot based support. “
