By A Correspondent- ZRP has prohibited the Highlanders Annual General Meeting which was supposed to be held on 31 January and the club’s general elections which were scheduled for 7 February on the basis that gatherings of more than 2 people have been banned to curb spreading COVID-19.

In a letter addressed to Highlanders CEO Nhanhla Dube, ZRP said:

RE NOTIFICATION TO HOLD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS Al HIGHLANDERS FOOTBALL SPORTS CLUB BULAWAYO ON 31 JANUARY 2021 AND 7 FEBRUARY 2021 RESPECTIVELY FROM 0900 TO 1030 HOURS

1. Refrerence is made to your letter dated 11 January 2021.
2. This office acknowledges receipt of the letter and has noted your request
3. However gatherings of more than two people have since been banned as per new COVID-19 lockdwn restrictions meant to curb the spread of the pandemic and your event is not an exempted essential service.
4. It is from this background and due to the increase in coronavirus cases that the event is not recommended.
